Well hello all my biker buddies.......Guess what I did today????????? Yes you guessed right I had the bike shop order my NEW TREK HYBRID BIKE.....GO ME, GO ME, GO ME!!!! I raise Pomeranians, and I like to buy new additions, but decieded to pass this time, and do something for ME that will me it easier for me to enjoy my rides. I am giving my Schwinn that I just bought to my daughter to use. I had myself fitted and tried one of the other ones he had there in a different color, but wanted a certain one so he ordered it for me. He will put it together, and than have me come in to get me fitted properly... I am excited...He is even trying to get me to ride in the bike ride in the town Aug. 2....I told him I didnt know if I was ready, and he said I could stop when I needed to stop...so??? Who knows, I may.... Just wanted to share.....This is better than a new puppy...and they dont potty on your floor...LOL

hoosierpoms replied to Bamalama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU ON THIS THREAD WHO EITHER WAS JUST BANDED OR ABOUT TO BE. i WAS THERE A MONTH AGO..AND YOU ARE RIGHT YOU HAVE TO BE COMMITTED. I DIDNT LOOSE RIGHT AFTER SURGERY AS MUCH BUT AFTER 4 WEEKS AND ME STARTING TO EXERCISE AGAIN, IT IS COMING OFF. I HAVE NOT BEEN SICK AND I AM EATING BETTER THAN EVER... GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU -
Hello everyone....we have all done really well this week, we should give a HIGH 5 to each one of you. Whether you did 5 miles or 50 miles this week, whether you exercised 1 time or 7 times GOOD JOB!!!! This message board has been a great inspiration for me and a place where I am accountable for what I do. I dont want to get on here at the end of the day with an excuse....it is only going to hurt me in the long haul.....so...today...NONE!!! NO excuses!!!! It is amazing what getting just some of the excess weight off does for you..can you guys imagine when we get all of it off. Lets start week 2 with adding to what we did this week, increasing it to your ability, either an extra mile, or extra 10 min.......WE CAN BEAT THIS!!!! GOOD JOB EVERYONE!!!
-
thanks I will look at those too....we rode again last night...can't even believe we were almost at 13 miles.....un real....LOL Have a good day
-
I am sorry!!!! Why is your husband sabatoging your diet and bringing in something to the house that only you like???? That is not helping you at all. I am like that with chicken....OMG I had some fried chicken about 3 weeks ago, and man.....I had to make myself leave and not eat anymore. There is a grocery store that sells some that I like, and I refuse to even walk by that area....almost have to keep myself from going into that store most of the time just becauase I could buy like 5 chicken legs and eat eveyone before I even get home. The band is a tool, but doesent work on our head......hmmm....someone should invent something to go along with this..LOL Good luck.....dont give up...and if you need anything, email...

When I first had my surgery, the evening times were my WORST ENEMY!!! I decieded right than that in order for me to not want to eat all the time, I was going to need to change something. I started that being my time to exercise. So, I got mad at myself one night, and took off walking. Haven't stopped since. I usually am either walking or riding my bike now for exercise. The hunger and desire to eat at my worst time, is slowly changing......I now am occupying that time with alternatives, and it is working wonders for me. I know it is allot harder when you have small kids...if you cant leave them at home with someone, can you take them along? I know it may not be a perfect solution, but at least you would be out of the house... Just my suggestion.... Good Luck...

I have eaten flat out it is sort of like pita just not as thick. I have to only eat half..but I am not a HUGE bread eater anyway, and this satisfies me. Have you tried it???
-
lol.....we just got back from another 5.5 mile ride.....I REALLY WANT A DIFFERENT BIKE!!!! What kind of Raleigh do you have
-
Wow, sorry about your accident, that just plain ole sucks!!!!! Juli, I went to a bike store today.....really shouldnt of done that..LOL We had just rode almost 8 miles( 7.55) and I thought what the heck. I rode a Trek hybrid......yea, well......I may be giving this bike to my 16 year old..LOL But before I do, I am going to several bike shops to see what they have and ride them and see how they feel. I like it becuase the guy said he would fit me to the right frame, etc......and I dont know, it just felt different. It actually had smaller tires than my current hybrid? But we did get our ride in this morning and it felt allot better than gravel..... be safe today everyone......and have fun...
-
Thanks Deanna....you are right, of I am not comfortable I wont ride...so I am happy I got it where I want it. We are leaving in a few to go ride. I was excited my scale says and has said since Wed. that I am down to 286....I am hyped. Shows me sweating and moving is WORKING..... Well, have a great day everyone....
-
Congrats Juli on your miles today. I went an got me a new seat, and messed with the seat adjustment until I was comfy in it (and not where my husband thinks it needs to be) He thinks it needs to be up higher but I am not ready for that and not confident in my ability yet for that...that will come. I ended up riding here again tonight, but we are going in the morning to the lake at the DAMM and riding which is our normal place to go anyway. I felt better about myself tonight, and have confidence that each time I get in the seat it will be a new start.....I do remember at 322, which Is where I started, I would never of attempted what I am doing. My goal is to get on it and ride....I may even set a goal for me each week..we will see how tommorow goes. My husband is even fixing his old Raliegh bike up so he can use it instead of the mountain bike ..... Have fun tommorow!!!
-

