NERVOUS!!! NERVOUS!!! NERVOUS!!!
Disney replied to sunnyd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was just like you one week ago today, so nervous. It is always scary to have surgery, but as Foxbins said, the risks are very small. You will do great. You are on your way!!! BTW, what is a neck filter? -
NEED SOME HELP ASAP!!!!
Disney replied to jessicaamere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved the same day as you and I have not had the nausea issues or the spitting thing, but I absolutely cannot drink anything cold. It sends my stomach into a spasm like crazy. I don't know if that might be what's causing your problem or not. I can eat popsicles, but they are not as cold by the time I swallow if that makes sense! I don't bite and chew them, just let them melt in my mouth. Sounds like it might just be dehydration. Just try to drink as much as you can get in. It is hard for me, I have to remind myself to drink. I will be so glad when things get easier to go down. -
4 days post op and teeth are turning grey and translucent
Disney replied to jdel408's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The bad thing is, if she is only 4 days post op, most doctors have you on Clear Liquids for at least 10 days, so no milk products. -
Why Mexico?
Disney replied to notsochubbybritneyspears's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got back from Mexicali after having my surgery March 9th with Dr. Aceves, and all I can say is this: I have NEVER had nurses be so efficient and friendly in the States. I have NEVER had not one but TWO Dr's be so caring and attentive and sincerely concerned for my well-being in the States. I have NEVER been in a hospital that was so immaculate and CONSTANTLY being cleaned in the States. I have NEVER felt more at ease and attended to in any hospital in the States. Now, you can say 'well, you've never been here, or you've never been there then'. I can only speak from my own experience. I have had kind dr's before, but these went above and beyond and unless you have been there, you cannot speak of any experience there. So all the bad-mouthing about Mexican Dr's is complete heresay unless you had surgery there yourself. And for the above comment, "down there" is a pretty big place. Try not to generalize. And I was safe. -
Not tomorrow, but Wednesday for me! Good luck to you and check in when you can and I will do the same. I hope we both have an easy week, along with all the others getting sleeved this week!

I had to rely on my taxes to help pay for my upcoming surgery, so I definitely feel for you. I hope everything works out

unbelievable doctor visit
Disney replied to vickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That just makes me sick! Some drs' have such a God complex. What they fail to realize is the surgeons we use in Mexico probably have TRIPLE the experience, not to mention bed side manner as some of these quacks in the states. Of course there are great drs here in the states, too. I am not arguing that fact. Sorry you had to be treated like a second class citizen just because of their ignorance of 1) Mexican surgeons and 2) VSG in general. Clearly she does NOT know what she is talking about, which is why I would not be seen in that office again. Just wondering, what is "dokie up" ? -

Wow! What a great accomplishment! You deserve to be happy! I love the beautiful day dance, too. -
Please post your experience with the drain incision with Dr. Aceves. Some patients say they got a couple stitches and others say it is left open to close on it's own. Just curious what your experience was...THANKS!!!

Drain incision with Dr. Aceves
Disney replied to Disney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the replies!! I just remember reading a story by "KRIS" on Janurary 10th about her surgery with Dr. Aceves and it was long and detailed ( I just love those) and she mentioned that one of the nurses took the drain out and put a couple of stitches in to seal the drain port and that it hurt and they gave her a sublingual pain pill. That just stuck out in my mind. I didn't even think nurses (i'm a nurse, too) could 'stitch' anyone. Anyway, I guess it doesn't matter, just curious about how long till it closes, and if there might be stitches to be removed later. Thanks again! -
