Juli, I read back through the post and found yours from earlier.... I hate it when I am at work and dont check the postings...but it does pay the bills. So, do you think a gell seat would be the thing for me to get for my BIG BUTT??? I dont want a HUGE seat, but it has to be more comfy than what came with it. I hope it quits raining here today becuase I want to get back on and ride tonight....I have not been walking this week at lunch and just riding at night, so i need to make sure I get it in....

I live about 5 hours away from where the bike ride is going to be, and have not talked my husband into it completly. he wants me to prove I can do the one in August before I make a big committment..I say screw it....I WILL DO IT !!!!! Well, YOu are nice, and I like having you guys to talk to. it is nice to get positive reinforcment...... How are you feeling today? Your arm / shoulder any better??? Take it easy or you will be off your bike longer than you want. And BTW...I have a hybrid bike....I hope i can pull off the long time on the seat....

Hey guys.. I actually picked up the brochure, and it is about 5 hours from my house....which is DOABLE!!!!!! I would be in for the 50....we can do it in 2 days correct??? I am riding in a 21 mile ride on the 5th of August, and that will tell me for sure what I can do. But if I am going that far, I will be doing the 50!!!! I think I can build myself up to that by than.... I just love it... I rode our normal route tonight(our evening route) and did 6 miles in 35 min. Pulled several hills, and only walked half of one, and than I got back on my bike and rode the rest of the way.... I was so excited. I had not wanted to go..it had been SO hot...but it had cooled down, and am SO glad I went... I am in the central/southern Part of Indiana...about 45 min south of Bloomington. They opened up a new casino about 10 miles from me at a historic older town. Larry Bird is from there, French Lick, In. I work at a Naval base (Crane) for the Navy as a contractor. I will keep you posted, but I think I will see if we can work something out for September. O, Wonder if we can camp there??? Thanks everyone.... Traci
-
I had a comfort bike until I got my hybrid, and have rode the comfort bike a few times since, and u are right BIG difference. I cant wait to get my new one next week. We are going camping all next weekend, planning on using it there, hope it is what I excpected...

Who Has Joined A Gym Or Do You Work Out At Home?
hoosierpoms replied to violeteyes37's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am biking and walking on my own for free. I do want to maybe get a gym membership during the winter months to keep myself going, start toning, and build strength in my legs, but for now, I will take advantage of the free activities that I can do. I walk at least 2 miles each day at lunch, and than at night either walk or ride bikes. Good luck......anything you are doing is more than what you WERE doing!!!! -
Deanna, yea I guess we are lucky. One of our auto's is a Tundra, and well lets just say it gets pretty pricey filling it up..LOL We have a small kia spectra now that we got to replace our camry after my daughters wreck, and it is getting around 38 miles to a gallon...pretty impressive...just not my camry!!!! Jc....even you need a break......")

I was waiting on insurance approval for about 28 days. AS soon as I got my approval, I made my pre-op appointment, and than set the date 10 days after that visit. I was on a 10 day liquid diet for those days, and it was hard, but I made it through. I did cheat and eat some lean chicken at times, but more towards the start of it than later. After surgery, I was back at work in 2 weeks. Some go back sooner, but I chose to stay home the extra week. Good luck and I hope you dont have to wait too long... Traci

Does anyone regret being banded?
hoosierpoms replied to kero's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No regrets from me either. I was never changing the way I was. With just under 40lbs lost, I am doing more than I have done in years...I am biking now, and walking. I got in almost 40 miles just last week between the 2. It is making me stay on track, and be accountable...and although I am not at the perfect tightness yet, I know it is there, but it is MY responsibility to form the relationship with the band so it will give me the final outcome I desire. I have had my slip ups, and right now I can still eat more than I should be able to, but other than that I am totally content. Good luck with your surgery!!! -
IS just awesome!!! I find myself checking it so many times....LOL JC...50 miles...pretty impressive. I bet when you were at your highest weight, you never dreamed you would be doing that? Heck, every day I can't believe I went so long being un-active...how boring??? Juli, I know what you mean, the bike seems to just call out for us. Deanna...isnt gas just awful?? What does it run where you are at?? We are at $3.09 a gallon again here...wish I could bike too work. I love to be in the water....I would loved to have jumped in after last nights ride. It is hot and humid here and the water would of been great. Well, have a good day Traci

