Congrats, you're doing great!
-
Yes the 3 wk stall is very normal!! And it's likely that we'll have a lot of stalls throughout our journey. Most stop weighing daily and do every 2 wks or monthly instead.

Seriously need some advice
KellyL replied to MissyG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Missy so sorry that you're so miserable!! I have read that we may have to try different acid meds before we find the one that helps us the most. Also taking more than 1 dose a day till we adjust. The swelling is probably making it worse, so when that goes down it shoild help. Do you know if you have a hiatal hernia? Usually the drs repair it during your surgery. I hope you find relief soon!! -
Congrats!! I can relate to the weight gain after having back problems. Sounds like you're doing great now!
-
I've read it also, and hope to try it post-op as well. If I can find it. I am not real close to any Health food stores or even Whole Foods or Trader Joes. I wish I were.

I've been reading her blog, and I just gotta know. Are the recipes with protein powder in it actually really good? Or just good considering they help get your protein in? I just can't wrap my head around it tasting very yummy. She is so creative!! -
Congrats! So happy for you!

Wow....he took the time and energy and went out of his way to say that to you. I suppose it could have been a situation where he may be eldery and senile. Which in that case it's probably a good thing you were too shocked to say anything. You never know what a mentally unstable person might be capable of. But it's true what a couple of other posters said about the fat discrination thing. I have even seen a couple of talk shows discussing this topic. People can be so ignorant.

I am so happy you found some answers. I too have been more proactive in my own health for a while now. Researching online and reading has really helped me solve some of my own issues. I get very frustrated at drs for their lack of care and concern. The ones here make you wait 3-4 hrs to see them then walk in the room, barely even make eye contact, then leave the room, usually before you've had time to think of any questions to ask. So 3-4 hrs waiting to get less than 5 mins of their time. Ridiculous!!!! The way your dr treated you is horrible. That was abuse if you ask me. Even if there wasn't a med affecting your loss, there is NO reason to treat a patient in that manner. Then to laugh at you?????? OMG I wanna slap him so bad!! He knows you had this done, he is treating you and one of the first things he should of done was look at your meds. I am truly appalled. I am so sorry you went through this, especially at a time you were probably already feeling bad and blaming yourself as it was. You trusted his skills and knowledge, and as drs we go in assuming they care about their patients. I am seriously sitting here questioning HIS sanity and mental stability. To be rude, uncaring, then downright cruel is unexcusable! I hope you are able to report him, but if not I would definitely confront him, tell him what you discovered, tell him you think his behavior was unacceptable, and I would insist there be another medical person there as witness so anything he says back to you, you will have a witness. I would try not to be emotional, use an even tone of voice so he can't try to tell anyone you were a raving looney so he can put the blame on you. Then I would never see him again and tell him you are going to tell everyone you know, go to the newspaper and media to expose him and if their are websites that he's on that will allow you to leave a review, do it!! No wonder so many of us go to Mexico!! Not just cost but the arrogance of some drs is sickening. Bariatric patients generally already have low self esteem problems, without jerks like him to contribute to that. I am so p.o'd!!!!!! Sorry for my outburst lol

DR OZ FINALLY approached weight loss surgery.
KellyL replied to myrori's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think the reason the band was focused on is because they lowered the BMI to enable smaller people to get the procedure. So many people see it as "less invasive" because that is how it's described and advertised. They aren't on these boards seeing how many problems and revisions that we see. I don't understand why this info isn't coming out in studies anywhere. I have relatives that suggested I do it rather than the sleeve due to it's "safety". -
so tired of everyone at work telling me not to do it!

Wow 4's and 6's!! We were talking about single digit sizes on another thread and I just can't even imagine. Like you said I don't remember those sizes in the 9th grade either. That's so amazing!!! Congrats to you, you have definitely rocked it. I know what you mean about your clothes touching you, i'm the same way! I like my clothes being loose. Of course I will prob be different when I'm smaller. Thanks, i love sweet home Alabama. I think there's a few of us on here. Texas is great too, I love San Antonio and Austin but its been yrs since I've been there. I wanna do a lot of traveling after I win the lotfery lol. -

I am in NW Alabama! You are right, their jaws are gonna drop when they see the lbs melting off of us. I think with some folks it is concern but some are just fearful we'll look better than them! I believe you on the energy and feeling good. I've lost 30 lbs and it's amazing just what that amt has made on me. I can do so much more. Can't wait to shed the rest of this fat suit that I've been wearing too long! I am looking forward to enjoying clothes shopping so much. Being able to buy things that are cute and fit good will be so awesome. -
You are doing awesome! I am personally gonna count evrry lb i lose pre-op. It's still part of your journey to your thinner healthier self. I've heard a lot of ppl are Low in Vit D even pre-op. I have started taking it now before i get sleeved. I think being low contributes to depression, plus the estrogen that is stored in our fat cells is released as we lose, which can make us moody. Watch for other things like smaller clothes sizes. Most only weigh 1 x biweekly or even 1x a month. It's gonna happen, just takes some time.

Haha yeah I'm in the South too. I love using the "bless your heart" when I really wanna call someone a clueless idiot. It kills me that 1) they think I would do this without researching it fully. 2). That I should take their advice when they don't struggle with my health issues or weight problem. 3) that they think their opinion or approval means anything to me. I would like family and friends support, but I'm not asking for their approval. -
58 years too old for VSG?
KellyL replied to graymadebbie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No way!! I see a lot of people here and OH getting sleeved all the time! -
I'm so sorry you're going thru this! I would be having a breakdown too! I am shocked and surprised to hear of your problems. Sounds like the L shape of your sleeve may be causing the slow emptying and you also probably have a lot of swelling in it making it worse. I hope it improves very soon for you. I know it's hard being away from your family sweeitie but the most important thing right now is them keeping you hydrated. We're here for you!!
