    Post op tummy tucker's

OMG, you look fabulous, and soooooooooooo SKINNY, I'd like to loose another 15kg before having my tummy done. Do you mind if I ask about private cover, did it cover the op, or did you have to pay big bucks. I heard somewhere that, if someone looses a lot of weight and has this excess skin, it is not considered as cosmetic anymore, but kind of a follow up after the wls. WELL DONE edited: forgot to say, one fantastic way to reduce scarring and to hasten the healing is to apply neat emu oil twice a day. you'll be amazed at the results if you're interested I can give you couple of contact sites where to get it, depending on where you live. Just a thought

    New to site, seeking help!

There are lots of calculators on the internet to find out what your weight should be, but dont be too rigid about it some of them are way too crazy and suggest a weight that is just nor reasonable. I had a quick look and this one is just the ave. it gives you several options. As far as being a slow looser, well dont worry for some of us it just takes longer. Plus I think that we all loose reasonably fast in the first 12-18 months and then things really slow down. I am seriously thinking of going on a low carb diet, nothing drastic, just cut out potatoes, rice and pasta, and still have plenty of other vegetables and fruit. Anyway here is that link, but if it doesnt suit you, I am sure you'll be able to find others on the net. You've done well so far, good luck http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm

  14. OK! So how does the 9th of September sound to everyone and do we want to make it around 12.30-1.00 ish for lunch. Costello sounds good to me, has it got a playground? Is it like a restaurant? If it is we better be sure that we can make it otherwise it can get embarrasing. Can everyone email me please, I think I set my profile for no emails and will change it now, if it doesnt work can you please pm me. Its so exciting, I have two friends that are banded and see if they can come along too Hear from you all
  15. racermom, if you have just learned about the band, make sure you do a lot of research before you decide. I have been banded for 2.5 years and this is my second band I have have problems with this one too, in oct I am having the third op in as many years. This is a great place to start, but dont just read, the good part, read some of the not so good threads, and make sure you're well informed. Would I do it again? Yes, in a heartbeat, even with all the problems I had. One thing to remember the band is a tool, you will have to work very hard with it, to make it work, but if you do then you can look forward to a new you.

    Gas pains after 3 months?

I am not a doctor, so take this with a grain of salt..lol Gas pains as in "gas" left in the abdomen after surgery is normal for a few weeks after surgery, but if you havent had that sort of pain for a while like you Letty I honestly dont think its anything do do with the gas that your tummy is blown up with during surgery. I think you had a blockage, and it didnt go down or only some of it went down, and yo may even have a bit of bruising there if it was a bad one. Terez, same with you, if you get this kind of pain in the shoulder its probably food that is pressing on the band trying to pass, I used to get a pain when this happened between my shoulder blades. Some ppl get it on their chest Scribby, yours is most probably gas left from the op, since its only been a short while, heat packs sometimes help, others actually have to take pain killers. I know that fizzy drinks are not recommended by most doctors, but when I get a blockage and only when I have a blockage I will have some coke, it will either make the stuck food go down or up. HIH

    Food's Question

Everybody is different, in my case with my first band I could not eat raw tomatoes only cooked, corn was ok if I chewed it to pulp same with watermelon and strawberries, cucumber was a bit difficult sometimes it would stick, the key to it all is to take small bites and chew, chew chew, and take your time in eating everything.
  19. Reggie, Not having restriction doesnt mean your band is not in the right position, it only indicates that you need a bit more fill, and sometimes to find that 'sweet spot' takes a few goes. Until then try and eat more often but small amounts, that way you wont be hungry and also you'll be curbing the calories

    Oh, my goodness!

Yes, I saw that, and she acted like a moron, like "so what's the big deal", unfortunaly she'll be on the road probably until she hurt someone seriously Be careful, these idiots, never get hurt but harm others around them:angry
  21. I would be happy to organize it:) Perhaps everyone interested could send me a private message, just click on my user name and a box will come up then choose prive message. I propose in about 3-4 weeks time on a saturday afternoon, somewhere for coffee, venue will discuss it in the messages. I am really looking forward to meeting you all :Banane27:
  22. It's amazing what doctors dont pick up along the way. I had my first band replaced last Sept. bc it slipped, my surgeon is Prof. O'Brien and follow up doc is John Dixon. From day one, as soon as I woke up I kept telling them this band doesnt feel right, straight away it was as if I had a tight rope right under my rib cage and could only take short breaths, then I go home and had these excruciating pains in my left side, again under my ribs, something like a stitch but would last for half an hour at a time. So they tell me its gas trapped after the op. That went on for months, in the meantime I developed what I would call colic, I tell you I know why poor little babies scream when they have colic. I had and still have to this day so much gas that its incredible, it feels like twins kicking around in my tummy. Seen my gp, who is as useless as tits on a bull (looking for another one), gone to prof number of times, then of course to John Dixon, and they all just guessed this and that. Three weeks ago I was in so much pain and misery that I insisted on a barium, then a colonoscopy and endoscopy. WELL the endoscopy showed that my band is in the wrong position, right on top of the esophagus (sp), in other words I have no pouch:omg: , so the air that I swollow gets trapped below my band and cannot come back. I am having my band repositioned/replaced on the 4th Oct. My third operation in less than three years. I am furious. Sometimes I think I should have the band out, and grow up.:cry Sorry guys, this was a long rant, but there is really no one who completely understands what I am going through, including my family, think you have to be fat, banded to really relate to another person in a similar position. Thanks for listening edited: Anyone interested in a get-together, we all seem to live in the same area