Juli Thanks...still learning, and my husband told me my speed was fine, the distance is what I need to work on. But we ended up riding 10.25 yesterday morning, and another 6 last night. So.....I overslept this morning was planning on a morning ride, but I think my husband was POOPED, of course he would never admit it...LOL Everyone have a great day...Deanna, hope you had a good ride this morning
-
jc...wow, I feel good that I was able to do the ride today and kept the average up. We went again this evening but we went to an area at the state park on the bike trails, and they werent the best of trails, and was allot of up and down...my average stunk tonight.....but oh well..... I found out my bike is done, so I will be getting it either Monday or Tuesday....I cant wait. Well, take care everyone...I am off too bed.

JULI, Sorry to hear you are sick, hopefully it will be a quick recovery for you. I have decieded i need to condition myself if i am going to ride in the 21 mile ride on Aug. 5.....that is only 3 weeks from now!!!! So, we found a good flat road, with a nice bike trail on the side and started there this morning. I am averaging only 11.6 miles an hour, (which is up from 7.5 3 weeks ago) and we rode 10.25 miles. I got up to 17.6 miles which was the max... I want to go further tommorow morning, but this was a good start for me to guage where i am and what I need to do. Defianatly cant wait until my new Trek bike is done. He got it in and is building it, thought I would get it today??? Havent hear from him yet!!! So, anyway...glad everyone is still doing ok...Juli take care of yourself.....

First fill this morning-restriction at last!!!
hoosierpoms replied to tachlime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LISA0552 i AM DOING OK....DONT BE NERVOUS ABOUT THE FILL...IT REALLY IS NOT THAT PAINFUL IT JUST FEELS WEIRD.... I AM READY FOR MY NEXT ONE...I CAN TELL.....I CAN EAT WAY TOO MUCH AT A TIME, AND I KNOW THAT IS WHAT HAS STALLED MY WEIGHT LOSS THIS WEEK. I HAVE BEEN BIKING NOW OR WALKING, AND AM GOING TO RIDE IN A 21 MILE RIDE ON AUGUST 5...I REALLY NEED TO GET READY FOR THAT....RIGHT NOW I AM AVERAGING ABOUT 12 MILES AN HOUR AND WE WENT 10.25 MILES THIS MORNING. I HAVE BEEN WALKING 2-2.5 MILES AT lunch AN THAN EITHER RIDING AT NIGHT OR WALKING...I THINK I SKIPPED ONE NIGHT THIS WEEK... SO, HOPEFULLY AFTER THE 26TH AND I GET MY SECOND FILL, IT WILL START COMING OFF AGAIN. LET ME KNOW HOW MONDAY GOES.......AND REMEMBER TO FOLLOW DOCTORS ORDERS ABOUT WHAT YOU EAT AFTER.... TRACI -
A-May-zing Bandits July Challenge
hoosierpoms replied to METALBAND's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Margret, I seem to just have the opposite problem...I am getting way too much Water in...LOL I seem to have a bottle with me all the time. I am doing pretty good with the exercise, been biking and walking, and the first week after the fill I was loosing, now this week...IM STUCK ON ONE WEIGHT!!! it is real frustrating and I seem to want to eat more than I should....like 2 chicken breast instead of one.....but than it goes right through me(which has happened on some of my walks) NOT GOOD!!!! We have bad habits, and the band is only a Tool, not a fix all solution...I keep telling myself it will get better....can't wait for that too happen! Keep up all you are doing that is positive, and make daily adjustments to your diet....it will get better... -
ThAt WOULD BE AN AWESOME TRIP....I THINK 13 MONTHS AWAY IS DOABLE, I WENT ONLINE AND LOOKED AT THE JOURNEY..WOW...THAT IS ALLOT OF MILES.....EVEN THOUGH I CANT SEE MYSELF DOING IT, I WOULD LOVE TO TRAIN FOR IT.
