  1. Who here works in law enforcement? I work for U.S. Customs. My supervisor and I are both getting the Lap Band. She can get hers paid for with her health plan. I am going to Mexico because I am not fat enough to get the band here. I need to take off at least 30-40lbs. I have high blood pressure. 140-88, today. I am getting the band to help me quit eating so much. I have been on steroids (prednisone) for 3 months due to kidney problems. I cannot stop the hunger pains. I got 30 lbs fatter due to this terrible drug. I am off of the pills and I cannot take the fat off. I getting banded as a preventative measure. Most of my family is obese. I am just fat. I want to stop the problem before it starts. Thanks Robert
  2. I ride as well. I am 45 lbs. lighter now and it feels great to ride. After I am done loosing I am going to have to respring my XR650R. It is set up for a 280 lbs. rider. Are you gonna redo your suspeinsion on that Yammie? I thought about getteing a lighter bike but I ride open desert so the XR is perfect. It feels alot faster with some of the rider weight gone. It almost feels like a MX bike with the springs I have on it now, and I dont bottom out when hitting some small jumps. I am glad to see other people who ride getting the lap band. Thanks Rob

  3. I love my lap band. I am down 50 lbs. from my all time high. I hit 245 today. My Doctor weighed me underwater a couple of years ago and told me to get to this weight. He explained that all of the BMI charts are out of date and due to me being very muscular, I will never be 180 lbs. I need to drop another 20 to get a really flat belly. So I a shooting for 225 by the middle of next month. I really havent changed my diet or quit any of my bad habits. I just do everthing with much more moderation and control. For example, I drink half as much beer as I used to. I eat half as many hamburgers as I used to and so on. Soda, candy and Donuts I quit consuming completely. I think I used to be perpetually dehydrated by drinking soda all the time. I feel 100% better. Thank you mom for buying me this lap band!!

Us 1895s get the good overtime pay. Starting in July we get the LEO retirement. You ICE guys should stop wearing those ugly floral shirts. I can spot you guys a mile away! I hear that at FLETC it is like swimming in a sea of smurfs now. I stayed in the crack houses when I was there. Gotta love the FLETC pollo.

Down 38 lbs. since Jan 31

I can tolerate anything in small amounts. I live near the border and they have salsa bars in all of the taco stands. I really do not eat bread but I can tolerate half of a egg mcmuffin. Start with very small portions. After you take a bite wait for a little while to see what happens. The first time I had some bread I ate to much and puked it up. I like shiner Bock. I can only tolerate 1 per every half hour(3 max). I usually try and have strait crown to save on calories if I wanna get a little tipsy:cursing:
  6. I tend to snack when I have nothing else to do. Try getting a hobby or clean the house and yard. I try to watch TV after I eat. I notice If I watch TV between meals I snack more. 1 small bag of cheetos will last me a couple of days. I get really sick when I drink soda now. It gives me a bad rash on my face as well. I guess I have devoloped an alergic reaction to the sweeteners. I can drink stuff with real sugar but not that corn syrup crap. I will treat myself to a Mexico soda (real sugar) somtimes.

    Low Blood sugar?

I was banded Jan 31st. I was having blood sugar problems due to taking prednisone. I was pre type 2 diabetic. Everthing was resolved after I got off the prednisone. But when I do not eat (I was not hungry for 3 days), I get dizzy. The emegency clinic I visited gave me a gluclose pill and I started feeling better. Should I let this go or should I follow up. Sombody at work said because I have lost so much weight that my body needs to adjust. I bought one of those blood sugar moniters and It usually reads between 90-100 (first thing in the morning). My guess is that should keep track of the sugar levels and if somthing changes then I should get checked out. Thanks Rob
  8. I love to adventure ride. I like going on every kinda terrain possible. I like single track and desert the best. I have a street legal Honda XR650R and a non street legal Yamaha 250. I have taken the big dirt bike on 1200 mile trips. My goal is to ride Copper Canyon, Mexico. I have lost enough weight to regain my confidence on the dirt. I can ride much longer and harder. I can now handle jumping without feeling like my knees are going to buckle. I am just over 4 weeks out of surgery and I am still taking it pretty easy. I lost 25lbs already, down 45lbs from my fattest. I need 25 more lbs to get into the normal body fat range. You guys that do not ride dirt should give it a try. It has made me a better street rider, plus it is a very good workout.

    Emotional Since Lap Band?

I have lost so much weight I go into low blood sugar very easy. You may have to check your sugar every now and then. I get (drunk!) when my blood sugar goes down. I am not a diabetic. I think some of the emotions happen because of the body changes from weight loss.
  10. People do not look very happy in their before. They smile really big for their after. I am down 21 pounds in three weeks since my banding and I smile every time I put on my belt. It is on the last hole and I will be buying a new one soon.

