Everything went well yesterday, and except for the gas right after surgery, I have had no pain!!! A little sore, feels like I've done a lot of situps. Feels great here on the losers bench!!

In Florence Hospital now in Tijuana, have had my IV started, medical questionare for cardiologist and anesthesiologist, my bloodwork, my EKG, and my Xray done. Now just waiting my turn.
Dr Kelly and everyone is super caring and nice. -

Mixed emotions less than 12 hours to go

Congrats that you are getting sleeved in the morning, so am I!! Yes I have a lot of mixed emotions. I alternate between fear, anxiety, excitement, etc. I think what you're feeling is very natural. We are about to make a lot of lifestyle changes. Change is scary, and we normally do resist, but it's necessary to be healthy and happy. While it requires changing our eating behavior, it will all be worth it when we can live a longer healthier life and be here for ourselves and our families. I am tired of being a spectator in life, and I want to really live. Good luck to you tomorrow and please keep us updated!! Kelly -

So they won't give you clearance for surgery? So sorry to hear this, but don't give up, cuz you are fighting for your life!! I've been trying to get surgery for 7 yrs now. I am scheduled for 5/16. It took a long time but I learned a lot and feel prepared for the changes that the sleeve will bring. Good luck!! Kelly

Stuck and not going anywhere

Well you've been doing something right, 130 lbs in 8 months is terrific!!! Congrats on your success so far. That far out you should be able to eat all kinds of different protein. You don't have to use the powders. But you do need to get in protein first, limit carbs and plenty of fluids. How much more weight loss till your at goal? The closer to goal the slower the lbs come off, but you're prob still losing inches. As others said calorie/carb/protein counting really helps. Good luck!! Kelly -

Erin, I'm sorry there's a problem, but glad you got to the hospital to have it diagnosed. Now maybe you can move forward with getting it fixed and healing both physically and emotionally. You deserve to be able to feel better, and enjoy your journey. We are here for you! Kelly

Even though we dread telling people because their reactions can be negative, we usually feel relieved when it's out. No more stress from the big secret. I do understand the need for privacy though. It's like people feel entitled to know. But sometimes they're interested in the info for themselves or someone they love. Just always be confident and proud when you do decide to talk about it. Congrats to your sucess!! Everyone is scared at some point in the decision to have this surgery. But I was more afraid of not having it as far as my health is concerned. It sounds like she has health problems that she could really benefit from this surgery. Just give her a little time to think about it, have her weigh the options, and do the research. I bet she'll come around. Good luck! Kelly
