Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hi Janiebug and others asking about vitamins. Have you tried Emergen C? It's a megadose of vitamin C 1000 mg 10 mg of B6 and 25 mcg of B12 (that's 417% of RDA) plus other good stuff in single serving pouches - mix one pouch with 2 -3 ounces of water - it fizzes like an alka seltzer, but does not taste bad at all - My personal favorite is tangerine. If you don't like the flavor, it's only 3 ounces, so you can continue with plain water. I get mine at Trader Joe's, but my grocery store also has them in the vitamin aisle. It's a great energy boost and also an amazing hangover cure. Not that anyone here would overindulge in useless calories, , but just in case....

that's a good idea. Yes, the icky sweet kool aid taste isn't my thing either. I hadn't thought of cutting them with water. Try the New Whey shooter - 1.5 ounces (half a tube) is a quick hit, then you can go back to nice, plain cool refreshing, unsweetened water.

I didn't know that about 25 gms at a time. That's good to know. btw - the 3 oz shooters are called New Whey - I'm taking half per day as a little boost, since the protein 'shake' is only good for 18 gms, and i'm in the full liquid, or gruel stage, so cream soup doesn't hold much protein.

I got a 3 ounce shooter of liquid Protein at the local muscle-head store. It has 42 gms of protein and 176 calories, so its a quick protein fix that won't blow your calories for the day. So far I've only had grape, but I understand their are other flavors. Also, Isopure protein Water - 40 gms in a 20 oz bottle. I made Jello out of the isopure so now my sugar free snack actually has some nutritional value. Lauralee

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Good morning all. Had an interesting weekend - 10 days post op. Pulled some weeds -not too much, did some laundry - - Later in the day had awful pain. I think I dislodged some gas bubbles or something because it really set me on my heels. Has anyone else had this experience? I didn't think it was possible to still have that excess gas floating around in there, but since the pain travelled, and the heating pad helped, that's my best, unprofessional diagnosis. Any thoughts? Lauralee

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Hello Adorable I'm 11 days post op and have been stomach-growling hungry almost every day. The good news is that a half cup of gruel later, I'm full to the gills. I'm looking forward to my first fill helping to kill the hunger. Dropping the pounds quickly makes the growling a lot more bearable.

hello all I'm reading this thread and noticing that a lot of you have progressed to mushie food in about a week's time. My protocol called for 1 week of clear liquids, two weeks of full liquids, then gruel, then soft food (not sure of the difference) I've been doing full liquids since my surgery 4/26, and indulged in 2 tbs of creamed spinach the other night with my 4 oz of tomato soup. I'm losing weight like crazy, but damn near threw myself at a man discussing his wife's pot roast the other day. In your collective experience, is mushy safe 8 days post op? I'd kill for a well chewed scoop of mac n' cheez. Also - here are a few protein enhancing tips. 1 - I made two kinds of cream soup using soy milk instead of cream, or 1%. Make your cream of broccoli, potato leek, whatever, the way you usually do, just use the soymilk instead. You get calcium AND protein. 2 - I made jello using isopure protein water instead of the usual 2 cups of boiling water. Now good ol jello (which of course, qualifies as a clear liquid) actually has some nutritional value. (9 grams in a 1 cup serving, 4.5 grams ina 1/2 cup serving.) Have a good weekend everyone! I have been banded!!!

Hi Tina I'm one-week post op today (thursday) - woo hoo - and feeling great. Walking helps a lot, even swinging your arms over your head - anything to get the gas moving around. Heating pads helped tremendously and don't forget an ice pack on your belly. Good luck and hope you feel better. Lauralee
  10. does anyone know why there is a prohibition on caffeine? L

Hi there Tracy My big day is 4/26, too and I can't wait. I've been at this since October trying to navigate the healthcare system here in South Jersey. The insurance approval was a snap, but the bureaucracy was unbelievable. I'm down about 15 pounds and sooooooo looking foward to getting on a plane in June and not stressing over whether or not the seatbelt will click. Roller coasters this summer, too! Good luck to you next week. Lauralee
  12. My doc asked me to lose 10 pounds through diet and exercise, and I'll be on full liquids for one day post op. 4/26 is the big day. Can't wait.
