Hi there,
I am a 33 yr old female, type II diabetic taking injectable insulin. My husband thinks I may have mild sleep apnea, but the doctors I used to see wouldn't address it because they were more concerned with my diabetes.
I am in a position where we are looking at getting insurance soon and I have made the decision I need help and want to lose weight. :help:
I became overweight as a young child. My mother was a diet-aholic. And if she was on one, I was on it...even before I got heavy! At 6, I was on Weight Watchers. At 7, Nutrisystem. At 8, all salads, nothing much else. At 9, the Miracle Soup Diet (the Cabbage soup diet), non-stop for over half a year, no 2-3 day breaks in between.
When I moved in with my father, he was the opposite. He fed me whatever I wanted. I was 10 yrs old, eating 2 t-bone steaks for meals and all the sides to go with it!
Over the years, I have tried going on Weight Watchers, following a Nutritionist's diets, following a diabetic diet to lose weight...I even went to a therapist who did sublimnal tapes and Humongous Fiber pills to help you eat less. I've maybe lost a total of 20 lbs with one or the other of these methods and it came right back.
I haven't seen under 200 lbs, except for once, since I was in middle school and that was only because I was using drugs at the time. No more drugs in my life!! I want to do this! I want the change! I want to be healthier!
I recent;y started to change my diet, in preparation for when I get insurance and speak with a doctor. I won't be able to do this without help from an insurance company. I am cutting sodas out of my life. I am cutting down my portions of food. Thankfully, my blood glucose levels are reflecting the changes I am making, but would love the chance to get off the injections.
I want to learn from you and, hopefully, become one of you.
