Carie, you'll make your goal!! Congrats on having the maturity and foresight to get this done while you're young! Best of luck with your surgery. Mal, I had my surgery on May 2 and I go for my first fill this Friday and I AM READY...you put it exactly the way I feel...to move on to the next phase!!

Hey, if you feel good with it and the doctors are willing to do it AND the insurance cooperates, GO FOR IT!!!!! -
That is with the exception of the big bandage on the port site. It was on quite a bit longer.

To tell you the truth, I didn't even worry about the strips falling off. They just did within a couple of days. I never put anything else on them and I healed up quite quickly.

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
uniqueone replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had to do a two-week before liquid diet too. For me, after about three days, I wasn't really hungry....probably just numb!!!!!! Hopefully, it will go that way for you. Congratulations on your surgery. You won't regret it. -

I have never heard of anything so stupid and downright illogical in my life!!! Don't they realize it will cost them much MORE money in the long run?? Hang in there! I'll think good thoughts for you. -
Help find a cure for cancer and honor the memory of my Mother. Please!
uniqueone replied to Josette's topic in The Lounge
God bless. I believe in some way cancer has touched all of us through friends and/or family. It feels good to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause. I donated $20.00. Just wanted you to know that your thread was successful!! -
I'm 49 and all I can tell you is I agree with the people here who say they wish they could have gotten the band long ago. Life is hard enough for us at any age. Why not do something that can make a part of it a little more easy. Good luck on what you do decide and know we're all behind you whatever your choice.

Good Lord, I thought my old t.v. went caput!!! When I realized it was meant to be that way, I was even more disappointed. I had tvo'd the episode and was all excited. As the show progressed, I thought it was almost boring compared to most of the other episodes throughout the years. Like I said, at first I was unhappy. Now I'll just watch the reruns that I haven't seen in the past on A&E. btw, Lisah, way to go on your weight loss. What an inspiration you are to recently banded folks like me!!!!

oops --I didn't realize this was a Canadian thread...I don't even live close to you all. I'm in Reno, NV!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you don't mind!!!!!

A post I can be passionate about!!! I adopt strays from the Humane Society. Some of the strays I have found along the way and not one of them would I trade. I have two cats and one is 19 and was en route to the pound when he was a baby because the owner couldn't have him in the apt. complex where he lived. We currently have the two cats and five dogs! Thankfully, we live in the country!! The dogs were all adopted from the HS. We have a German Shepherd, A malmut, a golden retriever, a Samoyed and little mutt dog. Of all these the most sad to me was the Samoyed, Gus, who was eleven when we got him. He was taken to the HS because his owners wanted a puppy!! They had him for eleven years!!! Gosh I'm glad I don't know who they are. Well, now the old guy, 13 yoa, is living out his twilight years with lots of love and good food! A friendly reminder to please spay or neuter your animals if applicable (not going to breed). Sallie

I think it's a great idea to post those headshots every 10-20 pounds as well! Tracy, you look awesome!!!!!!!!! You're a very pretty lady! -
Laurend Dear, OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm wincing as I write this!!!:omg: It's quite possible that after this horrendous experience your surgery will seem like a piece of cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think any part of mine or my recovery period has even come close to any of what you have gone through. I just had my surgery a month ago so it's not that I am forgetting any of the pain or anything. I think you'll probably sail right on through and thank the good lord that the incisions are all ABOVE the belly button!!!!!!:clap2::clap2::clap2:

Jen, I'm so sorry for your loss. True friends are so much a part of us that when one dies, it leaves such an emptiness inside. The suggestions on this post for you are outstanding and I hope they help. Know I am thinking of you and you dear friend. Hang in and keep on posting. That alone probably helps you immensely. Much love, Sallie

Hi, 2bthin---we're about the same age (i'm 49) and have about the same amount of weight to lose. I had my surgery a month ago and have lost about twenty pounds and feel great. Most importantly....I don't think about food ALL THE DAMN TIME!!!!!!!!! Just thought you'd like to know that I think you're going to be very, very happy with your decision! I relate to you having the same numbers and all!!:welldoneclap: -
It was at the seminar that I decided to have the procedure. IT was so informative and I just knew it was for me. Good luck and everyone here will help you as much as we can!!!
-
I agree with ConnieCash!! I didn't even have the gas pain really. I just had a LOT of swelling which for me they said was normal. I had my surgery a month ago and I feel great. I've lost 15 pounds and am not hungry all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are great web sites all over the net. Look at www.inamedhealth.com which gives information regarding Lap-Band System. Take care and Good Luck!!!!
-
I've only had my band for a month, however, one of the attractions for me to have this procedure was that if there are any problems at all down the road, it is totally reversible!! So far I have lost almost twenty pounds, feel great and am so glad I made the decision I did!!!! Good luck to you on whatever you decide!!

Was he talking about gastric bypass surgery or the lap-band procedure?

lap band as out patient
uniqueone replied to Bamalama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too had my surgery on an out-patient basis. Went under at around noon and was home by five. I watched tv and slept and took my pain meds!!! It was wonderful to be in my own bed with my husband waiting on me hand and foot!!!
