HI friends! I need some help. I am 5 1/2 weeks out from surgery, doing very well. I have not eaten anything yet that I didn't tolerate. However, I could really use some ideas for high Protein, low carb snacks/small meals. Here's the kicker: I do not like cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, tuna, beef jerky; basically all the things you all seem to be eating! My doctor wants me to eat 5 times per day, so I am treating 2 of those as Snacks (smaller, quicker) with the other 3 being my meals. Also, it needs to be portable and quick, so I can bring it to work. So far my go-to has been a tbsp of Peanut Butter, sometimes by itself and sometimes with a few crackers, depending on how I am doing with carbs for the day. I saw someone mention pepperoni crisps, so I am going to try that. Any other ideas, please??? Thanks!!!

Good morning friends! I weighed in at 232.8 lbs this am, which puts me down 3.1 lbs this week! This is a lot for me, I am a slow loser, but at least I'm losing. I feel great, no issues, so I am not complaining. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

I only count total carbs; a carb is a carb to me.

I finally made these, and they are SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!! I am very excited to have a treat that doesn't kill my diet. Here is how I made them: I cup Peter Pan Creamy Peanut Butter (my favorite) 2 scoops of Pure Protein Frosty chocolate protein powder 5 packets of Splenda (I did not do the oats, but increased the protein powder instead.) I melted the peanut butter in the microwave before adding the other ingredients. It was too hard to form into balls when it was still warm and melty, so I let it sit on the counter for about an hour first. Then I made the balls and let them sit in the fridge for a few hours. I split mine into 13 (relatively) even balls; it comes out to (per ball): Calories=86 Total Carbs=3 Fat=6 Protein=6 These stats are based on the brands of ingredients I used I have found my new favorite treat/snack!

WASA Crisp Breads (Reccomended !!! LOW CARBS!!!!)
KristinaRN replied to apple-saucy's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I bought all of the ingredients and I'm excited to make this over the weekend! I have 2 questions though: 1) Can balsamic vinegar be substituted for the cider vinegar? 2) You mentioned that this is a canning recipe...I have never canned anything before, how do I do it exactly? Is there a special process or do you just pour it in the mason jars and be done with it? Thanks! -
Heather, you have saved me! Breakfast is my biggest challenge, scrambled eggs every day gets a little boring. Well I went on eggfaces website and got recipes for high protein pumpkin pancakes, chocolate protein mini muffins, and blueberry protein mini muffins! YUM! I figure one or two of these with a piece of bacon or ham will give me a nice high protein breakfast. Thanks for the sugestion!

The Tortoise and the Hare
KristinaRN replied to loseforlife's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you for this post, I really needed to hear this today. I have been feeling a little discouraged since I have not lost my hunger and seem to be losing slower than others...but at least I am losing! You really made me feel more positive, thank you again! -
Seven Month Update (Pics Included)
KristinaRN replied to Felicity2u's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
YOU ARE GOREOUS!!! Seriously, I am blown away and so inspired by your post. 102 lbs since surgery 7 months ago is amazing and so impressive, good for you! You sound so happy, that is what this journey is really all about. Would you mind sharing your tips and strategies? For instance, how many calories/carbs/protein you get in a day, how much exercise, etc? That would be so helpful, thanks! -
Overdue encouragement post

What a beautiful post, thank you. I really needed this today. -
Wow you all are why I LOVE this forum! The support is so necessary in this journey. I'm excited to go to the store today and try some of your ideas. I only like eggs scrambled, so I have been having one for breakfast. And even though I am picky, I am lucky that I love most meats. Seafood, not so much, although I do like the frozen breaded fillets. I am trying so hard to shave some of the carbs off, they have always been my downfall, so I am so grateful for high protein ideas to have instead. I want so badly to succeed and do it the right way. I hope someday I can help each of you the way you have helped me! THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks for all of the great suggestions everyone! I know I am super picky, but at least I LOVE peanut butter, and have been having that with a few multi-grain crackers. I also supplement with a protein shake every day. I will give some of the other ideas a try, thanks again!

How Soon Were You Back To Work?
KristinaRN replied to Tai29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a nurse on a busy floor and work 12-14 hour shifts, so I took off 4 weeks which was perfect. If I had a desk job though, I would have been ready at 2 weeks. Good luck to you! -

I have heard good things about their program. I work for BJC, so I had my surgery done at Barnes by Dr. Varela (also a Center for Excellence). I have been very happy with my choice so far. I have lost 31 lbs total, 23 of that since surgery 5 weeks ago. I'm excited to see someone else from STL here! Would love to keep in touch and support each other along the way! Kristina -

6 weeks out and hungry!
KristinaRN replied to emmas mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just getting ready to post pretty much the same thing! I am 5 weeks out, and have NOT lost my hunger. It got better weeks 3 and 4, but the past few days its back. I get full on small amounts, which is great, but I am hungry again 2-3 hours later. Sooooo frustrating. Are you on a PPI? I am on generic prilosec 20 mg once a day, may need to increase it to twice a day. I have also found that the past few days I am having a much harder time saying no to carbs. I am so scared that I will fail this tool. Good luck to you, and let me know if you find anything that helps. -

You are GORGEOUS (before and after)! I am so excited for you, I bet that was a great feeling. My goal is also a size 8, can't even wrap my head around being that small :-) By the way, love the shirt, I live in St. Louis!!! -
Wow good for you! I am one month out now, and hope I am as successful as you have been. Would you please share what you have been eating, how much protein, calories, and carbs, etc? Thanks!

I used to be too fat and now I'm too thin...I just can't win
KristinaRN replied to enoughisenough's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I mean no offense, but I think you may benefit from seeking couseling as well. To want this problem is no more healthy than wanting to be obese. Godd luck to you both. -
Hey All-Stars! I lost 4 lbs this week, I am so excited! I weighed in this morning at 237.3, down from 241.3 last Saturday. I am down a total of 28.7 lbs (20.7 lbs since surgery Aug 24). And, I have lost 16 inches from my body in the month since surgery! I just got the all clear to start exercising after my sinus surgery 10 days ago, so hopefully that will rev things up a bit. I LOVE MY SLEEVE!!!