    Banded in Mexico?

I get all of my medical care in Mexico, since being banded. It is faster for me to walk across to Mexico for treatment than to wait in line here in America.

    EMS/Fire/Law enforcement

I also posted this in the other law enforcement thread. Hey guys! It has been three weeks since my surgery and I am down 21 pounds. I will be having to get a smaller belt soon. I am getting a coworker to make some new holes in some of my other belts. I think this surgery is the best thing I have ever bought. The money saved on food is substantial. My social life is now improving as now I can afford to go out. I am getting used to consuming less of everything. I am now satisfied with two tasty adult beverages (crown with water). I used to drink a six pack on my days off. I am also getting a lot more exercise. I really want to run again, but I have to wait another week. Another 3 weeks I can get off light duty. Thanks for the fantastic support. Robert

Anyone with a band and a Kidney transplant?

I have kidney problems (fsgs). I hope you can get the band soon. The chronic tiredness and Doctors appointments are hard on the BP. If you are lighter your health problems seem to go away.

    Law enforcement thread

It is good to see all of the LEO guys posting. The EMS/Firefighters are also welcome to post in the LEO threads. These guys are public servants as well. Around here they get shot at as much as the law dogs do(Laredo,Texas).
  16. I know us guys have our own forum. It seems that we are severely out numbered here. I was thinking that society judges women more than men and that = more motivation to get banded. I really am enjoying telling everybody about my band. Some of the guys think I am less of a man for having to resort to an operation to loose weight. I really do not care. I have been 40-50 lbs overweight for 5 years now. This band is the best thing that I have ever given myself. I am so glad to be able to loose weight. I was banded on Jan 31 and am already 12 pounds down. I was eating 4500 calories a day before. I am now doing less than 1000. Even with just the surgery fill I feel very restricted. My skin is so much better, my blood sugar is normal and I feel better. I have gone in a notch on my belt. I am at 268 and my goal is 220ish or less. Thanks for letting a few of us guys hang around, I will stay out of the female problems threads. Keep Up the Good work Ladies! Robert

    D Day + 9

The energy got better for me after the first week. In fact I walked six miles on my one week anniversary. Tuesday I am going again. I also am able to eat soft foods now and that seems to help.

Why are there so many women bandsters?

I do miss the being able to drink 20 beers with my friends. I have empathy towards the women. In college I had two female roommates. The hormone factor can get ridiculous. It was like I was one of the girls. They had me looking like one of those metrosexual guys on T.V. I started to eat chocolate and get bloated with them once a month! Then I got my own place so I could have a girlfriend. It is kinda tough keeping a girlfriend around living with two girls. I am still clean but now I wear mismatched clothes sometimes(no girlfriend at the moment). I do still cry when I watch a sad movie or T.V. show. I cannot watch animal cops. I used to be more manly but have given up on all the public farting and grunting. I do still ride dirtbikes and shoot pistols. I have to shoot pistols as I am a law enforcement officer. Robert

    EMS/Fire/Law enforcement

I started the law enforcement thread.. sorry I left the firefighter/EMT guys out. I know you guys work right alongside us Law Enforcement guys. I have lived in small towns where they have cop/EMT/volunteer firefighters all in one. Anyway I got banded on Jan 31. I am already 10 pounds down. I look forward to be a looser with you guys! Anyone here get their Lap Band in Mexico?

I went to Dr. Rodriguez. Had a pleasant experience with the Mexican medical system. The Mexican Doctors teach the American Doctors how to do this operation. I would no worry a bit.

    Band Day Tomorrow

Go for it bro!! I got mine on the Jan 31st and people already see a difference. Not eating bad food does wonders for the skin.
  22. I was banded on 1-31. I am still not hungry on 2-3. I was hungry before because of the steroid pills I was on. I stopped the prednisone so I could get the surgery. I will probably have to start back on the prednisone this week.

Anyone here get their Lap Band in Mexico?

I do not own a scale, so I am going with how I feel and clothes sizes. I have been a scale slave before an I really hated it.

Anyone here get their Lap Band in Mexico?

I am in Mexico Recovering right now. I am in Monterrey. Had the band installed yesterday. Still in a little pain but not to bad. I went to the mall with the nutrisionist and purchased some liquids for me to drink. I am not mobidly obese and work in a job that I walk alot, so the recovey is going really well. I would tell the rest of you guys to exercise as much as possible before getting the band done. I hope to lose the 50lbs by summer. I like the Mexico Doctors and hospital. It is nice to get the VIP treatment.
