Well, thanks for being so honest!!! I know there's lots and lots and lots! of folks who have been involved in this type of thing and it's so interesting to learn about it and what they've encountered, both positive and negative.
-
Sue, this is addressing the post from the other thread that you are in the wrong profession. I think you are absolutely in the right profession if you care enough and have the courage to ask these types of questions. I sympathize with you regarding your experiences re: the parents who feel their kids can do no wrong and behave accordingly especially before they learn the whole story behind a situation. These parents are far more detrimental to their children than any teacher could/would be and I'm sure are a pain in the butt in which to deal.

What amazes me is how much money people are willing to pay these popular "t.v. people". Of all of them, Sylvia Browne intrigues me the most so I've read quite a bit about her. She charges something like $700.00 per half hour for a reading OVER THE TELEPHONE! Now her son is on board with the readings (he apparently has the gift as well). I would assume it's because she got so busy. This woman's many, many books have been on the best seller's list numerous times. I just don't get it.

Skany Evil Repulsive Patient Coordinators

Is the information on this board wrong because it indicates she did. If she didn't start it, who did? -
The favoritism thing is a big issue with me. I believe that behavior is deplorable. I also believe the teacher (and any others who behave similiarly) who said, "how sad" to the child regarding the Christmas story should be disciplined. I'd have been to that school immediately to complain. I love it when a teacher inspires children in a positive direction through his or her passion for the subject they teach. I love it when a teacher guides students to think for themselves regarding any subject on any level and doesn't have an attitude of "my way or the highway".

I've heard experiences such as this before. Definitely hard to explain away....

I was referring Gadget to clear up any confusion.

Well, I'm with you for sure. I'm just befuddled how anyone could believe these people, but, like I said, millions do..Montel Williams, for instance, is an educated, intelligent man who has said he believes Sylvia Browne and has her on every Wed. to prove it. I'm dying to hear from people who believe what she or any of the others say. There's gotta be some who do. I wish they'd respond. There's always two sides.

If only there were more like you. Happy Holidays to you and your family!!!

Informing you that it is rude to lump people together and call them fools for what they believe is neither an insult nor sarcasm. It is simply the truth. P.S. No thanks to the rosary. I already have one.
-
Exactly. You make what you want, if anything, out of the holiday. Everyone has a choice. The commercialization is a pain in the ass but shopping on line:ranger: has given me a whole new, calmer perspective even on that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One time I got one from a woman who bragged that her grandson was potty trained at age one......................
-
Ditto! At least it's somewhat realistic it seems..especially for this woman! Usually, in my experience anyway, people use them as an opportunity to brag..a lot...sometimes about really STUPID stuff. I like getting them from people I hardly know who talk about people I don't know at all and/or from people I don't like!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Off topic, Josebies, but CONGRATULATIONS on that weight loss!!!!
-
I was totally amazed how much I ate when I started writing it down. I had read several times in magazines, etc. to keep a food journal and I blew it off for the longest time..then one day I just decided to do it and S H O C K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, needless to say, I realized I was NOT one of those folks who couldn't figure out why they were heavy!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one great ending to one of these c.s. (or lack of) stories! I LOVE IT!!! The lyin' b...h!!!!:whoo::whoo::whoo:

Looking for a Dr in the Reno/Sacremento Area
uniqueone replied to CDHilbmann's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Connie, Reno has the Western Batriatric Institute Western Bariatric Institute :: Home I was banded by one of their four doctors (Watson). The entire place is great---from the office personnel to the nutritionist to the nurses--check out their web site and see what you think. If you have any specific questions, you can pm me if you like. -
I think "Shut Your Gob and Move Your Ass" should be a bumper sticker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

I think that not only do people want to be phonily reassured and sometimes actually downright lied to when they're screwing up so they'll feel better about themselves but they also CHOOSE to misinterpret the tone and intent of advice and suggestions from others. My gosh, why in the world would people who have achieved (or damn near have) their goals and who obviously have lives outside of their banding experience type post after post after post...answering our repetitive questions and offering up opportunities to learn from their mistakes so we don't have to go through the pain (physical and sometimes emotional) they did if their hearts aren't in the right places? I just cannot believe they're lurking around this site to boast of their achievements on the off chance they can make us feel bad about ours.

Good point..not to mention that Good Ol' Saint Nick would surely sound like a LUNATIC!!!! (like my Christmas rhyme???)

I've been in the position of offering jobs and subsequently having them declined. I liked promptness in the decision not to take the job and sincere thankfulness for the offer. These two simple acts, for me, burned no bridges.

Personally, I think it would be very annoying for Santa to go around saying, "HA HA HA"! Just because of what I'm used to for sure but it would definitely take some getting used to..and somehow it loses it's meaning to me as well.

I love the atmosphere of Starbucks. I love the smell and the coziness of it especially in the wintertime. We don't go in often but when we do, I love sitting at one of their little tables or in a comfortable chair just shooting the breeze. It's one of my simple pleasures in life. I usually get a nonfat latte so calories are that much a prob except my husband HATES their coffee (thinks it's way too strong) so he usually gets one of their high calorie foo foo drinks which he doesn't really need AT ALL!

Congratulations To Both Of You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There seems to be a bunch of different opinions on this. I am a person who needs an absolute goal to work towards achieving in order to maintain a proper regime. I have no idea if I will need to tweak my weight number down the road either way and right now it doesn't matter because I have a ways to go before I get there. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. For now, working towards that number I've chosen (which is right in the middle of my healthy weight range) is working for me and that's key. Find out what works for you and DO IT!!!! Good luck in whatever you choose.
