Hey, Bug, Where are you doing the 5K? I'm doing the Westerville one...Dress as your fav dead celebrity. The first 5K I did was less than 4 months after surgery. Jogged the first 2 miles then walked the 3rd. This one I just hope to be able to jog it all. If not, I just want to get under my last time. I don't think jogging is my thing but hey....it's a goal! Good luck. Oh yeah, I was on week 7 of C25K when I jogged/walked my first 5K so just get out there and do your best and have fun!

Interesting Conversation with a Personal Trainer
Cheryl replied to Amanda131's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, Amanda, I know that it has been a long time since you posted it but I just found it. I was wondering if you have been able to do the Bod Pod. It is so much more accurate than most other tests to figure out what you should way. I'm 5'8" and only have to get to 185 lbs to be at 25% body fat. Once I get to that weight (around another 20lbs) I'll redo the BodPod and see how I feel/look. These last 20lbs have been a struggle but I know I need to clean up my diet. Good luck. BTW, your trainer may not be far off if you are muscular. -
Things I can't wait to do!
Cheryl replied to Fusilli66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Go Lorip! You will run a k5 some day. When you are comfortable walking fast, try the couch to 5k. It's awesome program. I always hating jogging and thought it was for other people but I did my first 5K on July 4th, less than 4 months after surgery. I ran the first 2 miles then walked/jogged the last one. There is a 5k (dress as your fav dead celebrity) on Oct 28th and I want to be able to jog the whole thing. Good luck too you! -

So.... I am glad that you did the Bod Pod and posted your results. I had been wondering what my body comp was since I always knew I was muscular and didn't think I lost any lean body mass since surgery. My BMI right now is about 32. So for a "healthy weight" according to a BMI of 25 I should weigh about 163 lbs. I don't see that happening in this lifetime because I love to eat (just in smaller portions.) I had been waiting to use the BodPod until I was some what close to my goal. Results: (I am fairly pleased) Fat : 34% 71 lbs Lean: 66% 138 lbs Total 100% 209 lbs BTW, I am about 5' 7.5". My goal is 185 lbs at 20% body fat. It calculted that my resting metabolic rate is 1750 (so that means I am eating way too much because I haven't been losing any weight in the past couple of months.) It blows my mind that two people can have completely different results depending upon their build. I am wearing size 16 pants and never went below 14 even when I was in shape. Can someone suck the fat out of my a$$ and put it back into my deflated skin sacks that used to be my boobs? Anyway, I want to get down to 185-190 lbs then get retested to make sure I haven't lost any lean mass. Just goes to show you that BMI can be verryyy deceiving. quote name='LilMissDiva' timestamp='1313785489' post='196731'] So I FINALLY made my way to the Bod Pod. Work has settled down and after working nearly an entire month on my Fridays off I got one to myself. Yahhh!!! Anyway, I met some amazing outstanding folks at the Vacaville Golds Gym. They made me feel so welcomed, and geesh if I lived there that would definitely be my workout spot. More on that later, here are my results: Fat: 35.3% 64.0 Lbs. Lean: 64.7% 117.3 Lbs. Total: 100% 181.3 Lbs. (I lost some weight yay!!)

I DID IT! Smashed c25k to its ass! Yesterday was week 6 Day 3 (the second long run.) The plan was to walk 5 min then jog 25. Here is what I did: Walked 5 at 3.8-4.0 mph then JOGGED 35 MIN STRAIGHT! I felt pretty good so I had kept jogging to finish out the 5k on the treadmill. The first 2 miles were in 27 min. 5k in 40:15 including the walk in the begginning. WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think this officially makes me a jogger! I am jogging/walking a 5k on 4th of July with my husband and sister. I need to start jogging outside to get used to it.
-
Wish me luck! Tomorrow will be C25K, Week 6, Day 3 which is 5 min walk then 25 jog. I didn't have problem with the 20 min jog and that surprised the heck out of me. Today I did the jog10/walk3/jog 10 and I struggled because I worked night shift, had 4 hour nap, then jogged without eating. Hmm...not doing that again. GOOD LUCK TO ME! This will be a big victory for me WHEN I do it tomorrow (not if.)

