What if laparoscopic will not work?
vol1cathy replied to kemo46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. too was concerned about possible scar tissue due to 2 previous surgeries. I had to sign a form to possibly open for the surgery but all went fine. Good luck you will do fine! -
After Surgery Questions
vol1cathy replied to Dadofpeace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! You will do great with the sleeve. In my Dr's notes men were allowed 70-80 g of Protein and women 60 and 30 to 60 carbs per day. I too think that 21 g of carbs is high but as long as you are counting them and don't go over it should work, but that would limit your carb drastically in your other foods. The gas was not bad for me but I was up and walking 2hrs after surgery. I did buy the gas-x strips but never used them. Good luck and keep us posted on how things are going! -
Am I lucky told I didn't need a PRE-OPT diets
vol1cathy replied to Guitrman's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
The more you loose before the further down the road you will be. Also my Dr. said it helped to reduce your liver size so it was easier to get to your stomach and reduce the risk of a nick to the liver during surgery. -
CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for you. What an awesome accomplishment! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Nutrition Facts For Foods

Work Travel - 2 Weeks Post-Op
vol1cathy replied to susnl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was fine traveling 3 weeks after my surgery. You need to really plan how you will handle your foods. Will you have a fridge and a microwave in your room? Also rest when you can, you will get tired a more quickly. -
progression of foods
vol1cathy replied to rylie19805's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on liquids for a month! Now a month of pureed food, then soft solids. -
I take OTC Generic Prilosec and it works just fine for me.

Transitioning from full liquids to pureed/soft foods!
vol1cathy replied to Nikki_D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr gave me this food list today for this phase of the diet: pureed moist Protein - any meat (excluding red meat) - chicken, fish, shrimp, crab, other seafood, pork, ham, turkey(no ground turkey) Tofu and soy products such as Morning Star Farms and Bocca Burgers (pureed & moist) Scrambled eggs (make sure eggs are moist) Refried Beans and dried beans (pinto, garbanzo, white, northern, etc) Small curd cottage cheese Low carb yogurt: choose a brand with less than 12 g of carbs Creamy Peanut Butter serving size 1 1/2 oz three times a day. Eat 3 meals per day, no snacking. Protein shakes count as a liquid, not a snack. They can be liquid between meals. -
