ok, everyone......I have a confession to make.................. I know we all know I bought a new bike this spring. It is a Giant FCR2. The guy at the LBS (bigger one then here local) told me it is the same components etc as a road bike but with flat handelbars....OK....I do like it, I really do...allot better performance then my hybrid bike. But....I still had this itch for the "true" road bike. So, I have been watching....test rode some gorgeous Trek road bikes this past week.....still want one that I test rode...... But.....I found this gal who had a 2001 Trek 1000 road bike for sale. She bought it in Illinois before she started college, and rode it about 40 miles. The bikes tires still had signs of it being new,etc.....The bike has sit for the last several years in her garage in Indy. She had no clue about the bike, becuase she thought it was a 52cm, when it said RIGHT ON THE frame it was a 54... Anyway.....I bought it from her. Yes, I know...It has allot of the older style heavier components on it, but all in all.....it is a sharp bike. I will get a picture of her later and send it along as well. So, we went bought a decent seat for her, and clippless pedals....a total must...... It had cages....hated them.... So, john has worked on it since yesterday, greasing it, getting the kinks out of the chain......adjusting the handelbars, etc...... So, I am planning on taking it out on a test ride this afternoon again. I rode it some yesterday....it was not bad......not as smooth as the NEW trek bike.... But....I have decieded that I should ride this one, pick it apart for the components I like and dislike, then I will know what I am looking for for sure. It is defiantly allot different riding position then my Giant bike.....(which we are taking along today just in case.) Anyhow....just wanted to share

I am not excited about it but....i am hoping to get to plan for the one apple cider festival...so we will see how that works. hey J What kind of pedals did you switch to??? Are they Shimanos??? And about the comment of friday...I misread the article and thought you had a ride this weekend....I am sorry??? We had a interesting ride this weekend The wind was AWFUL!!!!! We did the 31.5 mile ride, and it was a chore to hit 8 miles and hour on some of the ride just due to the bad wind. They say it was blowing around20-30mph...and believe me...it was BAD! My 14 year old was so ready to stop...but she didnt and we are very proud of her...... The event was not well run at all.. We paid 25 bucks per person, and there was NO SAG SUPPORT along the routes at all......of course we could call his cell if we needed anything...but still. Then one of the roads was at least 1.5 miles of wet gravel, huge gravel in places...needless to say, us and other more experienced bikers were walking at this point. No sense blowing a tire or hurting yourself. We were tired, but thrilled to of completed it....(I would love to of stopped, but......I didn't) Today we got on again and rode a little under 10 miles before we left the campground for our drive home. Nice to see the new gal Wendy on here.....please....read back to this time last year....we ALL started where you are...soon you will crave your bike.....it is habit forming..... BG...I hope you feel better soon:( TX hope your ride was good this weekend.... and hello to all!

you know everyone.....if you have ever in your life witnessed someone being thrown over there handelbars, or a car hitting a bike, you would not care how silly you look wearing a helmet. It may not be the law in Indiana, but it should be The bikes are wonderful, and allot of the people where my mom lives uses them allot to just pedal around the apartment complex. I used a hybrid bike and a single speed cruiser bike when I first started..... Hang in there...you will love it once you get on

33 days until my 1 year mark
hoosierpoms commented on hoosierpoms's blog entry in Learning a new way to Live in Indiana
I am 33 days away from hitting the one year mark from my surgery. It is truly amazing to me how I have gone from someone who is not very active to someone who has a drive to climb hills now. Last year when we started riding, the last thing I ever thought i would do was tackle the huge hills at the lake. But....lol and behold.....I did. I climbed them and was at the top and happy as could be. I am very excited for the new outlook, the new clothes, the confidence I have once again and the way I feel. I feel truly blessed each and every day to be able to get up without pain, and enjoy each an every day to the fullest. My surgery has taught be allot. Although, habits are still hard to break, and at times the old me gets back in my life and I get lazy. But......I am bound and determined to continue to move forward. This time last year I was in a size 30/32 pant and a pair of jeans was unheard of to get on my body. This spring, I am wearing a size 18 jean capri, and some of my pants depending on who makes them are bigger....but for the most part, I feel like woohoooo!!!!! Well, that is all for the day. :rolleyes2: -

Hello everyone Well, B I am glad you are better tonight and I hope you will be on your way home soon. J....wow!!!! That is a awesome ride you got in. How are you liking your pedals??? I am really liking them lately, and am defiantly noticing why I have them. John and I went out for a quick ride tonight. Of course we live by hills at the lake, but we have a good route that we can have a mix of flats and hills. Some of these hills are something that I swore I had no need to ride, nor desire to ride last year. This year started with riding to the start of the hill, stopping looking up and going WTF???? BUT!!!!!! Last weekend, I started and went as far as i could, got off the bike, rested and got my butt back on. TODAY!!!!! RODE ALL THE HILLS, WITHOUT STOPPING, AND LIVED TO TELL ABOUT IT!!!!! LOL We even increased our Average from last weekend doing the same route....and I am happy to say, John and I' was the same. Love the granny gear, now that I know when to use it and when not to...LOL....and I love my pedals.....they make a world of diffrence. I am ready for the covered bridge ride next weekend....it should be awesome. Ok, I am done babbling

hello guys!!! Congrats on your walk today!! what an amazing thing you did, and now you have something to train for for later this year......great goals!!!! We went out today for a wonderful HILL ride....nothing my DH does isnt. But...we took his old bike for my 17 year old so she could ride....and it has chain and gearing issues....not something she wanted to deal with. So, we cut it out early. We are riding, MYself an DH tommorow, hoping for a longer ride. It is wonderful out. We are riding in the PArke county covered bridge ride next weekend....I am hyped. We are camping on friday and we will be there all weekend..... Out to eat now, see you later
