    Husband and wife surgery

I have seen couples do this with no problem. Alot of hospitals are doing it outpatient or just 1-2 days. This procedure is done laparoscopic so you don't have very much down time. It would be good that you're both on the same food stages like pre-op and post-op liquids so you'd be eating the same things at the same time. But ask your dr also. Kelly

    Diabetes

Sorry about your diagnoses of diabetes. I just found out about mine a yr ago. Mine significanrly improved just by going sugarfree lower carb. If and when I have bread ot pasta it's whole wheat. I've seen a lot of info that the sleeve will help put it into remission. I'm hoping for all of us, that it will! Kelly
  8. Hope everyone is doing fabulous today!

    Negative WLS peers

Try not to let it get to you. Your friend may think they are helping you. However as you said, she can't blame all her problems on a surgery if she's not being compliant with the dietary guidelines. I'd just say look, my procedure is not exactly like yours, there's no malabsorption, and I'm doing this, so please support me, or let's not discuss the subject any more. She'll realize you are confident in your decision and let it go eventually.

    Failure

I agree with the food tracking. Computer and phone apps make this easy and believe it or not kinda fun for me. Yes, I'm easily entertained and have no life whatsoever, but I digress..... Myfitnesspal is a good one and works both on pc and iphone. I am not sure about other phones. But others said it had most foods in its database, and it's true. The best one so far. The next thing is support. Either locally find a support group or this board. It helps to keep you focused and the advice and support from others going thru same process is so helpful. Then if all else fails if you aren't seeing a therapist maybe try that to see if it helps. Good luck! Kelly
  13. That's great Jen. I hope the dr agrees with the tech!!
  14. I am pretty sure after 5 days of no electricity and having to eat out more and the stress eating from the storms I have put back on a few lbs. Hopefully pre-op liquid diet will take them back off!

Inexpensive self pay in the USA

There was a surgeon in Lousiana doing the VSG for around $9000. I think his name was Dr Borland.
  16. I got my passport in the mail today!!! 2 wks from tomorrow and I'll be sleeved! :)

What to replace delivery pizza with?

Cottage or ricotta cheese w/pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce. You can sprinkle parmesan cheese on it.

Just do your best for the remainder of your pre-op. I think this is the hardest part. You can do it!!

Serious doubts after visit with surgeon (long)

    Congrats on your decision!!
  23. Yeah the mental and emotional side of this is intense. You have us as support but do you know if there's a local support group you can attend? The scales will move, just sometimes not when we want or need it to the most. Try on some different sizes to see the changes. Most likely you're still losing inches. We're all so used to diets failing, and on top of that you were a Bander. So your understandably skeptical that this is going to work. Believe in yourself and believe in the sleeve!! Kelly

    Thinking of Cancelling

You are not alone, I'm scared too. But not having the surgery scares me even more. I wasn't diabetic when I first started researching WLS. I am now. I feel like I don't really have a choice where my health is concerned. This is kinda like my last hope in saving my life. But I do understand where you're coming from. Good luck! Kelly
