Wanting to buy a few peices of equipment
KellyL replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I like the Wii Dance games and Turbo Jam. I am probably getting Hip Hop Abs this wk. I have a gazelle Glider and ablounger. I know the glider folds down for sforage. Someone gave me a Bowflex, waiting on DH to put it together for me. -
I may decide to go to the Wellness Center later, mostly for the pool, but I pretty well hate the gym too. I love nature and walking but it's just too hot right now. So I am doing exercise videos and the Wii Just Dance 1 & 2, Country Dance, and Michael Jackson dance games. Right now my favorite exercise dvd is Turbo Jam. It's not too fast paced, low impact, and I like the music. I have Tae Bo but a little too fast and intense for me right now. I am going to be getting hip hop abs soon. I like saving $ on gas, and the a/c, and the convenience of exercising any time I want. Lol. I also have a Gazelle Glider, Ablounger, and someone just gave me a bowflex. Doing something you like is key to exercising.

I had a great experience with Dr Kelly and I felt very safe. It only takes about 20-30 mins from the airport to the hospital. There was a security guard at both the hospital and hotel. You stay at the hospital 2 nights, released on the 3rd day. You have 2-3 leak tests, but only awake for one on the day you're released. You can see your new sleeve on the screen yourself and see it's not leaking. You also get x-ray to take with you. The hotel stay is just a bonus as far as I can tell, to allow you to relax before you have to travel home, and you are checked on while there too. Dr Kelly has a lot of experience and truly cares about his patients. He also has trauma training. I had little pain/discomfort, no nauaea, no throwing up, no complications. I have a more detailed account of my experience in the "about me" section on my profile. It's kinda long. I also have a few pics posted. I was sleeved on 5/16 and I love my sleeve. I am doing well with the weight loss and my type 2 diabetes is cured/in remission. I am able to get around so much better now and I feel great.

My hair is falling out by the handfuls! Anything help?
KellyL replied to sleeved51711's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Congrats on the 62 lbs in a little over 2 months, wow!! Amazing!! Are you getting plenty of protein?? I have seen it mentioned to get plenty of protein, biotin, zinc, and some kind of shampoo mentioned but i don't remember the name. You might try a search cuz it was on this site. Maybe someone will mention it again. -
weight gain after solid foods?
KellyL replied to MrsPositive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My body is so weird, it stalls forever, then finally drops but then the next day it bounces back up a few!!!! It will eventually come back down but it really gripes my a$$!! Lol. I have to just avoid the scales, not great for my sanity. -
Have people stopped recognizing you, too?
KellyL replied to Shanny's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Awww I can see your point, but there are many ppl in my life who only know me as a big woman, so I expect this to happen. It is actual confirmation that your efforts and your sleeve is working, and that is a blessing in so many ways! Especially healthwise. My hubby was asleep the other night when I went into our bedroom and he woke up looking at me like I was crazy!! I thought he was about to gripe cuz i woke him, he looked at me that way for a while lol and I said what????? When he heard my voice the confused crazy look disappeared and he said "i didn't know who you were for a few minutes. Lol!!!! I realize he was half asleep but I honestly think my body has changed enough he thought I was someone else for a few mins. It tickled me to death, and I am nowhere near goal. But it happened during a stall and really helped me realize that changes were still happening. Don't take it personal, people are watching us transform right before their eyes. It takes us a while to adjust to the butterflies emerging, our friends and loved ones have to adjust too. Be proud of yourself and your accomplishments. -
Another NSV- Damn life is good!
KellyL replied to warrior68's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's so great, and a definite NSV!! We know we're losing, but it's really nice to have it confirmed by someone, especially someone we find attractive! Thanks for sharing the story, I love hearing them. People are really beginning to notice my loss now, annd since its kinda new, i still feel slightly awkward, but it is surprising how good it feels too. -
Sf popsicles helped me so much. Your headache could be caffeine withdrawal, not sure what you're allowed to take for a headache. The pre-op diet was the worst part of the whole thing for me! I know its hard, but so worth it!!!

Finally had my surgery with Dr. Kelly!
KellyL replied to CaliforniaJenn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yayyyyy. So happy for you. Congrats on being sleeved!! It felt very surreal to me too, so I know what you mean. -
I flew home from Mexico 3 days after surgery and I did fine. I purposely did not fly nonstop so my flight would have a break for a little walking to stretch my legs and help prevent bloodclots. I still had on my hospital band cuz I flew the day after being released, so when they do the first children and ppl needing assistance boarding, I went ahead and boarded to help prevent people from bumping me and having a little more time with getting my bag in an overhead compartment. I did not lift it, my sis was with me and did it for me. I also made a couple trips to the bathroom on the plane as well.

6 month labs are back and some values are low
KellyL replied to Foxbins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is the B12 you're taking sublingual? I wonder what dosage Iron we need, I just noticed my multi doesn't have Iron in it so I need to pick some up. -
Depressed 2 months post op
KellyL replied to livinglifelikeitsgolden's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey sleevesister, we had the same surgery date. You are not alone, I stayed the same for over a month after the initial drop post op. I couldn't understand it either but decided it was indeed the dreaded 3 wk stall. My clothes did get looser though. The scales are just now moving again. And its still not daily or regularly. And when I drop 4-5 lbs, it will bounce back up the next day but over time it goes back down. I seem to have more stalls than losses! Lol. But I have resigned myself to the fact that this is how my body loses. It's not the sleeve, in fact while trying to lose pre-op, I had a 6 month stall!!!!! So I will take whatever the sleeve helps me achieve. I won't lecture you about the drinking, but caution you to be careful! Transfer addictions are a serious matter with wls patients. Don't give up on the sleeve but more importantly, don't give up on yourself sweetie. You are worth taking care of. *hug* -

KellyL replied to itscometothis's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thanks Julia, the great part is it doesn't even feel like a diet at all. It's just eating smaller/ normal meals. After the liquid diets pre and post it is really great! I have my whole MX experience now in my "about me" section now. And a few pics in the glallery. Take care!! -
Dr. Kelly Patients... help please :)
KellyL replied to itscometothis's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi Julia, I only stayed one night, but I stayed at the Hacienda Del Rio because Lucerna was booked up. It's up to you but I'd let Trish or whoever, know your plans before you schedule your flight. I wish I had stayed the extra nIght because I was enjoying myself and hanging out with my sleeve sisters. I hear Lucerna is very nice too. Good luck to y'all please update on how things are going! Oh, and the hotels are close to Dr Kellys office from what I understood. -
I had it with the tape too but i also had thrush on my tongue so i wasnt sure if it was an allergic reaction or yeast. I removed the tape and got some of those Danactive yogurt Probiotic drinks and both went away.

This whole not drinking while eating...
KellyL replied to mythreechildren2001's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I drink almost right up until I eat, but refrain from drinking during my meal unless it's just an occasioonal tiny sip to keep from choking. I usually keep plain water on hand, and since i don't like plain water, this also discourages me from drinking during meals. I then set my phone alarm for 30-40 mins then start drinking. It's not that hard for me cuz I started doing it months before my surgery. Also, the amount of food is so small during my meals so I don't get overly thirsty.
