    Who has actually reached goal?

Y'all are lucky. I am 2.5 years post op. Started at 302. The lowest u ever got was 189. Im at 200 now. Metabolic adaptation is no fun. Being at that low of calories for so long, your body adapts. Then, after about a year and a half, two years, you slowly start gaining. Now, the only way I can lose is with a lot of exercise and healthy clean eating at about 1600 calories. Have to eat often and a lot. Don't regret surgery as I did lose 100 pounds, but still need to lose another 40, and I lost a LOT of muscle.

    Waking Up Startled

YEP! And I believe it's the pain meds... Mine actually started in the hospital. Sometimes they would jolt me so much it would hurt my incisions. It DOES go away. I'm a week post op and it's gone.
  3. This is perfectly normal. My description of drinking for the first few days post op was, "sip-burp-sip-pain-sip-eep-sip-pain-sip-burp" Now I can gulp with no issues... a week post op (not saying you should, but I accidently did and it didn't hurt... I'm actually glad I can otherwise there'd be NO way I could get my liquids in)

    I am Sleeved :-)

Thank you! That's my sleevie's name I am a week out and am still sipping Soups but my doctor told me to start mushies today. I realize each doctor is different and it does scare me.. but I did try the refried Beans and had no issues. I was able to eat 1/4 c. of them without issue or pain. I just wonder why so many doctors are different? Why do some keep their patients on strict liquids for 4 weeks?! My stage right now is stage IV and I'm able to have ground meats with mayo, mashed things, soups, beans, etc. Any chance that doing so a week out will cause harm??
  5. My surgery was a week ago today 1/6/11 and went very well. I only had a couple little set backs, A) I was allergic to Morphine and had no idea so there was an added day of Benadryl and getting the Morphine out of my system - and B: I had a little bout of dehydration the third day and had to stay another day. I was released Monday and have done very well at home. Each day gets easier and I think day 6 is the "magic day" where everything comes back together, no pain, etc. Today is day 7 and I have lost 12 pounds! YAY!
  6. Starting to get nervous. Less than 48 hours to surgery.

    Any January Sleevers?

January 6th here. For those of you just starting our first classes and dr. appointments don't get your hopes up that you'll be having surgery in January... it's a process. A long process. A reputable surgeon will likely take 3-6 months of pre-op classes/appointments/weigh ins/etc. etc. etc. "hoops" and you still have insurance to deal with. Just not wanting to see any newbies after their first appointments get their hopes up too soon.
