I'm sorry, I know a sudden 8 days in the hospital that you haven't planned for had to suck. It's a shame you also needlessly suffered with acid for 13 days before gettung an rx for a ppi. That's when you needed it the most!! Yeah, a lot of drs do remove the gall bladder and/or hiatal hernias at the time they do the sleeve, to save you from another procedure. I had my GB removed a few yrs back. I hope you're feeling better now and can start focusing on the more positive aspects of being sleeved and losing your weight. I am a wk behind you, and it keeps me busy trying to get protein in. Good luck for a more uneventful recovery!

I felt very safe and never even saw or experienced anything there that would be of a concern. I was picked up at the airport and driven to the hospital, then from there to the hotel, then back to the airport. No problems at all. I didn't venture off away from the hospital or hotel. I am not familiar with your drs group, so you may want to confirm they pick you up and transport you every where.

Gas and GERD -- Will it End?
KellyL replied to Syler's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It should get better, some ppl have to increase those meds a while. I take 2 at bedtime (40 mg) and occasionally 1 during the day. You probably have a lot of swelling in your tummy right now which can make these symptoms worse. It should begin to lessen aa the swelling goes down. Call your dr if this doesnt help, they may have to give you a different ppi. -
I guess its their job to discourage us from picking up bad habit again.. And they must think cuz we let ourselves become obese, that once we try things again we'll lose control. I think it's fine as long as your 2-3 months out so your tummy is good and healed. And as others said, just a little til you know how it's gonna hit you. The tip to try it at home first is an excellent tip. I don't want to do my experimenting in a public setting lol.

KellyL replied to fern's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
71 lbs is amazing, congrats!!! I guess that was the foamies, but idk why a few bites of your burger would have done that. 3 jobs, wow!!! That is amazing too, you must have a lot of energy to pull that off, good for you!! -
:cheer2: Yayyy so happy for you! I agree, ask for meds for the nausea and walk for the gas. Scooting down the bench for the newest loser!!

What do you eat for breakfast???
KellyL replied to Kristy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think greek yogurt is a pretty good choice for breakfast. I also add it to a lot of my other meals for increasing protein. I also like cottage cheese. String cheese. I had 1/4-1/2 cup mashed up leftover white beans. An atkins shake. Refried beans w/white qeuso cheese and greek yogurt. I've had cream of wheat once. But I am trying to get protein in every meal. Soft scrambled egg w/cheese(can't eat it all) As others said, anything I would eat at other meals, doesn't have to be traditional breakfast items. -
Jen, you're doing great, I'm so happy for you!! I am possibly in a stall but I am so happy to be sleeved!! Everyone here is so inspiring! I look forward to more success for all of us!

I am pretty content now, but I am newly sleeved. I did go through both anger and depression during the 7 yrs of research and numerous attempts to have wls before now, which failed. I try to believe that there was a reason for that, but I would have much preferred to have gotten my surgery and been post op and enjoying those yrs as a thinner healthier me. I hope you can find the answers, please update us what they advise.

Is coughing dangerous?
KellyL replied to lkcraig316's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It shouldn't be dangerous, but I know I kinda freak a little when I sneeze or cough haha. Worried about pulling something. But you should be good at 5 wks. I hoope you feel better soon, I had something similar right before my surgery and it was NOT fun!! -
You're getting so close to your goal already!! I am glad they are continuing to watch your sleeve closely for now, I hope it heals up completely and doesn't give you anymore problems, EVER. I know you are ready to put the leak behind you and enjoy the wonderful positives of your new sleeved life. You look wonderful!! You're got a great attitude too. Keep it up girlie!!

Talk me off the ledge- weight loss crawling
KellyL replied to meggiep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry I know it's difficult, I'm going through it too, and I just feel so helpless, because I am working really hard just to get in what I am getting in now, I can't see getting more calories in either. That's what gets us down I think, we get insecure when the scales don't move even though we are doing what we've been told to do and following the guidelines. I don't have any words of wisdom for you, but I wanted to let you know, you are not alone. We'll get through this together!! -
I hope you're sleeved and doing well and having an easy recovery!! Please update us when you feel up to it, I'm happy for you!

This can sometimes be acid, are you on an acid reducer? If so, what mg a day do you take?

Longtime Lurker Finally Made the Jump!
KellyL replied to Madison's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, and glad you came out of lurkdom to join us here. Congrats on being sleeved!! Sounds like you are doing great. I am in my 3rd wk post op and still struggle to get in everything, such limited space in my sleeve still. I feel like I am eating and drinking all day long, and I actually have to if I am going to meet the requirements. It gets easier every day I hear so I am not gonna worry about it. Everyone experiences it. I am doing good, and feeling great! I have decided to stop weighing so often since I am in the 3 wk area, I know people experience stalls around this time, so I don't wanna get too caught up in the scales right now. If you've been lurking and reading, you know what a great support system this forum is, so we are all here for ya!! :welcome: -
Congrats too your success!!! You are doing an amazing job. Sorry to hear about the back pain, I hope that gets better for you soon. You are an inspiration! :cheer2:

Sleeved on Monday at UCLA
KellyL replied to mking82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on being sleeved!!! Glad you are doing well. I didn't have problems taking pills or the discomfort with swallowing, but I've seen both mentioned, so hopefully those people will speak up. I hope you have a speedy recovery! -

How supportive is/was your spouse
KellyL replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good subject!! I admit it bothered me a little at first, the liquid phase is hard by itself, but then watching others eat made it harder, so i would get busy to distract myself. Now, I look at it like this, there is constantly going to be food situations with people, I may as well get used to it at home with my family so it won't be as difficult when I am around others. This isn't temporary, it's a definite true lifestyle change. It just takes a while to adjust.
