  1. No vomiting although I feel like I have to most of the time. I decided to take an antacid today and felt alot better. Perhaps its acid reflux?
  2. GadgetLady, you and I agree wholeheartedly on this issue. I just want to say that BJean if you want abortions to be legal then you pay for them via your tax dollars but I dont agree with my tax money going to fund a Planned Parenthood.
  3. I had surgery about 5 weeks ago and I am finding that I am hungry and able to eat more food at one sitting than the past weeks. I only lost 1 pound last week (week 4) and I havent weighed in yet this week I have an appt with the nutritionist on thursday the 20th. When do you know its time for a fill? i still do feel the band is tight ( I can feel tightness up to my throat) especially towards the end of the day. Anyone?
  4. I too am just as passionate about this topic as you are and I have read every single post to this thread. Like I said I do appreciate your intelligent approach to a very emotional topic and although it is rants and raves I dont believe that anyone should ever take a rude approach to such a serious topic. So you see BJean we finally found something we can agree on! I appreciate you and your insight even though you nor I will ever come over to the others side. His rude response really in the scope of things has very little effect on this topic (thank God)! I think people like you and I are the ones who will be most influential to anyone who may be on the fence! Thank you for being who you are!
  5. Tripod65 was completely out of line and owes you an apology. There are some women who have been on this thread for a very long time (for Eg BJean) and although I do not agree with much of anything she says she has never been rude or disrepectful to anyone even if they have very differing opinions. My hat is off to her and others who can logically and sometimes even emotionally debate this topic yet maintain their respect for others and their opinions. Tripod you do not belong on this topic because obviously you have an inability to repectfully and intelligently convey your point of view! You owe L8BloomR an apology or stay out of this thread!

    Christian Bandsters

Just wanted to tell you all a story. My husband relayed to me last night in dinner conversation that he is totally and utterly shocked at how well I am doing emotionally post lap band surgery. He really thought that I would be an emotional wreck right now not being able to overeat the way I have for the past ten years. Do you know my response? God has given me everything I need to tackle this weight issue at this point in my life. ALL THE GLORY TO HIM!!!!

Hello all! My prayers go out to all those considering the band right now. I prayed for almost 3 years for this band. The first time my ins denied and denied again on appeal but this time everything went so well, that I knew God was behind it and in total control. My only regret is not having it done sooner. I am 30 pounds down already and I was just banded on 2/13. Its so nice to be able to be full just on a shake. Will let you know how I am doing as the weeks go on. God Bless you all and remember He is our strength!
  8. I just made my ticker and lost 10 more pounds but I dont know how to go in and edit it to change the marker. Help!
  9. I have just about had it with the way these protein shakes are making me feel! I can not get down more than 4 oz of liquid in and hour and a half and I am starving! My doctor said I am still swollen and to try 4 oz 3X a day. At the end of the day I am ravished! Plus I have to take a vitamin and my antibiotic (all liquid). I am feeling weak physically and feel if I dont get real food in me I may pass out! Anyone experience difficulty getting all these liquids down?

    February Bandsters

Hi everyone! I was banded on 2/13 and lost 15.5 lbs before surgery. I have stepped on the scale as of this morning and it appears I have lost 11 more lbs however it will not be official until tomorrows weigh in. I have been on a clear liquid phase for the past week and tomorrow I am to start protein shakes. Dont feel hungry at all though! Glad to see this thread. Lets all stay in touch on our journey!
  16. I just had surgery on 2/13. I would assume every hospital is somewhat similar. I checked in was shown my room and given 2 gowns to put on and then I was weighed. After that they tried to run an IV and they fully explained what was to happen next. I was taken down to the surgery room on a guerney and transferred to the operating table where they strapped my arms down and an IV was established. Then I was out. When I awoke I was in recovery, groggy, and then transferred back to my room about an hour later with very little discomfort and I was awake and seeing visitors. Overall I had a very good hospital experience! Ask questions if your not sure whats happening next!
  17. Great thread! I am 5 days post op and on clear liquids and I am really not even thinking about eating but it was great to hear everyones responses! Thank you!
  18. I agree with the last statement. I told only those who were closest to me and who I knew would be a support to me if I was having a bad day. You dont need to tell anyone who will not support you especially in the beginning when you are dealing so much with "brain hunger". Stay away from the "downers" in the beginning. When you start looking really thin you will be shocked to notice who really are your true friends!

    Anyone start out around 275?

Hi! I started at 270 and I am 5' 5". I lost 15.5 lbs. pre-op and was just banded 2 days ago. First Dr visit is on Tues! It was so great to see all the people who responded to you who are in my weight range and have gotten below 200 which is my first goal! I will let u know how much I lost during the clear liquid phase. I'll check back later!
  20. Hi! I was just banded on 2/13/08 and I am not feeling one bit hungry. Just a bit dizzy this morning. I am on clear liquid only for 1 week then 2 weeks of protein shakes and 1 week of mushies then on to full solids. I am feeling very little discomfort and really just feel a bit of abdominal soreness. Thats all! I lost 15.5 lbs pre-op by cutting out all carbs except for those in veggies and the wt came off rather quickly (3 weeks). Even though they say this is the hardest stage of the post op I dont regret this decision one bit! Do it now while you are young! You dont want to waste one second of life being unhealthy. My only regret is that I should have done this sooner!

    Intervention last night about Obesity

I have it on a season pass on my TiVo since the show started. I have never missed an episode and have never seen one on overeating (bulimia and anorexia yes). I was glad they showed the true struggles of an overeater and that the therapist stated that food addiction is similar to heroine addiction in that some of us do it for the calming effect.I also liked that they mentioned that food addiction is different than other addictions in that you are faced with the demons 3 or more times a day because you need food to live. I guess it was the particular surgeon he saw that said he wouldnt take the risk of doing surgery on him but there are some who will take him, he may just have to travel. The surgeons on Big Medicine have done surgery on men his size. Hope to see more on this show!
