Really, that's it. Can we take tums, because I could really use some??? Thanks in advance.
-
Ok so I went to see the dr. and he seems to think it's nothing, but with no tests or anything I don't know how he comes to that conclusion, I still am having these radiating pains and I am just praying it's not a leak...
-
Ok people, here's the deal. I had my surgery on 2/7/11. Had a rough first two weeks, felt great ever since until right now and am a little bit nervous. I have lost 50lbs so far and that's great, but now all of a sudden I keep getting pain in and under my left arm, some pain in the left side of my chest. I don't know what this is, but it's not going away, it's been several hours. Please chime in people, let me know what you think, please someone tell me this isn't a leak. I'm a month and a day out and hardly getting enough food in, please let me know what yall think, thanks in advance.

Expected weight loss
Mike1981 replied to maine-lyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys, I had my surgery on February 7th and as of Monday I have lost 34lbs. I am pretty happy with that, but my point here is I had a bmi of like 59 to start and weighed 455lbs. So I think the reason I have lost as much as I have is because I have about 220lbs to lose. Well, good luck everyone!!! Just thought I'd weigh in, lol... -
Hey all, today I am ten days out and decided to jump on the scale. Well, I am down 27lbs since the day of surgery, I think this is kind of impressive, I still can't believe it myself. I actually am feeling like all the pain I'm still in on my right side is worth it. I mean I if this pain were gone I'd totally feel like myself, except not physically hungry for the first time. All though mentally I am starving, I understand head hunger and I hate it!!! Well just felt like sharing, I hope this weightloss continues at this rate for a little while and this pain goes away or maybe the doctor prescribes a painkiller that actually works. But the weightloss and absence of hunger are wonderful and I am starting to feel like I definitely made the right decision. Thanks for listening

Hey thanks Diva and congrats Patrick!!!

Thanks, I will try to add the ticker. I wish they would have gave me a binder in the hospital, I have a feeling it would have helped, oh well night all.
-
Hey thanks alot guys, no one gave me a band and I would add a ticker if I knew how. My pain got substantially worst today so the doctor sent me for a stomach x-ray. They say everything looks ok, except I have a blood clot inside the incision thats bothering me, but not the type that can break away and kill me. Thank God, its nothing to worry about but it is causing extra pain. I will get on the scale again next week and if someone would clue me in on what a belly band is and how to add a ticker, I would appreciate it. Thanks guys, your all so great!!!!

Can we take tums post op????
Mike1981 replied to Mike1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok well, I think I'm going to take a couple, thanks guys. Also, I see my surgeon for my first postop appointment Monday and I think I'm going to ask if I should take two nexium a day instead of one, maybe then I won't need tums!!! Thanks all -
Well, I was sleeved on Monday. Here's the good: 1. I am not hungry or interested in food at all 2. I am getting my fluids in pretty easily 3. I am walking around easily The Bad: 1. Ever since Tuesday morning, I have been in excruciating pain around the incision to the right of my belly button, it won't stop nothing helps and I think it's gas 2. I have not slept at all 3. I have not had a BM 4. This drain hurts 5. I'm tired and cranky and need reassurance I did the right thing, I know I did, but all this pain is getting to me Well, this is where I'm at at four days out, wish I felt better. Oh and the scale hasn't moved, this is getting very depressing. I have a very high tolerance for pain but this is just plain ridiculous. Ok I can't see the screen that good anymore so that's it for me.

The Good and The Bad so far....
Mike1981 replied to Mike1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks again guys, you know I think I keep forgetting my surgery took over four hours, on the day of surgery I weighed 451lbs. My body has been through alot and also is constantly going through alot thanks to my Crohn's Disease. Well, hopefully I'll feel better soon, I'll keep everyone posted. I have my first postop appointment Monday and am getting my drain out and moving on to full liquids, still no real appetite so I really don't care, which is so odd to me. Any good suggestions for what to eat on the full liquid diet??? Let me know guys and again thanks for everything. You guys are the best support system!!!! -
The Good and The Bad so far....
Mike1981 replied to Mike1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey thanks again guys it's now Saturday and I'm feeling a little better. Still having alot of pain in the right side of my stomach under the incision next to my belly button. This has become my problem area, I'm walking and sipping like crazy, but it doesn't really help and the percocet seems to be less and less effective. Now, I also have heartburn and I took my nexium, so idk what that's about. Does anyone know if we can take tums, I may just repost this question, because I can't remember for the life of me. Thanks again for everything guys it's great to hear from all of you, I don't feel so alone in this. Thanks alot -

Thanks everybody for all your thoughts and advice. I talked to my surgeon and he said I'm right where I should be at this point. I go to see him on Monday and hopefully get this drain out. I'm feeling a little better since he let me up my percocet, but still very aware of the pain. I will keep you all posted thanks again for everything, I don't know what I'd do without you guys to talk to about this -
Going under the knife Monday morning
Mike1981 replied to DougNichols's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good Luck Doug, let us know how it goes. I'm up next Monday!!! -
Hey Everybody, my name is Mike and I am new here. I am scheduled for VSG on 2/7/2011 with Dr. Brathwaite in Long Island New York. I am 30 years old today, well yesterday now it's after midnight. I am just starting my liquid diet tomorrow and have preop testing scheduled for 2/3/2011. I quit smoking about a month now. I am 461 lbs, 6'2 with a bmi of 58 or 59. I have severe sleep apnea, really bad acid reflux which has turned to Barrett's esophagus, and Crohn's disease to name just a few. So basically, I was told by my surgeon that the vsg would be the only choice for me, which I was very happy about because after doing much research of my own, I felt most comfortable with this choice. I am also very comfortable with this surgeon, he did my cousins surgery last year(she had rny) and she looks and feels fantasic. I have been very happy with my decision thus far, but now I am freaking out a little. I have like 240lbs to lose, can I lose all that with vsg? Am I making the right choice as far as surgeries go? Am I freaking and thinking these things becauseit's getting real now that it's actually here? Or is it the total lack of support from my select few people I chose to tell? Except for my cousin, not even my own mother is being very supportive. There are quite a few big people in my family, but no one as big as me and they act like I'm taking the easy way out and they do weight watchers, why can't I? Maybe because I have and always regain or hit a point where I can't lose anymore, and I watch all of them yoyo and it's not for me, not anymore. This is my story so far, I don't know, I might have just needed to vent, looking for some answers or reassurance or support. But it felt damn good to get it out to a group of people I know understand. Thanks for your responses or just "listening" Mike

Getting Sleeved 2/7/2011
Mike1981 replied to Mike1981's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks guys, I just think that I'm getting some serious nerves as this gets closer. It's like 97% of me is so excited about it and then there is this nagging 3% that is just horrified, between wondering what life will be like postop, if I'll lose the weight, and the thing I like the most and the least at the same time... The permanency!!! Well, other than that this liquid diet is Hell already, got such a migraine. So thanks again for the input and Goodnight all.
