Mannamay, How lucky for you...I go for my consultation of 4/30/07...I am so excited for me and you!! Please keep me posted on what is going on w/ you... I'm not quite sure what to expect with the consultation that I have on Monday, but hopefully my stuff will be just as quick as yours. I do know that I have to attend 2 psych sessions and 2 nutrition sessions, beyond that, I'm not sure what else to expect...Good Luck!! aimee

I am so glad for you.....are you in North Carolina? If so, where?

I CAN FEEL YOUR PAIN.....I have a BMI of 36.8, with hypertension, sleep apnea, and incontinence (I sneeze, I pee). Anyway, I am hoping that with the 2 comorbities, I will qualify for the surgery. Out of the 5 children in my family, there are 4 of us on blood pressure medication. My oldest brother, 57yrs old, has about 3 months to live because of a massive heart attack that he had 6yrs ago. My grandmother had a stroke @ 42yo and died on her back porch; my dad had quadruple by-pass surgery @ 46yo. So, let's just say that I, too, am worried about the heart disease...let me know what your ins co. says about the lower BMI

I HAVE TO VENT (and rant a little)!!! :think I am going through the clothes in my closet and all of a sudden I started to cry....OMG! I have all of these clothes in there, that I wore before and now I can't fit into them...Before I made my decision to have the lap band, I knew that there were clothes in my closet that I couldn't wear anymore, but NEVER in my wildest imagination did I know that it was mostly ALL of my clothes. I don't know, maybe I am a little depressed in how I have let myself go...I lost 45lbs in 2001 by using Xenical - what do you know, I gained it all back and then some. I went from a size 18 down to a 10-12 and now I am up to a size 20!!! OMG!! :angry I have tried so many diets, I could become the "Fourth Fat Chick on a diet"!!! Am I feeling just a little sorry for myself? I was feeling a little amourous yesterday, called my hubby...know what he told me...? I'll call you when I need you.... Don't I feel like a sack of #$&@ ! I am hoping that by this time next year I won't need these few BIG GIRL clothes that I have now... I have my 1st Lap Band Class on 4/30/07....do they let you attend these classes if you aren't approved by your insurance for the surgery? Is this required before you get approval? OMG!! Can I wait 2-3 months? THIS IS NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH FOR ME!!!!!!!! I found a old friend of mine that I have been looking for for about 8yrs. I found her on myspace... She looks GREAT!!! When we were in high school, she was the larger of the two of us...looking at her pictures now...that made me cry even harder!!! I have been afraid to email her for fear of rejection. I hurt her feelings so very long ago. I apologized half heartedly back then, but it has still been in my heart...I miss her friendship. She always knew how to make me laugh. She was there when my boyfriend and I broke up (crushed me), she was there when I went crazy about it...she was there when my sister and I had our major falling out. But because of being pregnant, single and an all aroung #$#%head, I said something (can't really remember what they were now), I lost our friendship. That has been 12yrs ago. My sister looked her number up for me...but the fear of rejection still weighs on my mind... I suppose that I should just suck it up and call.....maybe I will..........just need the kahoonas!!

I am a medical assistant at a pediatric office, and I have had several patients that have had this same problem. One was just a behavior/attention problem, the other had issues with being hypoglycemic. If I were you, I would explore all options for this. Good luck!!!

How are you feeling? Do you have much pain? I will keep thinking about you and your progress...you are so lucky to have the surgery hurdle behind you.... Take care...
-
thank you for listening....I decided to put those clothes undermy bed for safe keeping...I guess I was just a little on the down side this morning when I got up this morning...I am feeling much better now. The cry really helped me. so do you have the class if you aren't approved for surgery yet?

I am new to posting messages. Here it goes! I am 35 yrs old and am tired of being "fluffy" as my daughter puts it. I have tried everything under the sun to lose weight, from xenical, starvation, and my last straw was accupuncture. Needles in the ear!!! :cry What was I thinking? Anyway, my sister has been insisting that I investigate the gastric banding, so I made up my mind last monday that I would. I have spent all week getting my medical records together, sleep study info and impatiently waiting until monday when I can go to the surgeon that does lap banding in my area just to fill out paper work . I'm a very impatient person, but I don't want to rush into anything. I want this done right. Besides, health is really the main reason that I am doing this. My brother, right now, has 3-6 months to live because of heart related issues. I have two children that I want to be around for. I have a significant family history of early death due to heart issues. I don't want that to be me. I have done my homework and found out that my insurance will pay for the gastric banding surgery, but I have to have it done before august due to deductibles. I am about 90-100 lbs over weight with several other factors that would make me a candidate for the banding. My BMI is 36 and I am 5'3" @ 205lbs. FLUFFY!!! What I want to do is talk to people that have had this done and what I can expect. My best friend had the bypass and she is down 125#, but her procedure is different that what I want. Please respond with your information.:help:

learning the ins and outs

23# in a month! that's amazing!! When you said the weight would come off slower, I was thinking maybe 5-10#, That's great. I went today to fill out my paperwork just to get an appt w/ the dr. in my area. I go there on 5/21/07. NOT SOON ENOUGH!!! But w/ the request that IF there is a cancellation that I be called immediately - YEAH, right!! Anyway, the first hurdle is over. From what I understand, they wont give you an appt if your insurance is questionable. Evidentally mine is pretty good.:clap2: -
don't the doctors numb the site with EMLA cream or 1% Lidocaine before the fill? Just curious. Went today to fill my paperwork out for the consultation

My last straw was accupuncture! 5 needles in each ear, 1 in the tops of both feet, 4 in each leg. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Am I stupid? This was it. No more!!! "It's suppose to curb your cravings" Hokey Pokey!! The only thing I got was a sore ear!!! That night I made up my mind....

I live in wilmington and am interested in the lap band because it not as invasive as the rny. what kind of weight lose can I expect once having the procedure? I am trying to get all of my ducks in a row before I spring this on my husband (skinny man himself). He thinks that all anyone needs to do is diet and excercise to lose weight. Please advise soon. I go monday to fill out my "pre-consultation" paperwork.
