    Need to Vent!

    Congrats!!!!! So happy for you!!
  2. Yay!!! I will be done with my 3 month in april and even if it's going slow its going kinda fast. I agree that it is actually good to have waited. I found a great doctor and a wealth of info on here I would never had otherwise
  3. I have BCBS- Fed and they require a 3 month "diet"... so, I started the process in Jan and will be having surgery in May.

    my introduction :)

Welcome!! I too was going to go with the band until I discovered this site. Here you will find many supportive people and a wealth of information to assist you in your journey! I'm also on my last leg of the 3 month diet and am hoping to get surgery in may. Again, welcome!!!
  5. Great job!! I know the waiting is the hardest part. I'm one of those whose insurance required a 3 month supervised diet w/the surgeon's nutritionist and I'm on month 1-2. My next appt is on St Patty's Day, then the final one in early/mid April. After that, just wait for approval and surgery date!! Probably late April or early May. Ugh.... the wait is simply miserable but so well worth it! Good luck to you!!

    Why did he tell everyone??

Oh, Holly!! I'm so happy you're doing well and are even able to post while in the hospital! I dont really have much to say about your husband telling a lot of people though, cuz I'm the one who cant keep anything a secret. I had gotten so embarrassed by my weight gain that I was super excited to tell everyone in my family that I was having WLS. My family is not judgemental and are very supportive so I didnt even worry about telling them. I havent been sleeved yet and everyone at work knows what I'm doing and I could careless...especially since I was the one who told everyone! LOL... I'm glad you're doing well and please keep us all posted on your progress!
  7. So happy for you Brian!!!! You look fantastic!!! Cheers to the last 10lbs! You can do it.

    VGS problems

Hi Robert... there is a section on this forum specifically for LapBand to Sleeve revisons. I highly encourage you to look into that forum!

    severe reflux

I have severe GERD, heartburn, reflux.... whatever you wanna call it and I havent had surgery yet. I've been prescribed medication for it but they never work so I take TUMS everyday. I have a hiatal hernia and the surgeon said he will repair that when I'm in surgery but WTF, am I gonna have this forever, even after he repairs the hernia simply because of the sleeve?

    VSG - 5-year result study

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. I'm not too thrilled about the number of patients that had to revise to the RNY or the amount of reflux... but again, we're only talking about 26 patients.
  11. Is the sleeve like a pill that takes away your thinking of eating? I've taken pills like that and food wasn't an issue anymore....is it like that?
  12. WOW!!! Congrats!! So excited for you!!! Which BCBS do you have? I have BCBS-Fed

    BCBS- Federal

Hi All, I have BCBS- Federal and was wondering if anyone else has them and how hard/easy it was to get approved for VSG with them? Any advise or experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Stacy
  14. Drink clear broth n lots of water...do not eat at least a day before weigh in and only do clear liquids. Also a day before weigh in, or that night, take a load of laxitives!!!! You'll drop 5 lbs overnight
  15. Wow Malcolm, that's a lot for one person to go through!! No wonder weight came back on. I'm sorry you had to experience all of that. That obviously took a huge toll on you, not only physically but mentally too. Welcome to the forum. You will get a lot of support here and probably a lot of your questions answered too. I'm glad you are taking action to get the revision!!!
  16. Welcome to our site Malcolm...there are many people on her that have had revision surgery from Band to Sleeve, there's even a thread just for Band to Sleeve revisions. Take a look at the posts there...Very informative! I came on here looking for answers since I was going to actually have the Band done, but after reading all the post and understanding the complications of the Band, I have decided to have the Sleeve surgery. I'm still in the process of getting approval and all my paperwork together so I cant really answer your questions, but I have a question for you, if you dont mind..... If you do, it's understandable! If you were so successful on the band, how/why did you gain so much weight back? Stacy
  17. Congrats Tiff!!! That is so wonderful and I look forward to reaching goal someday!! You keep me inspired!!

    Any other tattooed sleevers?

They are very addicting so be prepared!!!!

    Laughing at myself

Since I have not had my surgery yet, I would like to know exactly why you are getting a revision from the Band? What complications have you had? Why wasnt the Band successful for you?

    Any other tattooed sleevers?

I was just talking to my hubby about my next 2 tats!! I want a sleeve tattoo (not the VSG but a full tattoo that covers my whole left arm) once I reach goal. But I'll be getting a big Celtic cross in between my shoulder blades first. What I have (and I'll post photos when I get home): 1. a Celtic circular design on the inside of my left wrist 2. a Celtic band around my right wrist with a shamrock in the inner portion of the wrist 3. My name, my sons name and Winnie the Pooh w/Tigger jumping on him under my belly button (my first tat at 17) 4. A seleton of a frog (my fav anphibian) w/Celtic tribal flares on either side of it (as a tramp stamp- also done before it was called that and before it was popular)
  21. Wow...that's unheard of!!! Congrats!!!!

Welcome!! My friend went to mexico to get hers done and she's doing great too!! I'm going through my insurance cuz I can't afford it otherwise. I had to gain some weight to qualify but I know it'll be well worth it after surgery!!