Thanks, Marymoon, I also called a friend of mine who is on week3 and she was thrilled for me. I am proud. Hard to think that the next couple of weeks before the 4th of July will allow me to jog that much further so we shall see. The program has taken me to another level since I think I was stuck in a rut with my same routine. I also added the rowing machine and I love the upper body strength that brings. Go C25K'ers!

LOL. There is nothing like the cure for constipation than vigorous exercise. Haven't tried Zumba and don't even know quite what it is so I will have to check it out. I'm not typically one to do group exercise because I get in a "zone" and lose myself anyway. Keep shaking stuff loose.

Sorry that you have to go through this. I am anxious to hear what your WLS has to say. BTW, I love your pic! I don't remember what it was before but I know it wasn't this one. Keep up the cycling! Good luck.

Hi, All, I have been doing the C25K for awhile now and just completed Weed 5, Day 3. I thought I wasn't going to make it since they jump you from walk/run to 20 min jog in a row. Well, Yours Truly jogged 1.7 miles in a row without stopping. Woohoo. Over 21 minutes. I didn't repeat any of the weeks. Whoever said, "Go and get a good pair of running shoes" is correct. I have been going to Road Runner Sports for mine for the past 2 yrs since I had plantar fasciitis. Trust me, you don't want it. You don't have to spend $100+ on shoes. I usually buy a pair for around $70-75...but they are always the kind that complement my feet. That is why i go to a sports shoe shop. It doesn't matter how fast you jog/run as long as you continue doing it. Consistancy is the key. I have been able to slowing increase my speed. When I got my sleeve 3 months ago, I was walking 3.3 mph. Now I can walk 4.0 for an extended time. Jog 4.7-5.0 mph. When I hit the gym, I ALWAYS make sure I eat healthy carbs a couple of hours before I go. oatmeal with fruit or Kashi Go Lean. Carbs are not your enemy. Without them, I am much more tired and don't have a good workout. I am not a thin chick but I AM DOING IT. My goal is to walk/jog a 5k for the 4th of July in as short of a time period as I can. Oh, I also don't hurt when I am done jogging and I have had ACL reconstruction on my knee. Keep going! You can do it!

Woohoooo! I just jogged 21 min staight! 1.7 miles without stopping!!! Week 5 Day 3 completed of C25K! Along with that, I did 30 min on eliptical and 10 min on rowing machine. Starting to write everything I eat down again because I'm not losing any weight...and clothes aren't getting much looser so accountability to me it must be.

I am hoping halter boobs will be in style! For the first time ever I will hop on the bandwagon on be one of the firsts to try the new fashion! Going from 42G/H to 38 F and still have another 50 lbs to lose......what will my skin-puddles-in-a-bra look like? Nips already aim to Brazil so what is left?
-
Yeah for me! I just did a great workout. Week 5 of c25k is a challenge but I met it. 30 min elliptical; 32 min treadmill: week 5 day 2 of C25k which is 5 min walk; 8min jog, then 5 min walk, 8 min jog, then I walked the rest. Was able to get 2 miles done in 27 1/4 min. I jogged 0.7 miles x 2. 10 min on rowing machine for 2000m. Don't know when I can do Day 3 of c25k since it is 20 min straight of jogging. I work Fri night so Sat morning is definately out.... Keep up the good work everyone. Diva, glad your feeling better. I wish sweets gave me more problems. I tested it and I could eat more than I care or wish to so I need to be careful of old habits.
-
Good morning. You may have posted it elsewhere but this computer is a little messed up so I can't see them....what kind of foods are messing you up? I am only 3 months out and I can eat just about anything within reason. Salmon gave me a bit of problem but that is it, as long as I chew well. Fortunately/unfortunately I tolerated just about anything early and never had a problem with food.

OK.....Where did everyone go??? I guess I have to be accountable to myself first. I completed Week4 of C25K. I was away from home to my nephew's Court of Honor for Eagle Scouts (woohoo) and didn't get my "Day 3" in last week so I completed week 4 today. Week 5 brings 3 sets of 5 min jogs which I don't think will be a problem because today's jog/walk was not that difficult for me. It might have been all those sweets at the party that bumped up my glycogen stores in my liver. Ok, so it didn't make that much of a difference but that was my way of justifying all the crap I ate this weekend. Didn't lose any weight this past week b/c junky eating this weekend but is back to chicken, cottage cheese, and so forth this week.
