About Me
I come from a family where we all face obesity and the tremendous like of food. I had an aunt that was over 700 pounds when she died at age 72, my mother is over 270, my oldest son is 274 (5'7") my sis is 4'10" and is over 250 so as I turned 61 years of age, was missing work, had aches and pains and couldn't walk far enough for my dog to find relief and missing time playing with my grandchildren and greatgrand-children, I found a wonderful Doctor in San Antonio that listened to my years of yo yo dieting, chronic anemia, taking 55 pills in the morning and 35 at night, increasing doses of insulin and just not have any quality of life to enjoy that on 12/15/2010 at 11:30AM I had my surgery. First off..even though you may tell the medical staff no IV's in hands or wrist as they will just inflitrate..they don't listen and it does inflitrate..then at 4AM after surgery as you are making your 4th lap around the nurses station and you say..should I have all this bloating??? and they call the MD so many times during the night that finally he asks "Does she have her binder on" that someone comes in to check and NOPE..no binder...and a binder was the best non-medicinal pain control once applied. My sister stayed with me through the whole process and one of the wonderful Nurses that I work with sat with her during my surgery as support for her..now that is true friendship. So sis was my watcher and I know she said a prayer or two but darn if she didn't have me up and walking and getting functions done that needed to be so I could go home the next day 12/16/10. I did a lot of research and praying before making this decision and my only suggestion is to do what you can when you are younger because it gets tougher to bounce back quicker when you get older.
