  1. That's so awesome hahaha. Congrats on your success, and thanks for sharing that NSV. You are rocking your sleeve.
  2. You look incredible, congrats!! I'd rather find an extra inch tall than an inch round lmao jk. I agree with what others have said, because it seems I have seen someone else say the same thing on the forums. You have done so well, and you're beautiful!
  3. Congrats on being sleeved!
  4. Early out, it's not unusual for people to eat a little runny mashed potato or refried Beans because they go down easy. But then we transition to more Proteins as we can tolerate them, because we really need to get the Protein in, and with our small capacities it's important to eat protein first if/when possible. There's just not a lot of room to eat more. As far as getting back on track, you just have to really make sure you try to keep only things you need to have around you and get rid of all the junk. You have to resolve to do what is necessary. When I feel weak and want something, I ask myself which I want more, to continue losing weight and becoming healthy, or eating something that will sabotage my weightloss. I try not to make anything completely off limits, because it just makes me want it more, but I only let myself have a bite or two rarely and then I am ok. I try to keep a lot of choices such as Protein shakes, Protein Bars, cottage cheese, string cheese, almonds, pecans, pistachios, etc around. I change things up if I get bored and try out low carb recipes. The biggest thing that keeps me on track is because I don't want to have gone thru the whole process of getting weight loss surgery and not giving it a 100% chance to work for me. P.S. In your case you are only a wk out so that really limits your choices, but at this point it is the most important time to follow your post-op diet because of your new staple line. You don't want to cause yourself unnecessary complications.
  5. I posted this in another thread about meat/protein and thought I would put it here too for others looking for a yummy easy recipe!! I love bacon wrapped shrimp, it's so easy to do on the George Foreman Grill cuz the shrimp is already cooked, so it just takes a few mins on the grill to heat and cook the bacon, and I can cook just a few at a time. It doesn't take many to fill me up! I dip it in this creole mustard recipe I got out of a magazine. I modified it and use greek yogurt for the sour cream, and the splenda/brown sugar mix instead of just brown sugar. And onion powder for the minced onion. I cut the bacon into 3 pieces instead of just 2. Here is the original recipe then I made my own modifications: Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp With Creole Mustard Prep time; 20 mins. (it's way less time if you use the already peeled deveined and cooked shrimp in the bags) Total time; 35 mins. Servings; 8 1/2 c. whole grain Dijon mustard 1/4 c. sour cream 1 tpsp. minced red onion 1 tpsp. packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp.worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. tabasco 24 large shrimp, peeled & deveined(about 1 lb.) 1/2 tsp. dried thyme 12 slices bacon, halved crosswise wooden toothpicks CREOLE SAUCE............. In small bowl, combine mustard, sour cream, onion, sugar, worcestershire sauce and tabasco sauce; cover and refrigerate. Sprinkle shrimp with thyme. Wrap 1 half slice bacon around each shrimp with thyme; secure with toothpick. Heat large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp; cook tumbling once, until shrimp are cooked through and bacon is crisp, 5 to 6 minutes per side. Remove toothpicks; arrange on platter. Serve warm with sauce.

    I Find The Operation Stupid

You will be able to eat a little more when you get a little further out and the swelling goes down inside your sleeve. You have to try different types of protein, if for instance chicken doesn't work for you right now, then try something different like a soft scrambled egg or cottage cheese. String cheese is tasty and handy to keep with you. It would be a good idea though to try to form good eating habits now, and make healthier food choices. The person above made a good point about orange juice being acidic, and it's very true. Most of us have an acid problem, at least early out, so it may be best to switch from orange juice to protein shakes? It takes a while to adjust, and it can be difficult if you have some intolerance's to some foods, but give it a little more time. Focus on fluids and softer food. The dryer the meat, the more difficult to tolerate, so try to use dips of some type. I like to mix plain greek yogurt with hidden valley ranch dip mix or any others. But you can use other dips or dressings.

    Best/worst

Worst/Hardest = Pre-op and Post-op liquid diets Best: portion control
  13. Yes, I agree 100% with everything you said! There's so much we learn in the process of all this, about food, eating, and emotions and why we eat! I am enjoying it most of the time myself, and it is so nice to finally take control of the situation and do something about it instead of sitting around crying and being depressed and feeling hopeless. It's not easy by any means for me, my body is holding on to every lb and every inch. But, I will not give up, because this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change. I love the sense of control over not running out and eating first then regretting it later and the portion control that the Sleeve gives us. I am thankful everyday for the Sleeve, the changes it's helping me make, and taking responsibility for my health.

    1St "cheat"

Sounds like your sugar had dropped at work. If you had not ate anything til around 10, that is 3 hrs, so it was past time for you to eat, if you're like me. I have to eat every 2-3 hrs, especially early out when we can only hold a tiny amt. I know it's probably more difficult for some people at work to be able to take breaks or lunches to have something to eat, but you could take small ziplock bags of peanuts or almonds to snack on until you can get somewhere and have an actual meal. On the cookies, I have no advice except to not dwell on it, what's done is done. Just strive to do better with your choices, and keep better choices very handy so you won't be in a situation where you're hungry and have cookies as an option. I keep peanuts, almonds, pistachios, edamame, or protein bars in my purse at all times. Protein bars are as yummy to me as any candy or cookie anyway, and the ones I get are 20 grams of protein, so can easily also be a meal. If you have a fridge at work, you could also take ready to drink protein shakes or string cheese.
  17. Congrats on your surgiversary! You're doing great, just get back to basics and you'll start losing again. Keep coming back here for support!

  22. Wow....just posted a very long detailed post and the page refreshed and I lost it.....not going to try to write that all again, but long story short: I am sorry you had that experience in the hospital and had to struggle for your life to call 911 to get assistance. NO ONE should have to go through that, and I hope that nurse gets fired or reprimanded for her actions. But thank GOD that you are a fighter and a survivor, and you did what you had to do to save your own life. You are right, it sounds like having someone there with you might have been a good idea. But having said that, while I don't think it's right that you went through that, they are unfortunately correct when they said Internal Bleeding is a complication of this surgery. So that may be why you are having problems filing any kind of malpractice suit. If it's a known risk/complication then it's not a surgical error or due to any error or neglect by your surgeon. Once he found out what was going on, then they followed protocol on getting you to ICU and handling the situation to get you stable and get the bleeding to stop, and giving you fluids and in rare cases they have to re-operate or do blood transfusions. So as far as the surgeon and your complication, in the medical field, things turned out fine. I know it was difficult emotionally and now you are dealing with no weight loss and a lot of emotional issues from Katrina and losing homes, and depression. You've had a really rough time. But I think it's time to get some therapy for all of it, start trying to heal both emotionally and physically and start focusing on loving and taking care of yourself and letting all this drama go. I wish you well in your journey, please come to this board for support on working to get your Sleeve to working for you. It takes work, and it's not always easy, but you can be successful at losing the weight. Take care!!
  23. Awesome, you look great!! Congrats on your weight loss success.
