There Is A Voice In My Head...
KellyL replied to brandymarie81's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's completely naturally to be nervous and to think of the "what ifs". You wouldn't be normal if you didn't think about these things. I waited so long to have my sleeve and knew for a fact that it is what i wanted, i researched and read about it for yrs. But when I knew I was finally going to get do it, I had a little freak out too. You aren't alone. -
That's awesome, congrats!! :cheer2:

Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp With Creole Mustard
KellyL replied to KellyL's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I don't have any trouble with shrimp or eggs, but I have heard of people having issues tolerating some things. I've been really lucky. I have seen where people might have issues for a bit but later they are able to tolerate things better. I hope you can enjoy your shrimp and eggs soon. -

Two Days To Sleeve By Dr. Kelly
KellyL replied to revtoby's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Congrats to you, can't wait to hear about your experience, and all your many updates. I still have to remind myself not to worry or freak out when a hostess walks us to a booth instead of a table, because I can fit with plenty of room! It's funny how those fears take a while to forget about. Dr Kelly is amazing, I think you will really like him, and I hope you have the easy recovery most of his patients get to experience. Good luck! -

Anyone Else Having Consistant Problems With The Site?
KellyL replied to Rootman's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Alex, It seems like it was SQL server error. But that was just one day, and I thought it was my laptop, internet, or browser. But I tried to also use my iphone which is AT&T 3G and I got the error again. But the next day it was fine. I will let you know if I see that again and what exactly it said. Today I've been posting a lot, with absolutely NO problems. -
Awww, so happy for you and so jealous!! I wanna go to Jamaica!! Especially right now with cold weather and snow flurries in Alabama of all places!! Sounds like you had a great time, and wow at all the NSV's!! That's incredible!

We all have different opinions sometimes, but as long as we respond with maturity and respect, I think that is normal.

As long as I know there's a glass of plain water sitting there and I can take a tiny sip if I NEED to, then I usually don't. I hate plain water so it's not a major temptation for me to drink it, but since I have a choking phobia, I need it there just to ease my mind. I never need to drink it if I eat very slowly with tiny bites and chew it really good. I think it's important to get in the routine of NOT drinking while eating. Even if it doesn't seem to be affecting your appetite or eating now, later on it could make a difference with how much you can eat and affect your weight loss. I started practicing this before surgery and got in the habit, and it wasn't near as difficult as I imagined it would be. We eat so little, it's not at all like it was back in my heavy eating/drinking days.

That's so awesome, you are rocking that sleeve!! :cheer2:

Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp With Creole Mustard
KellyL replied to KellyL's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Haha, I know what you mean, I am hungry for this again already and plan on picking up the bags of frozen already peeled, de-veined, and cooked shrimp at Walmart. They are $5 and make many meals for us sleevers! -
Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp With Creole Mustard
KellyL replied to KellyL's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
You're welcome! And when you decide to try it, you can just start out with 1 or 2 to make sure your sleeve will tolerate it ok. It doesn't take much to fill you up with the sleeve, especially when you first move to more solids. This is yummy, I hope you enjoy it. -
I have seen many post about things like Girl Scout cookies and donuts being sold, but a local school was selling smoked Boston Butts here, and OMG, delicious!! I love fundraising that involves protein.

I have had some problems recently with getting errors and thought it was my pc or my internet server, but it does it on my iphone too. I can't remember what the error says. I use Firefox on my laptop. I don't remember any spell-check issues but I will pay attention to that and let you know if I do. -

Not Sure If Surgery Worked?
KellyL replied to MrsSweny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Be sure to take your PPI/acid reducer, that may help with the hunger/gnawing feeling. The acid feels so much like hunger during this phase. I hope I didn't come off as rude, but I was extremely worried about you. I'm glad you understand our concern. I didn't have problems with liquids either, but a little later when you move to more solid type food is when you will feel your restriction and will be able to tell you have for sure been sleeved. Take care of yourself, and don't rush the stages, but I do understand it's difficult. For me, I missed the actual chewing more than I was hungry lol. It is an adjustment, that's for sure. -
I've seen a few too, and I do get irritated, but mostly I pity them. Their lives must be pretty miserable to have to come on a msg board for support and spread their toxic poison. I am trying to learn to ignore them.

Thanks! I do love this, because the dip is kinda sweet and spicy too. But not too hot. I actually crave this stuff, and it's a great party/ballgame appetizer too. I am a sauce girl too, and it makes our lives as sleevers so much easier and tastier haha. Plain Greek Yogurt is a great replacement for sour cream in any of the dips.

I like to also get prime rib at a local restaurant in my area. It is very tender and flavorful and goes down easy and it's not tough at all. I also love bacon wrapped shrimp, it's so easy to do on the George Foreman Grill cuz the shrimp is already cooked, so it just takes a few mins on the grill to heat and cook the bacon, and I can cook just a few at a time. It doesn't take many to fill me up! I dip it in this creole mustard recipe I got out of a magazine. I modified it and use greek yogurt for the sour cream, and the splenda/brown sugar mix instead of just brown sugar. And onion powder for the minced onion. I cut the bacon into 3 pieces instead of just 2. This may not be the correct place to put it, because we have a recipe forum here too I think, but here is the original recipe then I made my own modifications: Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp With Creole Mustard Prep time; 20 mins. (it's way less time if you use the already peeled deveined and cooked shrimp in the bags) Total time; 35 mins. Servings; 8 1/2 c. whole grain Dijon mustard 1/4 c. sour cream 1 tpsp. minced red onion 1 tpsp. packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp.worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. tabasco 24 large shrimp, peeled & deveined(about 1 lb.) 1/2 tsp. dried thyme 12 slices bacon, halved crosswise wooden toothpicks CREOLE SAUCE............. In small bowl, combine mustard, sour cream, onion, sugar, worcestershire sauce and tabasco sauce; cover and refrigerate. Sprinkle shrimp with thyme. Wrap 1 half slice bacon around each shrimp with thyme; secure with toothpick. Heat large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp; cook tumbling once, until shrimp are cooked through and bacon is crisp, 5 to 6 minutes per side. Remove toothpicks; arrange on platter. Serve warm with sauce.
