After my 2 week checkup, the doc said I could do ANY exercises I felt comfortable doing...with absolutely NO restrictions. I have been doing Water Aerobics for the past 3 years and couldn't wait to get back; except this time I couldn't until my scars were totally healed and there were no scabs. So, in the meantime, I did Strength/Weight Training during October, November, and part of December till the January class in the water started. Mind you, I had NEVER done anything like weight training before, and was just starting to lose weight. So the crunches, and situps, and all the other exercises for both upper and lower body were new to me. I thought for sure I was doing too much; but it was not the case. I felt great and had no problems at all!!! So, I say the sky's the limit! Now that I have lost 67+ pounds and several inches, I am game for more challenging workouts. The water aerobics is less of a challenge and I am looking for more!!! As the weight comes off, it gets easier and more fun. Kickboxing should be great, just careful nobody kicks you at the site of your port. I've recently purchased a pilates book and DVD, and also the exercise ball. People cannot say enough about Pilates; and the exercise ball is awesome!!!

The broth will do you wonders!!! It's what made me feel so much better after surgery.....a great comfort food...with some flavor to it....and the warmth just hit the spot! We've had lots of discussion about thyroid medications lately and it seems several of us are having a problem with either it not absorbing (the ones with no thyroid) or taking too much since it is based on our weight and we've lost so much.....I have been taking it for over 30 yrs so i never bothered to read the package about taking it with/without food!!! Wow!!! This thread is a GOLDMINE!!! I cannot believe how much alike we all are!!! The part about "ruining your food" is hilarious!!! I do the same darned thing!!! Yikes!

Don't know why I didn't see this before!!! I've been looking to start a group like this with our support group!!! Wanted to get some ideas for Menu Plans....that was why I started that thread about it. Anyway, I think I will just subscribe here and participate. COOL!! Will let them know about it but they're not as much of a Computer Geek as I am I need to be accountable too.....my Dietitian keeps after me to journal and I don't know why I can't make the time...especially since I am eating correctly now! I still go to WW meetings but keep a low profile. I do it so I can weigh in, mostly for myself. I do have a scale at home; but that one keeps me on track! Also, themotivation and the recipes and support. Our support group is only once a month so the weekly meetings help in between. Anyway...thanks for listening....I think I've had too much coffee! I have just recently started telling people I had the lap band surgery. I was in the "fat" frame of mind where, every time I lost a significant amount of weight, people would compliment me and say how good i looked. This was always sabotage! I would figure, "hey if i look this good now, why do i need to lose moer?" Happens every time! And back the pounds would go. So, even though we will most likely keep the weight off this time, I still did not want to hear all that yet. Now that I have lost about 67 pounds,, if people ask, I tell them, and more than happy to share the secret gift I've been given of a new life!

Hey....I've never been to Vegas!! PLEASE let me know when you confirm a date!!! I would love to go!!! Will start saving my money from all the money I save on less food lately!!! YAY!!!

you may be on to something with the thyroid thing though....but my TSH has been extremely low.....decreasing my dose lately.....I thought only if you have a n underactive thyroid it woudl fall out...since I am getting too much Thyroid hormone, i would think it would be the opposite....i dunno...may just wear my hats!!!

I would lov to know more aboout how other Michigan Lap Band Support Groups are run, how often they are held, is there an agenda, newsletter, staff attendance...any other info you can give. Thanks! I was banded on 9/24/04 by Dr. Hawasli at St. John Hospital in Detroit. Our Support Group meets every third Wednesday of the month. I am just curious how all support groups run their group. Maybe we can learn something new. We had 13 people at our meeting this week and it was a great meeting!!! That is EXACTLY what happened to me!!! See my past posting.....I had a fill on November 8.....1cc...then after Christmas was getting really hungry again.....he extracted the first to measure it and only 1/3 remained....he said it happens occasionally...there was air in the tube....so he gave it back to me....and i think i have 1cc now.....lots of restriction which is probably what i should have had the first time!!! Michelle sent the same quote to me and she is right!! maybe they will change their protocol......
