Just Banded on March 29, 2005
tobeaskinnychic replied to New Life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats New Life. I, too, was banded on March 29th. My issues are just like yours. Abd. gas, bloating, and I am having pain with 1 of my incisions, which also is the port. If I just move a certain way........I could kill somebody. I have lost 5 lbs so far and I am still on liquids. I chose not to tell anyone. Due to her health reasons, I couldn't tell my mom. So, if I couldn't tell her, I wouldn't risk telling anyone else. Good luck and keep in touch! Terri -
Tanya (Gunn4ya) Welcome to Bandland
tobeaskinnychic replied to Iluvharleys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tanya, I am right there with ya! I was banded on the 3-29. :banana I am feeling pretty good and not hungry much. Still have pain in 1 incision that is really painful at times. Other than that, it went pretty easy. I have been trying to sip, sip that Water. Keep in touch, Terri -
Hard a really bad night last night!!!

Walmart and Walgreens have these things called "bed buddies" that you heat in the microwave and you can put around your neck or lay on them. (looks like a mini bean-bag with rope handles on each end). They don't cost much and my friend swears by them! -
Congrats Wade!! We will be the newbies with a band (NWAB) together! My surg date is next month and I can't wait! Keep posting! Terri

Hello everyone, After 9 months and trying to get in to 2 different docs, my surgery will be in Dallas on 3/29. I am so excited. I have belonged to this forum for several months and I can't thank all of you enough for your suggestions and support. Keep it coming. I have BC/BS and once I finally got a Dr. to send in all of my paperwork, I was approved in less than a week! Thanks to all of those who have given me tidbits, I was well prepared. Like some of you, I am going to be a closet bandster. My family just can't take the added stress right now. :banana I can't wait! TB

Surgery this Friday...very nervous!
tobeaskinnychic replied to Scotty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Scotty, I, too, am going to be a closet bandster. Only my husband and a close friend know. I even fibbed to my employer. My surgery is next month. I feel that if people know what I am doing, they may shame me for being week and not doing it on my own. If I "could" do it on my own, I wouldn't be here. However, if people see me losing weight, I can tell them I am doing the "small plate diet" eating mostly what I want, just controlling portions and wow..........I get no attitude from them. As far as my family, I feel that they will always worry and some of my family members, parents mostly, just don't need the stress and I don't need the grief. Good luck to you and may God Bless, TB -
Betty, I got the packet from Dr. Provost office and hand delivered it back next day. That was a month ago. I call them and leave messages and they don't call back. I have contacted my Ins. and they say they have received nothing from his office. I know you were going to pay upfront. I have tried 3 different Doctors in DFW and can't get anyone to submit anything to insurance........I have been trying to get this for 6 months and I am ready to go to Mexico. I'll be darned to pay these docs here cash when they won't even try the insurance. I guess my question to you is did you have trouble with Provost's office? Thanks for any help from anyone....... Terri

Betty, So glad for you! I am now trying to get in to see Dr. Provost as well. So I will try to keep in touch with you. Just as I got everything in to Dr. Richard Carter in Arlington, received letter that he is no longer accepting BC/BS. They said that my insurance co. would pay the hospital fee, just not Dr. Carter. I was told that I could pay him $6,000.00 in cash and get it done. No thanks, I would go to Mexico 1st before I give him any cash. Funny thing, insurance company can find everything I sent them, but nothing from the Docs office. Bummer. Insurance directed me to Dr. Provost and I called and they are mailing "the packet" to me. Nothing like filling out these packets over and over. Does anyone out there besides me, feel that some Doc offices really don't like to help us out. I am in the medical profession and I don't treat my patients this way. Sorry to ramble. It is so frustrating! Betty, good luck and keep posting! Terri

Marie, I have already checked with INS and they will pay for it. They just started in April of this year. They opened a claim for me already and were really nice to work with so far, but she said that ALL documentation had to be specific and gave me all of the specifics. My new PCP has documented my medifast, slimfast,phen-phen, etc. He has even typed a letter recommending the surgery. I have strong family history of heart dissease (mom had pacemaker put in her 20's) and diabetes. Other than sleep Apnea and high cholesterol, I am healthy and grateful for that, but worried that at 40, my next 40 years will not be as healthy. Terri

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and I am trying to get all my paperwork in order. I have enjoyed reading all of the fantastic information and positive comments about being banded. I attended Dr. Carter's seminar, went to the psyc, got the PCP to write letter and perform test for sleep apnea (positive result) and I have a BMI of 41. My insurance is BC/BS of MA. I have a RX for phen-phen dated 4-7-98. That is the last medical treatment for weightloss and that Doc doesn't have records any longer nor does the pharmacy. At least I have the bottle. I am trying to get someone in Carter's ofc to call me back. I am ready to look for a new doc in the DFW area. I could really use some pointers for the next steps. Terri

Called the Doctor's Office
tobeaskinnychic replied to Iluvharleys's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Betty, I wish you much luck. I am trying to get in to Dr. Carter in Arlington, TX but they never call me back, either. My research shows that patients are happy with him and I liked his personality when I attended his seminar. I have also contacted an office in Dallas. We will see. I want to get it done soon, before my insurance changes. -
Called the Doctor's Office
tobeaskinnychic replied to Iluvharleys's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello ladies, I am brand new to the sight. I am trying to use a Surgeon in Arlington and keep waiting on a call back. I even sent an email. I have been told that my insurance will cover it and have done my homework, but about ready to find a new doc in the metroplex. Betty, have you thought of going to Monterey? My husband personally knows someone who went and he is very, very happy! Terri
