I had my lap band put on in March 2007.  Unfortunately, I had lots of problems with my band.  I would get too tight, then too loose, and could never find that "sweet spot".  I had massive amounts of acid reflux and could not sleep flat on my back for over 4 years.  It was so bad that acid would even come out my nose!  Although I was able to lose 100 pounds with my band it was not without a tremendous struggle.  I never did get the hang of chewing my food into pulp and would have sliming/vomiting episodes with most meals.  Then I ended up getting food poisoning and the pressure from needing to vomit but the material being blocked under the band ended up causing a band slippage.  I had an immediate unfill in Sept 2011 and in March 2014 had the band removed.  From the time of the unfill my weight began to creep back up by 50 pounds and after the band was removed for good I packed on another 50 pounds resulting in putting back on all the weight that I lost with my band.  Sigh. 

In March 2015 my husband and I decided to both move forward with getting the sleeve surgery.  Our surgery date was June 1, 2015.  I lost 16 pounds prior to surgery and have lost pounds since surgery.  So far the sleeve has been completely different then the band.  I have had no sliming/vomiting episodes, no reflux, and when I eat I just feel full not like I am choking (like with the band).  I have lots of hope for my future which I haven't had in a long time.
