hi all, I am now 6 months post op and have been stuck at the same weight now for about a month, i have had a couple of pounds loss then its gone back on, i am getting a little desperate here now , things have been going so well up to this point, i never had any complications after the surgery, can get plenty of liquids down and hardly any trouble eating, it has been really great, i have lost about 80lbs so far, which i feel so pleased about, i know i was going to hit a stall at some point but next week i am going to the dietician and i feel that she will be really disappointed that i haven't lost much since i last saw her, i don't really know what to do, should i cancel my appoint and hope that i have lost some weight by the time i get another appointment or should i just go and accept this is all i have been able to so far. thanks for listening viv

Hiya all, sorry i have not been around lately, been moving home and various other things, just thought i would give you an update, my surgery was 1st of Feb 2011, and i have now lost the grand total of 6 stone, (about 80lbs), as you can imagine i am really pleased, at first i was pretty doubtful that the surgery would work, after all when has anything 'really' worked?? but i can honestly say i am so pleased with the results so far, i have another stone to lose until i reach my first goal, but then another 4-5 stone to go after that to reach my final goal, i have found that i can eat most things, apart from lettuce, never ever eating that again!! Pizza is not good for me either, pasta is ok but i get full very quickly, i've had only a few bad moments, mainly when i have tried to eat more than my stomache will allow, or drinking and eating at the same time, anyway hope everyone is doing great viv

hi all, hope everyone is doing ok, i haven't been on for a few days, since my "op" ha ha, i have been feeling pretty sorry for myself, and not feeling like talking much but yesterday i decided enough was enough, anyway i phoned the hospital to find out if i had a new date for the surgery and my notes had just arrived with the secretary, and she said that they still have to check with the surgeon to see "which" op i am having (after i had been told it was the sleeve then booked for the band) well it looks like it will be in january at the earliest or february at the latest, i am not holding my breath though, we shall just have to see what happens i guess, anyway i am going to and enjoy the next month and try not to think too much about it, then as soon as xmas is over thaen i will begin yet again. take care, VIv

Hi all, thanks for all your messages and support, it really meant a lot to me, thank you so much!! I am feeling better now that i have had a good think about it, im still dissappointed but not devestated now, i will hang in there, my time will come, just need to be patient a little longer that's all. my pre-op was only for a week but all i could have was low fat youghurt, which i used to really like, but at this moment if i see another, i won't be responsible for my actions, ha ha! as for the Dr, he thinks there was a miscommunication between my Dr and her secretary, because originally i was having the band, but when i went to the consutant she recommended the sleeve, so i guess there was a mix up in the notes, anyway as you said i could have gone through with the op without realising and been banded. anyway thank you for listening, viv

Hi all viv here. just checking in, supposed to have sleeved done today, but got cancelled, well actually, not exactly, went into hospital yesterday, got all prepped up, had to have iv put in ready for my insulin drip, to prepare for the op today, Dr comes to see me, starts talking about the op, i realise he's talking about doing a band, i tell him im here for the sleeve, he goes and check the notes, realise that a mistake has been made and that he cant do a sleeve as he doesnt do that op, so he sends me home to wait for new appointment!!! really fed-up about this now, second time now the op not done, begining to feel that its not going to happen now, i just feel that i have gone and got all prepared and worked up for nothing right now, my family are saying i am so calm but i feel like screaming and crying, i know this won't help things though, so im just carrying on as normal, its hard though, my emotions are really all over the place right now. sorry to be so miserable in this post but it been a tough few hours, any way hope everyone is ok viv

Hi all, yep only 2 days to go!! i am getting really excited now, bags packed, unpacked, repacked, cleaned the house from top to bottom, did my washing, emptied the freezer, lol, yes you guessed it anything to keep busy, and my mind occupied. i have admit that i never thought this would really happen, you know you start the weight loss surgery process, and have all this wonderful thoughts about how great it will be, but , in my case, i had this doubt that anything like this could happen, especially here in the uk. in Wales last year the NHS only performed 4 procedures for the country!! so to finally be at this stage is fantastic, i am so happy right now:rolleyes:

Good luck, hope all goes well for you, having mine done on thursday

Hi Angela, thanks for your post, my pre-op diet is only for one week, thank goodness, today was really bad, i am diabetic and started to go into a hypo, so i had to phone my doctor and ask for advice, she told me that as my blood sugar was so low, i had to eat something, aaaagh! so i had to have real food, instead of just the youghurt that i am only supposed to eat, i am praying that it wont cause problems for the surgery, oh well 6 days to go so hopefully if i get right back on the diet tomorrow everything will be ok. as for my prepartion, well i was supposed to have the op 3 months ago when i was having my gallbladder out, but some piece of equipment broke just before surgery, i was able to have the gallbladder removed but not the sleeve, so i think since then i have become more prepared and have more of an understanding of what will happen, although as the days go by i am getting more nervous, normal emotions i know, the post op preparations are going ok, reading, reading and more reading, and of course coming to this site is fantastic, if you need any help give me a shout, and i wish you all the best for your op in 3weeks time, i will let you know how things go, take care! viv xx

Hi all, been looking on the site for awhile so i thought it was time to say hi, i am pre-op sleeve, having the surgery next week on th 18th nov, been through a lot of emotions, but finaly feeling great about the surgery and am really excited, i am having it done on the NHS here in the UK, it has taken me 6 years to get to this point, and i must admit there were times when i nearly gave up, but i am so glad that i stuck it out, i am on the pre-op diet now and its going ok, not as hard as i thought it would be but wishing i could find some variety, i can only have low fat yoghurts, tea, fromage frais, and juice. anyway just wanted to say hi to everyone
