    Easter Sunday - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

    Only lost two pounds this week. I've kicked up my workout and my eating has remained constant. Not sure what else to do. Oh well....     Cold Drinks/Food

    I was the opposite. Warm drinks made me feel like I was going to throw up. Also, I noticed when I had indigestion ice cold beverages helped me belch. Don't know why, but they did. Maybe the spasms pushed the gas up.
  3. My sweetie is taking me out to dinner and a movie tonight. Why am I so nervous about the idea of going to a restuarant? I know what I can and can't have. I can do this...

  4. I had to learn to make the Protein tolerable. I stopped using the unflavored unjury. It's just nasty. I started usuing Special K Protein Water. It's only 5 grams, but it's more than nothing. But, it's tastes like Crystal Light which I don't like. So, I started mixing it with about 2 tablespoons of Simply Lemonade. That totally killed the "protein" taste. I noticed the chocolate Unjury wasn't so bad, so I started drinking that with milk, sometimes I'd crush some ice in it, sometimes I'd put peanutbutter in it. I ate the Campbell's Chunky chicken Brocolli cheese & Potato Soup, about 3 tbsp at a time, for about 2 weeks straight. It has plenty of protein in it, and I could puree it, it kept me full and it tasted good. Read labels and look for Proteins. You're gong to make yourself sick and take longer healing if you don't get enough. It was within the first 3 weeks that I asked what did I do to myself and why did I do it? I'm 6 weeks out and I still have to nap everyday because by the time I get off of work I'm worn out; I never was like that before. But, it's all worth it. It doesn't suck so bad now. I think around the middle/end of week 3 it starts getting normal again.
  5. Debating if I'm going to workout today at lunch. My hamstrings are KILLING me! That's what I get for working out and watching Teen Mom 2 last night. I totally lost track of time because I was all engrossed in the show!

    Not too many symptoms being off of it. I think the Xanax kept me from really feeling the effects of it. Plus I take Topamax at night, so that helped too. When you have surgery, they'll send you home with some sort of narcotic that'll make you sleep a lot. Plus the anti nausea meds make you sleepy too. I slept a lot, and felt like crap, generally (the first 3 weeks after surgery SUCK), so I didn't even notice feeling withdrawl symptoms. But, I think the Xanax helps keep your dopamine levels high enough that you don't go in the DTs from not being on the Pristiq. I have to have my Pristiq with food otherwise it makes me throw up, so I had to wait until I could have full liquids, so I could have it with a Protein shake. But, if you can take it without food, you can probably take it as soon as you can drink an ounce of Clear Liquids. It's small enough that it doesn't get stuck, and it doesn't need to be crushed.

    I've been on Pristiq for 3 years now. I was able to take it up until the day of surgery. While I was in the hospital, the switched me to Xanax, because it can be crushed. Then when I came home I was able to resume the Pristiq after a week when I was on full liquids. Hope this helps!
  8. I don't "eat" breakfast. I have a protein shake - unjury chocolate (20 grams), with 1 1/2 cups of 2% milk (12 grams) and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter (4 grams). My morning snack is some kind of lunch meat which is protein. Protein in my lunch. Afternoon snack is 1/2 Atkins protein bar. Protein at dinner. And I drink 1 Special K protein water a day. That gives me about 68 grams of protein a day.
  9. Hi, I'm Shannon. My surgeon was Dr. Peter Liao, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. I love that hospital. That's where all my doctor's are. It's also where I had my son.

    Number of Incisions

    I only have 1 incision (and I had no drain). It's 2 inches long, and goes right along the top of my navel. It's blends into the fold of my navel and my stretch marks hide it well. I'm so glad my doc did it that way. He's awesome! I thought they were all done with 1 incision. I just learned something new!

    Things people say...

    Here's one for ya. Now, I didn't tell my boss that I had weight loss surgery. She just knows that I had an ulcer removed and that as a result I'm having a hard time digesting food and I'm on a special diet. She's an old woman and usually makes these back handed comments to me. Today, she says, "You're losing weight, did you notice that?" I said, yes. As if I didn't. "Are you happy about it?" I said yes. Then she says, "Are you going to keep it up?" I told her I hope so. In fact, I take 20 minutes of my lunch and go to the weight room and work out. She says, "Good. I'm glad you're making a change, because you needed to do something." I was floored. What right does she have to tell me that I needed to do anything?!?!? My weight has NEVER interfered with my job. I'm damn good at it. Don't insult me to try to give me a compliment. This is exactly why I didn't tell her or hardly anyone I was having surgery. She would have a field day!
  12. Hi all! Here are some before and after pics. The first is me at my heaviest, 247, with two of my super skinny BFFs at my gradutation party in August, when I first started my 6 month program for my sleeve. The last two are me, 5 weeks after surgery, taken on March 19, 2011. I'm 51 pounds lighter!
  13. My boss has Entemann's Cinnamon Buns on her desk. I ddin't get tempted until I smelled them when I just in there. I can NOT eat those. I can NOT eat those. Damn this food addiction!

  20. Okay, let's see if this works. Here are some more before and after pics of me. The before is at my highest weight of 247 and after is 5 weeks post op at 196 pounds. A total of 51 pounds lost!
  21. Yesterday for dinner, I overate. It didn't look like much. I didn't feel full, but then it hit me like a ton of bricks! It was the first time I tried pork. I had an ounce of pork tenderloin, 4 green Beans and 2 quarter inch thick potatoes. Doesn't sound like a lot, didn't look like a lot. Everything was measured and chewed 400 times. Well, it was a ton of food in my stomach. Good lord pork is dense! I felt so awful all night! I had to throw up to relieve some of the pressure. It felt like I had gotten kicked in the stomach by a mule, and it kept creeping back up my throat. It was awful. Now I'm being paranoid. Could I have done some damage to my new tummy and stretched it out by overeating? God, I hope not. I don't feel sick this morning, but I'm scared that it's stretched out now and I'll be able to eat a Whopper from Burger King if I tried. Just when I was finally able to lose weight, what if I sabotaged it? Damn, I wish this sleeve came with a warning label, or a buzzer or flashing light or something!

    I cheated today! Bad Shanny! B- Protein shake S - 3 small slices of pepperoni & 1/2 low fat string cheese L - 1/2 bag Welch's Fruit Snacks (and now I have indigestion!!!!) S - 1/2 Atkins Protein Bar D - 2.5 - 3 oz Grilled Djon chicken breast Vites - yes Water - on my 5th 8 oz glass Exercise - 30 minutes on treadmill at work will do 30 minutes on gazelle when I get home
  23. Did 30 minutes on the treadmill on a 3.0 incline on 3 mph for 20 minutes to make up for the 1/2 bag of Welch's Fruit Snacks I ate instead of eating a real lunch. I dont' know what happened. I just needed something sweet and fruity and there they were.

  24. Damn I don't know how this bag of Welch's Mixed Fruit Snacks ended up at my desk again! That's it. I'm going to tape, and staple it shut, then lock it in my desk drawer!
