Okay, this is getting ridiculous!

NOT enough protein... if you think about it with out enough protein to support what you have currently you body tries to hold onto everything it can... plus without enough protein you weaken your muscles in your body... might not sound to bad but remember your HEART is a muscle and it you dont get enough daily protein to sustain it you will get sick, you will stall as your body fights to keep your heart healthy by stealing from other muscle groups. -
Unsupportive Sister and Mother
kaneohegirl replied to kpbrighton's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I WILL NOT TELL my mother, sister or any of my inlaws till after the surgery and even then maybe not till they start thinking Im "sick" (cancer or something cause Im dropping the weight) wanna know why? Cause they are ppl that love me and want me to loose weight but have no clue... Prime example - called to tell my mother about child #3... did I get OH thats great Congrats? hell no she said "WHY?!?!? Why would you have anymore kids? dont you know how much trouble they are?" the phone call ended pretty quick... and she wonders why I dont call her much if at all! They think its about portion control and exercise... and for me it isnt... I did the gym 1-3 hours a day 4-6 days a week for nearly 4 months.... yea I lost all of 10lbs... I redistributed alot but I didnt drop any sizes. I want the ability to go to the gym again to move without hurting to chase my kids and dieting alone and exercise isnt enough I dont need their approval... I want it like a little kid that never got enough of it growing up but I DO NOT NEED IT ANYMORE -

How to avoid the 6 month diet requirement?
kaneohegirl replied to kaneohegirl's topic in Insurance & Financing
yea the liquid diet wont bother me... its this waiting and waiting that bothers me... I had hoped to push it thru and get it done WHILE I was unemployed SO I now have 2 months documented since I had seen the dr in Feb and when I took the papers in for him to look at he filled it out starting feb and did march since it was march 1 so technically 4 months togo... but then after that... I might have to wait even longer since I am looking for employment and HOPEFULLY will have a job by the end of the month. if so it will be a while till I can get time off for the procedure. **BIG HUFFY SIGH** -

You will like the KC Bariatric group... Dr. Hoen and Dr Kowalski both seem really nice and their seminar is really informative. I chose Dr Hoen for 2 reasons 1. he was my friends dr and she really liked him and researched the crap outta him, and 2. he has done more VSG's than his partner... I too am a UHC patient just starting this process... the 6 month diet thing is Bugging the crap outta me I have documentation for over 5 yrs of my gp telling me to loose weight and that this is how he wants me to do it but since I dont have 6 months in a row of being seen I have to start from scratch. you should be able to bring your sleep study over from ST Lukes. and since we have the some insurance Im betting you need the same things as well, A dietitian session, a psych eval with THEIR DR, a preop education, and a EDG, Depending on your individual health you might need to see a cardiologist and a pulmonologist... so after seeing my reg dr I am now 2 months into my "official" 6 month diet... and I ma looking for a way out of it. -
Does anyone know of a way to avoid the 6 month diet requirement that insurance requires?... yes Im impatient I just want to get this done. Currently I dont have a job and if this were done NOW while out of work I could then not worry about needing time off or have to wait till possibly NEXT year to do this.(because some employers wont give you time off for the first year) I have been treated by the same DR for over 5 yrs... he has watched my weight gain and has been on me to loose and has given me diets to go on but since I dont have 6 consequtive months Im SOL.... I dont wanna be SOL... Any ideas?

Leaks: when to breathe a sigh of relief?
kaneohegirl replied to Lisalu's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you should start a NEW thread with the question... then he may answer -
think about it tho... calories is one thing and you wonder how ppl survive and yet be healthy... check out these pics... it emphasizes what ppl spend $ wise but really look at the types of foods that ppl are living on it kind of drives home that we as a nation really dont have a clue what its like to worry about malnutrition.. until you need to worry about maintenance you need to focus on getting the Protein you need to maintain your muscle mass... if you intend to do extreme activities like hiking in high altitudes or in harsh environments you should talk to a nutritionist about WHAT kind of calories in addition to fat burn you may need to remain healthy.

My Sleeve story - Surgery was done Jan. 13, 2011
kaneohegirl replied to Connie31079's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
many meds including vitamins on a empty stomach can cause nausea including ppl with whole stomachs. your dosage of vitamin might be too high or the type of vitamin could have additives that are reacting with you. try taking them during the meal or after... -
graphic depiction of surgery... but it shows a better example of the staples used
-
remember FAT has less density than muscle. so while your scale is stalled your body is still burning the fat and thus you are loosing inches but not poundage... hope that makes sense

Im a newbie still feeling around to see just WHAT I want to do... at first I was leaning toward the sleeve but have since decided that the sleeve might be a better option. Im going to blog my way thru... http://onewomansbariatricjourney.blogspot.com/ I'd love to read others blog that are out there... so I may be asking lots of opinions hope yall dont mind
