Susan, I was banded on the exact same day. We have that in common, however, I have almost double the amount of weight to lose as you do! Anyway, I feel the exact same way as you all do. I have had one fill and the only good it's done really is to ensure I get more kinds of food STUCK! I have to consistently fight with myself NOT to fall into my old eating habits. Not buying the junk is a good start, however, I want to pig out even on the good stuff! Okay...this is more important...I troll you guys' thread sometimes because I like the way you all communicate with each other. Also, you sound like fun people. I am a voyer!!!!!!!!!!! I admit it. Soooooooooooo...to ease my conscience, I think you should make me a token Canadian. After all, I have relatives in the Seattle area and I have crossed the Canadian border many times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that should qualify me!!!! And..like I said before, I have been to Victoria three times, too!!!! Let me know if you think I qualify. If I don't I'll just keep spying on you all and try to get over to Vancouver and Victoria as much as possible until you think I do..................... Anxiously awaiting your replies! Also, if you guys ever come to Reno, where I live, I would make you honorary Nevadans, and specifically Renoites!!!!!!! You would absolutely flip out at our ghost towns, sage brush and 108 degree (our temp. Thursday) weather...what an extreme challenge it is to garden here!!! Seriously though, if you've never been to Lake Tahoe and its surrounding mountains, you would love them. After all, I do hail from the most mountainous state in the U.S. and the biggest little City in the world!! Sallie

I also love the pink lemonade and I'm going to try the slushy drink that Teachlady makes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
..oh and like the other poster said...you can have a little snickers (my very FAVORITE candy bar) now and then as well as other goodies....

Well, it is natural to be scared or apprehensive before any surgery. You know...you really know, I'm sure, there is no way to be magically thin or we'd all be there and the bariatric docs would all be out of business! I'm sure you know as well that the lap-band won't make you magically thin as well so I'm not even going to go in that. I have read on the board here that some others feel differently about the eating less food than I do. I could care less who sees me eat now. Sometimes I don't even eat at mealtime because I'm not hungry or I've already eaten. If people think I'm a freak, well so be it. At least I'm not trying to hide the wrappers of foods ...(mostly junk that I had gorged myself on) anymore! Best wishes to you on whatever you decide but please try not to sabatoge yourself before you even have the surgery if that's what you decide to do. You're worth more than that!!

Thank Goodness it counts because I also lost my taste for h20. I love the Crystal Lite peach iced tea!

What weight for regular size clothing??
uniqueone replied to KarenG.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm so with Cindilou on this one! I hope to never use a Lane Bryant, Just My Size, etc. catalog ever again! I also want to buy a garment that does not have a W or X after the size. I'm 5-7 and have no idea when that is going to occur but a celebration will definitely be in order because that will indeed be a milestone for me!!! -
Since I have an entire closet of clothes I cannot get into that I would love to wear and for I cannot wait, I, personally, would not buy something new. However, if it is going to help to give you incentive in your weight loss endeavor, go for it! I think even if it gets too big for you, that is as self-fulfilling as trying to get into it at the start!!!

I am SO glad it was posted that one stays full longer if they don't drink soon after a meal. I had conveniently blown this tidbit of information off. I was drinking within 30 min. or sooner after my meals and yes, I am sure I was feeling hungry faster than I would if I hadn't. My doc had said an hour or longer after meals; I guess I will follow his instruction!!
-
I don't care who knows but I don't work. I'm home all day and if anyone is talking about how I should be losing weight faster or thinking about giving me unwarranted advice, etc., I don't know about it. That's a big difference than being subjected to things like that. My family is supportive and I knew they would be so it was no problem telling them.

Per my doctor while actively trying to lose weight, 60 grams of protein is what I require. I love the protein drinks for two reasons: I can get in my protein easily and fixing them gets me out of the kitchen quickly when I'm feeling tempted to raid the refrigerator and/or the pantry. As others have said, it's up to the individual and also what their doctors say.

Head hunger - how do you deal with it?
uniqueone replied to Cherrybomb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am nine weeks after surgery and this is definitely my most difficult challenge. I am home alone during the day and fight myself to not overeat. It's head hunger without a doubt and I don't have any real answers for you, to date, however, I REALLY EMPATHIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
I can't eat link sausage. It got stuck so bad it scared me but I finally pb'd and for the first time I realized why it is called a PRODUCTIVE burp! I cannot eat bread of any kind, even whole wheat. It always gets stuck and is out of my diet now indefinitely. Beer and pop do not set well, however, wine once in a while is okay. I'm not a big drinker anyway so that's no prob. I have no desire for pop though I used to drink a lot of diet cokes, etc. per day. Now I drink iced tea, Water and crystal lite. A lot of folks on this board say they can eat complex carbs fine. So can I..I can eat and eat them...I always want more. So, for now, while I'm trying hard to reduce, I am trying to stick to lots of Protein as a first priority which is what my doctor suggests anyway. He says protein first, veggies next and fruit if still hungry. Good luck on doing whatever is right for you.

I have never heard the "no ice rule" and I eat it frequently. It's never bothered me and I had my surgery 2 1/2 months ago. Also, like was asked in another post..I drink with a straw all the time with no problems.

Did your insurance cover your lap-band?
uniqueone replied to mommy2kyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
..and had I known about Mexico and their rates, I would have gone there if I had been a self-pay provided I could have found a local fill doctor since Mexico is a few hundred miles from me. -
Did your insurance cover your lap-band?
uniqueone replied to mommy2kyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My insurance UHC paid everything but $2000.00. However, for years it didn't cover any bariatric surgery and I thought it was still that way. I was more than ready to take out a loan and be a self-pay, thinking I would have to apply for one for about $10,000. There was never any doubt in my mind that I would do this. I was ready and nothing was going to stop me...not even being in debt!!!! -
I, personally, would not have wanted to go to a movie the next night after my surgery. I would not have wanted to sit in one place for that long.

Lavender is one of the easiest things to grow. It will grow in hot, dry soil and soil like yours. I've planted it in full shade and the hot sun and it's one of the few things I've had come back year after year. Plus it smells heavenly!!

Now a prequel would be very cool!!!
-
Bjean, I held off from reading this thread also for the same reason you did. I don't have to reply to all this now because both your posts are right on. Thanks for saving me the time!!!!!!!! P.S. I'm a parent also - have one daughter and three stepchildren who have all become wonderful, productive adults.

Thanks Green and Susan Silver! I just love my guys but I have to have the HS employees pick out the ones that are going down soonest for me and they have to promise not to tell me about any others. I'm a sap and can't stand to even go back to the cages. Off the subject a little bit!! I've been to Vancouver B.C. and Victoria. Both places were awesome and we had a blast. My younger sister and I stayed in this magnificent hotel in Vancouver. Of course, I can't remember the name because I am blonde....Anyway, forgive my rambling but my husband and I want to go more places in Canada..We've loved what we've seen so far!

Heather, I had my surgery on 5-2-07 and each day did get better and I feel great now. Hang in. You'll get there! -
First of all, Welcome to the Site!!! I had my surgery on 05-2-07 and I have had no problem whatsoever with anything regarding the lap-band. Relearning how to eat is a challenge, however, so worth it! Keep us posted on how you're doing.
