I just read that you work in hoover. I getting sleeved Monday at princeton hospital. The pit of my stomach has butterflies.....
-
I was sleeved on 3/9 and so far it has been a horrible experience. I had a lot of nausea at the beginning and really did not tolerate eating or drinking. Last weekend I was readmitted to the hospital for dehydration and intense stomach acid issues. I had a swallow test and an EGD and the doctors say everything is fine. I am still burning up with acid everyday. I can feel it swishing in my stomach. I contantly dry heave or spit up foam. Today it felt like I had to burp but then I just started spitting up and could not stop. It was the consistency of egg whites and i could barely breath while i coughed this stuff up. It was very, very scary. Drinking makes me queasy and I can eat very very little. I take 40 mg of omeprazole a day and have tried protonix and carafate too. Tomorrow I go to the doctor to discuss my options. Do I have ANY hope of this getting better? I am miserable, so much so if changing to RNY will really make me feel better I would seriously consider it. I chose sleeve because I thought it was the best choice but this has been a nightmare.

Had my upper GI and barium swallow test and it was fine, no leaks. The doctor did say that the opening into my stomach looked a little narrow so we wants to do an endoscopy to check it so I got checked into the hospital for fluids (I was quite dehydrated) and to get scoped. Probabaly will be here till Monday. Hopefully by the time I leave I will have an answer to why I feel so bad.

No fever at all, just this aching pain in my gut.

Yes I have been taking a PPI since I came home. I just want to feel good and actually eat something. I am so weak and tired all the time.
-
So I am over 3 weeks post-op and am still having these dry heaving episodes that are only getting worse. I feel like there is a brick in my stomach that just aches. Anti nausea meds do nothing. I can't eat and am having trouble drinking because my stomach just hurts. I go in for an upper GI and swallow test tomorrow and I am really scared. Can anyone tell me what to expect or offer some encouragement. Right now my vsg experience is just not going as I hoped.

Almost 3 weeks post op and getting a little worried
MissyG replied to MissyG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I think I found part of my problem. I don't think I can tolerate artificial sweetener. About 20 minutes after I had some tea with sweet and low I started dry heaving. As soon as I drank it it stated feeling weird in my stomach. Same thing happens when I drink crystal light. Apple juice and water with plain lemon does not do that. I was also able to eat a whole piece of shaved deli roast beef. Tonight do not feel nearly as "yucky" as I have the past week. -

Last night I had another very painful bout of dry heaving last night. I usually do not have real nausea with it, it just hits me. I woke up with a dull ache in my stomach which has become pretty regular. I don't know if that is hunger or something else. -

That is also a problem, I hate yogurt and cottage cheese. I ate broccoli and cheese soup tonight and I think I ate 6 small spoonfuls before that painful gas bubble hit. It sucks I just wish I could eat without it being painful. -

I am worried I am never going to feel normal again. Ia still have a lot of gas issues and was having acid issues so my doctors told me to take my prilosec 2 times a day. I hate Protein shakes so I want to get my protein from food but I can still only eat maybe 5 bites of anything. I am finally getting almost all my Fluid, I had trouble finding something I could really tolerate but I found ice cold Water with a few drops of lemon juice is really good. Everytime food is in front of me I am terrified of how it will make me feel. My doc said I could have toast so I tried some cheese toast last night and it made me feel awful, definitely not ready for bread. I also go into fits of dry heaves, not really nausea exactly, but my gag reflex is really high and I think sometimes I dry heave to try to get some of the gas out. I feel like my stomach is "off" almost all the time. Sometimes it is a dull ache sometimes I can't really explain it. I did have bad sinus drainage last week which I felt really set me back because it really upset my stomach. Sometimes I think the more I don't eat the harder it is when I do. I hate being terrified of food. I just want some semblance of normalcy. Right now I am feeling like a failure. -
Gas pains every time when eating or drinking
MissyG replied to irkenpanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am two weeks post-op and I get those EXACT pains after one bite or sip of anything. Doc told me it is normal and eventually it will go away. He said to take my gas x or the gas relief drops that are for babies. He said you can't overdose so to take as much as I needed. I just made a post about this yesterday because I needed some reassurance that it would eventually go away. -
Please tell me this really does get better

Sad thing is, I can't even burp...it just comes up and presses against my chest. It is so painful and happens when I eat too. -

I am two weeks out from surgery and I am still having gas issues. Every time I take a sip if liquid, no matter how small, I get this air bubble that come s up and presses against my chest. It make drinking veer hard. This also happens when I eat. The dic said this is normal and will go away, but I need a little reassurance. -
I know we need to limit our carbs, but when were you able to eat a soft flour tortilla?

When you post what you are eating for each day can you post how far out post-op you are? That would help us newbie sleevers know what you can eat at certain points post op.
