I wanted to know how some of you decided to pay in Mexico. I have an appointment to meet with the doctor and get initial blood work done on the 19th of this month and will then set up a surgery date in Monterrey with Dr. Graciano de la Fuente Reta. I am paying with cash, obviously, but I wanted to know what to do because I have several options. I can pay with dollars or, I can pay with pesos or, I can deposit into his bank account here in Texas. What did you guys do??? Thanks guys.

GETTING MY SLEEVE BANDED...
alicosani replied to LULU TATT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest getting some bloodwork done to see what your thyroid is doing. My aunt had lap band done and she had the same issue. She got stuck after loosing only 40 lbs. She had her thyroids checked and it turns out she had hypothyroidism. She got on the correct medication and has lost an additional 62 lbs. So check that also. Good luck. -
Outpatient VS Inpatient?
alicosani replied to Goddardgo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be outpatient in Mexico also. My aunt had it this way and it went just fine for her. She had her surgery at 8 am and was released the next day at about 10 am, making it a 26 hour stay. She had no need to even call the doctor, because he explained things so clearly. I will be doing the same thing at the end of this month. I do think its a personal choice. I also wanted to make a comment about the death mention. I am not sure people read the side effects information. Surgery is a risk, nothing is fool proof and human bodies all react differently to different siguations. Death is a reality and it should be seen that way. So instead of speaking so poorly about the doctors, realize that this happens everywhere in the world, and can happen to the best of them. -
Hi. I am new to the forum and have found it so useful! I am planning to have Gastric Sleeve surgery in March, 2011. I have been speaking to a doctor in Monterrey Mexico for about 8 months now and he and his staff have been super helpful with my million questions. I actually have my first appointment with him on January 21. I will be traveling to Monterrey to see him. His name is Dr. Graciano de la Fuente Reta. He is located at the same hospital as many of the more expensive doctors, so I am a bit concerned at why he is a bit cheaper then everyone else. He has done over 500 bypasses so I am sure he knows what he is doing. My question is has anyone heard of him, or has had experience with him. Thanks so much for your help! Hope someone can help.