thank you.... I was riding 5-6 miles on my 1 speed granny bike....Not sure why this is so diffucult...talk about totally feeling unfit.... Thanks for the support......
-
Ok, I feel like I have never been on a bike before, it seems to be kicking my butt big times. We are not on our normal route do to the rain, and are on a gravel road, but we are trying to adjust my seat in order for it not to hurt my knees, and I feel like I am going to fall. When I am peddling, that my legs have never ever been on a bike. I am so upset. I was so excited about getting my bike, and for the first time in a long time I feel like I am not ready to be on a bike becuase I still have so much too loose. I am sorry for whining, I just dont want to give up, and yet I feel totally unfit after riding just short distances. Thanks for listening.
-
Shrinking Violet....may I ask what type of Hybrid you upgraded too? I just love being active. You couldnt of pushed me out the door 4 months ago, and now I am taking time to walk, ride, and just be up and about....Loosing weight is a huge motivation as well...LOL I would love to get to 10 miles....my husband is going to adjust my bike for me tonight, and my goal is 5-6 as long as it does not rain...Suppose to be nice here all weekend, so i plan to be out an about..
-
you are awesome...are yu from Indiana??? You should check out that web site for the Hilly 100.....it is under central indiana bikers club. Thanks for all the advice.........You are just great!!
-
NO...I didnt get it at a bike shop....I bought the Schwinn Hybrid at Target. It was within my budget for now, and It felt comfortable when I was riding it in the store, just thought seat needed to be adjusted. I will tell my husband what you said, and hopefully we can get it adjusted tonight. The bike may end up being my daughters if I cant get it adjusted correctly...
-
thanks!!! May need to get up to 20 miles a day before I can get to 164!!!! LOL there is also one called hilly 100. It takes place in October. You can choose the 2 day trip or just the one. I would LOVE TO get conditioned for that, but we will see. My new bike kicked my butt last night. Having trouble getting use to the gears knowing when to switch and when not too, and my knees seem to be coming up to high? Not sure if my seat is needing to go higher or what the issue is....But it was allot easier than riding the comfort bike, and I was riding on a gravel road in front of my house. Heck with the rain, we only got in under 3 miles...but it was better than nothing..planning on getting more in tonight...I am addicted!!!!!

YOU SEEM TO KNOW ALLOT ABOUT BIKES AND YOUR WEIGHT LOSS SHOWS IT. WHEN I BOUGHT THE BIKE YESTERDAY AND BROUGHT IT HOME, THE ONLY THING THAT SEEMED TO BOTHER ME LAST NIGHT WAS HOW MY KNEES CAME UP HIGHER THAN THEY NORMALLY HAD, WHICH CAUSED MY KNEES TO HURT SOME. DO I NEED TO RAISE MY SEAT, OR HANDELBARS, OR BOTH. MY HUSBAND THINKS IT IS BECAUSE THE DISTANCE BETTWEEN THE SEAT AND THE PEDALS ISNT FAR ENOUGH... I JUST AM CURIOUS. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO RIDE LONGER, AND GET MORE OUT OF MY RIDE, BUT I ALSO DONT WANT TO HURT MYSELF. THANKS!!!!:help:

Every day is a choice!
hoosierpoms replied to Bamalama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your post...I have copied it and am putting it up on my fridge and at work. You are right we do make the choices each an every day..we have to be strong and be supportive of our new eating. We also have to surround ourselves with Positive people. When we do this, we get stronger. I am very lucky I have support right now, becuase with the weight loss slower, I am increasing my daily movement, which is finally making the scales move again!!! Ok, sorry, I rambled. Thanks again,
