    Getting Sleeved Feb 8th 2011

So finally after months of waiting, im finally getting my sleeve. I'm soo excited yet a little scared. Saw my "shrink" yesterday and she said its completely normal to feel this way. I think what is making me nervous the most is this is my FIRST surgery ever. I'm also nervous about giving myself a shot of heparin, I'm terribly affraid of needles. I think my mother will have to do that for me. So feb 8th is the day. I'll be flying from Hilo, Hi to San Francisco, Ca for the surgery. I'm glad all the waiting is over, ill keep blogging thru this journey.

Congrats on the surgery date! When considering WLS, i was afraid that my family would not be supportive. I was plesently surprised when I got the opposite reaction. In fact my mother is comming with me when I have my surgery. Congrats again, Best wishes
  3. The days are counting down, only a week from tomorrow and I'll be flying to start my journey. This is really happening. Smiles all around. :)

  4. I'm getting ready to get sleeved on Feb 8th. My surgeon is Dr. Cirangle in San Francisco. According to his website lapsf.com he pioneered the sleeve in the us. I'm flying from Hilo, Hawaii to have him as my surgeon. Kimi

Just to see if anybody knows?

i think it depends on the insurance, i was approved in a week and a half, after I had a psych eval, and nutrition eval. I would call your insurance companys and ask what procedures they cover, and how long it would take to get approved. I also called them at least once a week when new paperwork was sent in. sometimes you need to be your own advocate. I was. Hope all goes well.
  7. Still waiting for my date, im getting a little impatient. But I know, when I'm supposed to have the surgery I will.

  8. Aloha All, Hi I'm Kimberly, I live in Volcano, Hawaii. I started my WLS journey in August of 2010. I originally wanted to have the Lap Band, fearing the extremeness(is that a word) of the gastric bypass. Even at my age (36) I asked my mom for her opinion. She said go with the Band. I attended my first informational seminar with Dr Cirangle, and for the first time I heard about the VSG. After my initial consult, I had to go thru the insurance and do the Psych eval, and diet and nutritional eval. Boy was that a chore, I thought i was going insane just trying to get an appointment with a therapist, and then the 4 hour appointment, never wanna do that again. So finally I got approved for the VSG then to my slight dissappointment my surgen is not a provider with my medical, so i would have to get a loan to pay the $9800 up front. Another difficult task, needless to say God has a plan for me and this surgery. Everything is finally looking up, and i hope to have a date sometime next week. I'm planning for early February.
  9. trying to add a pic to my profile, its not working...???still waiting for my surgery date...

  10. Actually Myrori, its a really long and drawn out story, but here goes. I applied for a surgery loan for the 9800 and was turned down only because i'm one of those people who likes to pay cash and not credit card. So the credit cards i do have, i got them only 2 years ago, and they want at least 3 yrs. So I called my Ins company and told my sad story and asked if they would reconsider my request for a LOA (letter of agreement) for payment to the surgen. They agreed. Then they communicated with my surgeon, they talked back and forth on a price, and then my surgeon decided to become a provieder with my ins. So needless to say I was one happy girl on Wed. They have signed the contract and i should get my surgery date next week. (fingers crossed)
