I had VGS on July 27, 2010. I have lost 70 pounds and most of my hair so far.
I have had problems with excessive belching and vomiting since day one. Any time I eat it might stay down and might not.
My surgeon is not very responsive to my issues. I have told him from the beginning that something was wrong and he just kept telling me that it was just too soon after surgery. I saw my primary care doctor and she felt that I had an obstruction of some kind. Called the surgeon and they ordered an upper gi series which showed a partial stricture which eventually opened up and an ulcer. Now I am waiting for the surgeon to get back with me and let me know how to fix it. Very frustrating.
I haven't lost any weight in the last six weeks and my primary care doc says its because my body is in starvation mode and my metabolism is non-existant right now. Hopefully, when I am able to eat better I will start to loose again. Working very hard to get my vitamins and supplements in and my vitamin levels are improving. Protein is another story. I have found Special K protein bars which I am able to eat and keep down. Can't keep any kind of liquid protein drink down. Plain water makes me nauseous so I drink G2 and do good if I get 40 oz of liquid in daily.
I will say that if I had known that I was going to have such a struggle I wouldn't have done the surgery. But, whats done is done and now just have to figure out how to live with it. Hopefully, we will get my stomach issues figured out and I will feel better, eat better and start loosing again.
I work 10 hour days and don't have the energy to exercise yet.
