I eat 4-5 "mini meals" a day, usually about 150-250 calories each. I can eat such a small amount at a time, but then I am hungry 2-3 hours later. This is working so well for me, I like the feeling of eating small amounts frequently and it keeps my energy levels stable through the day. This is what my surgeon recommends; even without WLS this way of eating is recommended because it stabilizes your metabolism and blood sugar levels. I have not lost my hunger completely, although it has decreased substantially, but this does keep the cravings at bay. Hope this helps!

Suggestions For "sleeve Friendly" Crackers?
KristinaRN replied to Lisa821's topic in Food and Nutrition
I have some form of cracker everyday, either with lunchmeat or peanut butter. I avoid potatoes, rice, pasta, and bread; this is my one carb indulgence. My favorites are: Crunchmaster Multigrain Crackers (I get them at Costco; they are soooo good with chicken salad) Suzies Flatbread Crackers (Also from Costco; I like these with thin sliced salami) Wasa Sesame (I like these with sliced turkey) Wasa Crisp n Light (I like these with peanut butter) Hope this helps! -
Hey All-Stars! How did everyone do this week? I weighed 205.7 lbs this morning, so I am down 3.7 lbs this week. Very excited! As much as I love the holidays, I am glad to be back to my normal eating routine. Onderland is just around the corner, and I can't wait! Hope you all have a good week! Kristina

I have no issues with light breading like this, as long as it isn't deep-fried. I should mention too, I used skim milk instead of eggs before the bread crumbs because my daughter is allergic to eggs. Worked great!

This is my first time posting in Success Stories, but that is what this feels like, a success! As of today I weigh 207.7 lbs, making me down 58.3 lbs. My goal is to lose 116 lbs total, so I am now HALFWAY THERE!!! I have 57.7 lbs to lose to hit my goal, and that feels so much more doable than 116! I am so grateful for this opportunity to finally lose the weight, and I finally feel like myself again after so many years of being uncomfortable in my too-large body. I know it sounds cliche, but I finally feel like I am in control and that I can really do this, and it is the best feeling. I lurked on this forum for months before my surgery, and it was these kind of stories that motivated me to finally do it; for anyone reading this that is still on the fence-DO IT!!! It is not a magic solution, you still have to work at it, but if you do the work IT WILL WORK!!!!

My biggest wish is to be able to pull tall boots over my thick calves! Also, I would love to be able to wear shorts in the summer, I have only worn capris for the past 7-8 years b/c I was so self conscious of my legs (I am very bottom heavy). Of course, being able to buy something pretty from Victoria's Secret would be nice too

I am not too happy with this number, wish it was higher, but at least I have lost right? I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas filled with laughter and love! I am so looking forward to what 2012 has in store!

Good morning All Stars!!! I had a pretty good week again; I am down 2.5 lbs this week, weighing in at 220 lbs today. I actually hit 220 yesterday (and stayed there today), which was my Thanksgiving goal-I made it 6 days early! I love my sleeve, and I am so thankful I was able to have this procedure done. Hope you all are having a wonderful week as well!

Hey All-Stars!!! I am down 2 lbs again this week, weighing in at 222.5 yesterday (11/12). I am inching closer to onderland, and getting anxious! My biggest issue right now is SLOWING DOWN when I eat. I have a hard time remembering to eat slowly, then I get an awful pain in my upper chest. Otherwise, I feel great and can tolerate most anything except doughy breads. LOVE MY SLEEVE!!! Have a great week friends!

I don't mind the new format, but I do not like that when someone replies to a post, it doesnt show their name!

I am 2 months out from surgery, and usually get 700-900 calories per day. I am an average to slow but steady loser. I am considering upping my calories to 900-1000 per day to see if that helps speed things up. I typically get about 50 grams of carbs and 70-100 grams of protein per day. I am wondering how many calories per day you all eat and how far out from surgery are you? Thanks!!!

How many calories per day?
KristinaRN replied to KristinaRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe instead of increasing calories, I will try to decrease my carbs to no more than 40 per day...what do you think? -
How many calories per day?
KristinaRN replied to KristinaRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am following my surgeons rules, which are Protein first, at least 65 grams of protein per day, lots of Water, and eat 5 small meals a day. He also says there is nothing wrong with Protein Drinks, and in fact they are recommended to boost your protein intake. I track everything I put in my mouth, and I eat very well, lots of fresh fruit, lean protein, and Peanut Butter. I am NOT getting these calories from junk. -
low carb low cal protein bars....
KristinaRN replied to meggspeggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein Crunch bars from Vitamin Shoppe are delicious. They are more like a wafer cookie than a granola bar, and only have 10 carbs. I highly suggest trying them! -
6 Week Follow Up Visit
KristinaRN replied to Kimberlina's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have to ask, how in the HECK have you lost 70 lbs in 7 weeks???? I am a week behind you, and I have lost 34 lbs, following my instructions to a tee. DANG you are rockin it! -
Hey friends! I lost 1.5 lbs this week, weighing in at 231.3 on Sunday. I too have been a slow loser. I get between 700-900 calories a day, under 50 carbs, and over 60 grams of protein, so I don't really know what I should change in order to speed things up. I am hoping that increasing my exercise will help. Good luck to you all!!!
