Here's what I do on days I slip up - I'm also dieting pre-op to try and lose some weight and build some momentum going into this... I also just want to be prepared - yesterday I just had to have mexican, so I did two things - I ordered less than I normally get, and I used it as an 'opportunity' to practice eating slower, and set my fork down, and chew my food better.. Ya know what though? Today was awesome hit all my goals and then some was 200 under goal for calories 60 grams of Protein, lots of Water and a really good workout. Don't be afraid to reward yourself one meal - but the next day kick it into high gear to make up for that meal. Also, don't beat yourself up for wanting a treat here and there especially while you're still producing ghrelin --- post op this whole dieting thing is gonna be easier I hope... maybe I'm wrong but I know I'll be forced to do it by the size of my stomach. Anyhow goodluck w/ your surgery and have fun in Vegas!

That is so AWESOME, I am so happy for you... At the same time -- I gotta warn you now that it's a go, comes the anxiety of 'omg' what am I getting myself into lol.. but it's all good. hehe. I'm getting so nervous of the surgery, the endoscopy, catheters, injections, will my liver be small enough.. I guess what I'm saying is now you're gonna start obsessing about the surgery day n night until you get it. lol So, uh welcome to my/our world! But seriously, I really am thrilled for you, it's gonna be amazing to watch your journey, I know you can do this and be successful - just as I know that come July 2nd I'm gonna Rock the Sleeve.

Wow Best Protein Concoction Ever
Patrick Curl replied to Patrick Curl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
It says on the package 4g fiber, 2g sugar, and 8g sugar alcohol which doesn't count as a sugar. 14 total grams carbs. It is the sugar free, not fat-free I know the fat free has sugar. But I can see the home made with skim milk working better but the other I think will work when youre in a pinch for time, not to mention we were out of milk and I can't do protein mixed with water. -
Yeah welcome to the group. Also the sleeve us safer in terms of absorption of Vitamins, minerals, and I'm sure it can really mess up dosing of prescriptions.. It could get complicated as you age and require more meds.. Plus the bypass is known to stretch and the sleeve does not. And you won't have to permanently give up favorite foods to dumping syndrome, just eat them in moderation and smaller portion sizes. There are a lot of things that imo make the sleeve the superior option. Good luck in your journey!

Arwen, I'm sorry that things are rough, and that you have no support at home, you have tons of support here. We're pushing for you, and when you come out of this you are going to be walking on cloud 9, with or without your family by your side. You'll at least look and feel better about yourself, and you will have a lot more energy from losing the weight. Stay with it and don't give up.

Yeah - if anyone has any cool web/mobile app ideas for Sleevers let me know - I think it would be cool if this site had a list of all members their starting weight/surgery weight/surgery date/current weight/link to all their photos - it would be cool to be able to sort them by how much they lost - I know for me it would be cool to talk to some of the people who weighed over 400 or 500 and had the sleeve. -

Yeah - now we will all be able to practice some Kama sutra weird stuff lol Well damn.. I was just about to change my signature... and add to my motivators "to add 13" to my willy" lol... My wife was a bit scared, she said "uh, hell no. That just won't work.." lol -

My Idea To Get In Some Extra Exercise.
Patrick Curl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, My exercise doc, wanted me to 'take extra opportunities to walk' - well walking around the block I can make it like 75% then I get an oh SH*T moment and scan for a seat somewhere or try running cause my back just feels like it is gonna give out... Well today, I've started a new habit. EVERY time I take a trip to the bathroom I am going to go on a walk before (or after depending on severity of my bladder). The bathroom here at work is like through a hallway, through the kitchen and around the corner. So instead I'm gonna go out the backdoor, do a lap around our parking lot(small lot - 15 cars maybe), in the back door, then to the bathroom. Since starting my pre-op diet I am using the bathroom quite a bit more - like once every 2 hours at least - so that's 4 x times per day that I get to walk and burn some calories. I also am trying to walk when I get home - or at least do Kinect Kickboxing. I really feel exercise is one of the most important parts of this journey, and something I'm not gonna neglect. -
How Not To Scarf...?
Patrick Curl replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow thanks for all the comments- Discordya I never thought to meditate w/ my dinner.. how much thinner would I be if I'd said a quick prayer before each meal 'god, please don't let this stick to places I don't want it to' lol.. But seriously - we did a lot of meditation type stuff when I was in Massage School 10 years ago(not my profession, changed fields completely but still love bodywork - just I love programming/computers/marketing/social media a lot more..) I am definitely gonna give that a try, and I also like the suggestion of using baby-size utensils, though I think I'll look like a fool if I went into a steakhouse, bought a manly steak (pre-op of course) and pulled out my tiny pink fork lol... I could imagine the stares I'd get... would make for a funny youtube video though lmao. Also think I'll give some thought to setting my fork down between bites... I just sometimes mistake food for oxygen and start inhaling it. - Thanks for all your advice - really helped me see ways I could tackle this. I really want to be prepared going into surgery, I'm sure some people just go and have it without doing their due dilligence then wake up and are like woah what did I do.. I hate it..or they make themselves sick because they're eating wrong... As a control freak, I gotta know every single thing - I'm like totally obsessing over this. -
My costs are 2400 - surgeon, 1400 - anesthesiologist - 17000 hospital.. I offered to let them use my kitchen table and setup a mobile OR lol ... but yeah that was a no-go. Could've saved 17 grand.

Terrified Of Anaesthesia!
Patrick Curl replied to lunabella007's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well he was originally going to do the filter, and then told me that I didn't have to do that.. kinda worried cause I definitely don't want a clot that's the very last thing I want out of this... is my surgeon taking a shortcut by not doing a filter? Should I request he do that instead of lovenox? What is in my best interest? -

My First Week On Self-Imposed Liquid Protein Diet. (Start: 667, Current: 557)
Patrick Curl replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well - i got more to lose than about 80% of y'all I would imagine - so I want to beef things up, plus I'm in extremely good condition all things considered - but still health is a ticking time-bomb that could turn sour anyday. But I'm going to one day make the 400 pound club(losing 400, not weighing)..
