goodness....Hello to all the new and old faces here on the thread!!!! Hello to NOHVK!!! I started with a comfort bike, old type breaks...it did me just fine.....but than I got the bug...... I know that as long as you are out there pedaling you are burning calories and becoming a healthier person. Pooo on those who critize...and there are SOOOOO MANY!!!!!

d!!! I have the 2100. I have had some issues with my fingers and numbness, we are adjusting my handelbars and planning to get a ride in tonight to see if that helps. I also bought a new speialzed seat, new specialzed shoes, and gloves last nite.....The shoes are really nice and comfy! My first pair were too narrow. You are amazing to be able to accomplish all that you have. Do you have pictures of the top of the mountain????

    comfy bike????

HI They make allot of different seats out there that will accomadate your tush! I started out on a Trek Hybrid bike...it came with a seat that I just hated. So he put me in a SERFAS gel seat. The good thing about these is that it has a money back guarantee if you dont like it. I have been told, and am finding out to be the case, that the wider seats in the rear are not always the most comfy. How much are you wanting to spend on a bike or do you have one? I would highly recommend getting into a local bike shop and telling him what you are wanting to do, and let them fit you. FIT makes all the difference in a good ride. You may be surprised at the cost as well. For example a comfort hybrid from Target runs around $200. My Trek hybrid I bought was $380. Now you may think that is $180 more, well yes....but the advantage I got was a custom fit. They fit me to the bike that worked for my body height, etc..... Giant also offers a nice entry level hybrid as well..... Seats....even the most season riders will tell you, takes time to get use to them and most have gone through several before they find the right one. Best of luck and if you need anything else just email. Traci

welcome tracymom.... I am so excited for you and I love the specialized bikes as well as there gloves(which I am getting ready to buy) I actually almost bought a specialized but ended up with my current bike.....LOL.....things can easily change though!!!! Anyway....allot of people use mirrors on either there bikes or there helmets.....I dont yet...I did on my hybrid....but have not got one yet for the roadie. I just try and make sure I am not NOT paying attention and stay close to the right side as much as I can. I am still nervous about being in traffic too, so hopefully we can get some other input.... Best of luck........and please join in as much as you can..... Traci (HP)
  8. we sure do miss you......I hope you are doing ok.....

  9. welcome to the Lapband site. My name is Traci and I live near French Lick. I had my surgery in 2007 (May) and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I had researched both procedures and with a sister having the other, I knew it was not for me. You may not loose your weight as fast, but you will be doing it a healthy rate, which will allow your body to get use to the change and hopefully will not make allot of "baggage" hanging....I would love to say that that isnt a problem, but I started at 335, and my stomach is still a huge issue for me as far as hanging. Allot of people end up having plastic surgery after they are done loosing there weight, and it is a personal choice if you do or dont. Please feel free to email me anytime you would like to talk. Traci

I have always thought that coming out that way for a trip would be awesome...... We are planning on some new roads this weekend.....I think it is funny how we are looking for roads to ride on now....who ever guessed.... When was your surgery?

OMG..CHECK THIS ONE OUT!!!!! The last bike I owned (20 years ago) was the classic 10speed, skinny tire, low-handlebar model. I hated that bike. Hunching over the handlebars killed my back. I need a more upright style of bike with some cush for my tush! My only problem now is which one to choose. What is everyone else riding out there? __________________

D...CHECK OUT THIS POST FROM 5-22-07 Yes, DH and DD and I bought new bikes...not the expensive kind just Schwinns from KMart, and we are riding on average 5 miles a night..sometimes more sometimes less. I am so happpy with myself after I am done. There is a hill by my house that I had to walk up when I first started, but now I can bike all the way up it. I love it!!!I almost cried when I did that. Today I rode to video store instead of driving...a 4 mile trip. I love that I can ride to stores and get small things and not waste gas. Deanna

    Riding my bike to work

brandy.... I wish I did. Do you use a cycle computer for your bike? I have a cateye wireless, but it does not do calories, but the higher priced ones do. Where abouts are you from??? I am from Indiana. I started out last year only being able to do about 3-5 miles a night. We have been able to add more in, but my average stays between 11-14mph. SOmetimes higher sometimes not. Depends on where we ride. Good luck trying to find what you are searching for Have you tried nashbar.com or performancebike.com BTW...My name is Traci, they call me HP on the other cyclying thread

lovegrapes!!! We are all energetic and have had our ups and downs with our band, but all in all we are all here for one another and love to ride! I am challenging myself to go out of the comfort zone I enjoy so much and am riding with a group of people from work today. All very experienced riders, but we have been invited to go, and we are going. I am excited and nervous all the same....ughhhh Dropped my daughters bike off last nite at the LBS to get a complete tune up and have him check and fix the problems she is having. Hoping we get it fixed and back on the road for her.

d...there is no way I am going to be able to keep up or catch up!!!! I was planning on riding tonight after work, but my daughters bike is going to the shop instead....something is wrong with the derailler and the pedals. SO.......you are forever ahead!!!! I am sad.....But.....I will still give it my all!!!!! It may be....I wonder if it is the 2008 model of it??? I looked at one and test rode a mens and the womens version of it is cremsicle...so...that was one I test rode....... Are you for sure getting it????????
