What is the one significant thing in your life that you can do now...
KellyL replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
For the first time ever, i actually spent the whole day shopping with my daughter for back to school clothes. We went to Kohls, JC Penneys, and a lot of other stores walking up and down the whole mall. Because of my weight on top of back/hip problems I could barely get from the parking lot to inside the mall where I would have to immediately sit down, in you guessed it, the food court! I would send my daughter and a friend into the stores, they would have to txt me to let me know what they found and how much $. Sometimes I would go into one store and be in so much pain and so irritable! Shopping was not enjoyable like it should have been. And since I couldn't do anything else, of course I could comfort myself with the great food. Yesterday we still got something to eat, i got an order of smoked wings, and ate 3 out of 6. Was gonna save the rest of them but still had some stores to go in so i :gasp: threw the rest away!!!! Besides being able to walk every where the eating part was not the highlight of the trip like it so often in the past had been. We had a great time!! -
Love those kinds of NSV's!

Lemonade tasting protein?
KellyL replied to Bemabound's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think there is a lemonade in the Syntrax Nectar protein powders. Also a fuzzy navel one. There are samples you can order, but i dont have the info. I think its in a thread here under protein drinks or protein powder. -
Of course my vote is sleeve! But you have to choose this for yourself. Go with your "gut instinct" (pun intended). You're doing your research. Remember that the Plication and Band sound less risky and invasive but it turns out they all have risks. I didnt ever want to have to consider another surgery down the road. Theres a plication thread, I would encourage you to check there for how their weight loss is going and any complications being reported. Good luck!!

I was seeing way too many failed bands during my research period, and that # has increased over the yrs. But I also did not like the fills/unfills post op. Even going thru that chances were not getting the "sweet spot", and people weren't losing. Then the slipping, erosions, etc. And food getting stuck and throwing up all the the time did not sound appealing at all. The RNY wasnt for me due to malabsorption and nutrional deficiencies. Also after 2 yrs your body adapts and you absorb calories again but you continue not absorbing nutrients. So for 2 yrs you get used to eating a certain way and certain foods but then you begin gaining weight eating the same foods/amounts. And their pouch is made from the intestines which is stretchier than say a sleeve which is our true stomach with the strechy part removed. Also with both of these you still have the ghrelin hormone so you could be hungry/never satisfied on the small amts of food. With the sleeve for most people that is gone so no hunger and total satisfaction on the small amts of food and less chance of overeating.

I am a little further out than you. I had the same issue with the scales, but I did feel my clothes loosening up a lot. I think the 3 wk stall lasts a long time for some of us, and it can feel very discouraging. It lasted over a month for me but the lbs are now slowly beginning to drop. Sometimes they temporarily bounce back up even. It sounds like you're staying really busy. When I am busier and on the go, i don't drink as much water. This can cause a lot of the symptoms your describing. Even mild dehydration. It will also make your body hold onto fluid. Also, the B12 and multi are important to keep your energy level up. I hope things get better soon, wish I was there!

I am med free and my blood glucose #'s are normal now since surgery. I had improved before surgery by losing 35 lbs and diet but it was still around 140 in the morning before eating. In the hospital it was 100. A wk later it was in the 80's and now it stays around that. My type 2 diabetes was the main reason I went ahead with surgery too, and I am very happy I did!

nude/semi-nude pics??
KellyL replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Not Dr Kelly either. I didn't read the blog in question, so I am not sure which drs do this. It would of been nice if the blogger would share the info, if it's true there shouldn't be a problem with giving a name. It should not be required for wls, and in my 7 yrs of research I have never read of any bariatric dr doing this. But plastic surgeons, yes, to be able to give an accurate estimate of the cost. -
Mine is a 34 then oversewn. So far so good. There is not that much difference between the 32-40 from everything I've read.

nude/semi-nude pics??
KellyL replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Wow, I hope they didn't take nude pics of me!! lol No, never heard of it for wls, but my sis had to send a nude pic to get a price for plastic surgery in MX, and one of the most popular ones does this is well, they have to get an idea of how much lipo, skin, whatever to remove and adjust the cost accordingly. -
Self Pay=Self Help -- HELP!
KellyL replied to YellowRose's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The problems with unable to take a deep breath and the fever is very concerning, I would go to the ER if I were you. I have never had gas or acid that caused those symptoms. Take care of yourself and update us please! -
That is such b.s.!!! 1/2 lb after you've lost more than they asked?? Don't let them do that to you. You have shown you are serious and more. They are just trying to get outta paying for your surgery. I can easily fluctuate 1-6 lbs daily. So many things can affect this. I would demand to speak to the highest authority. The other person was just speaking on how Kaiser sees things not judging you. We are all here for you and support you 100%!! A lot of us have dealt with Insurance and Drs and all their hoops, we do understand. It took me 7 yrs to get my sleeve. I ended up self-paying. Don't give up.

Thanks for the birthday wiishes! I accidently deleted my other status. Seems I never get too old to be a spaz!! I am truly blessed and the sleeve is the best gift I've ever given myself!!

How many people get sick aver being sleeved? How many loose hair/how much
KellyL replied to Happylife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have not experienced any nausea, throwing up or losing hair yet. I am worried about the temporary hair loss too, but will gladly trade a little hair for obesity and diabetes. I was 10 wks out Mon. My type 2 diabetes is in remission. I am no longer on Glucophage/Metformin. I try to get 80-100g protein a day. 80 or more oz water. I take Biotin, Multivitamin, Calcium, Vit D, Magnesium, Zinc, B12, Vit C. I was taking these pre-op also. -
