My name is Suzy. I am from New York City. I am having the VSG performed on January 31st, next Monday!

My doctors are the best around, being the first to experiment with bariatric surgery... put it this way, they did Al Roker's surgery! so you know I am in good hands :-) I am very excited to have this procedure because I have been overweight for most of my life. It took me 6 months to set a date (going to therapy, addressing my eating disorder, resolving issues... its amazing how emotions tie into our eating habits!) and my time is finally here.

I don't really have any medical reasons why I am doing this. I do not have diabetes, or high cholesterol, or hypertension, or any condition that might be caused by my obesity. I want to do this for me. My issues are not medical, they are psychological. I am 27 yrs old, college grad, have my own apartment, make a great salary, no kids etc. I am a catch... but my weight has always taken a toll on my self esteem. Finally, I am doing this because I do not want this weight issue to be a reason why my life is not the way I want it to be. :-)
