  1. I was sleeved on May 10th at 296 (weighed 320 before I started the pre-op diet). I'm already down to 216 and losing steadily. I have no doubt I'll reach goal. I also met one of his old patients while there and she was at goal. Dr. Aceves driver and asst. surgeion both had the surgery and are at goal as well.
  2. Anybody? I know it can be really rough for some in those first few weeks and I want to give them some hope. Also, did you struggle early on but love it now? I'm 4 months out and was terribly exhausted for at least 10 weeks, which I didn't expect, but I'm 101 pounds down and would do it again in a heartbeat.
  3. My doc ok'd Zyrtec just a couple days after surgery. I used the childrens grape flavored chewable for the first month. The children's is the same 10 mg dosage, but a little easier on the new tummy.
  4. The first few weeks can be rough and regrets are common as your body and mind adjust. Six months down the road you will love your sleeve. I would love it if anyone over 6 monts post op and regrets it would chime in. I'm guessing there will be few to none.

    Massages after surgery?

I got my first massage 2 weeks after surgery. No problem laying on my stomach, but I was sleeping on my stomach just a few days after surgery. I've found that regular deep tissue massages have been a God send in moving out the toxins that the emptying fat cells are leaving behind.

    Caffeine? Husband?

I was a total coffee hound before surgery. I drank a pot before work, drank Diet Coke all day, more coffee for the commute home, diet coke all evening, then more coffee just before bed. It was nothing for me to go into Starbucks or other coffee shops and get 6 shots of espresso with a splash of cream. Coffee tastes gross now and I don't miss it at all at 3 1/2 months out.
  7. I was sleeved May 10th. I'm feeling great and down 66 pounds since surgery, 90 pounds including my pre-op loss.

    Pills vs Chewables

I have a Protein shake every morning. I use the Bariatric Advantage chocolate flavored calcium and french vanilla multi Vitamin. I grind the calcium and vitamin in my coffee grinder and mix it into my shake. I also use liquid zinc and Vitamin D and they go into the shake as well. I can't taste any of the supplements. I'm 3 months out and can take pillsbut this is still my method of choice.

    Peanut Butter?

    The PB2 is great stuff.
  10. I feel so damned tired and worn out. Day after day. I've never had nausea or reflux or any difficulty eating or drinking. I'm getting in my minium amounts of Protein and Water. I take a Multi specially formulated for bariatric patients, plus: Vit D, B12, Iron, zinc, Biotin, Calcium. I am just so tired. I work on my feet and have had to shorten my days because I just can't make it through. Some days I'm able to catch a short nap, but still can't wait for bed time, then I wake up exhausted, dreading my day. I'm hypothyroid, but take my meds faithfully. I was optimized on meds and feeling good with lots of energy and stamania at 320 pounds, but now, at 240, I'm dragging through each day. I'm not due for lab work for another month and I pay out of pocket, so would prefer not to fork out an extra $500 if I don't have to. Is this normal to feel so tired this far out? I thought that with this much weight off and this far out, I would be buzzing through my days, but instead, every day is a struggle.
  11. I use the Bariatric Advantage chocolate flavored chewables, turn them into powder with a coffee grinder and mix into my morning protein shake.

    When should I weigh?

I had my husband remove the scale from the bathroom and I will weigh one month out from surgery. I may keep that up for a few months. I don't want to have to deal with fluctuations.
  13. I guess I'm the first one to post here. I got my date set with Dr. Aceves. I'll be flying down by myself on May 9th and having surgery on May 10. I will be having my surgery on my birthday. I had to book it well in advance because of my work schedule, otherwise, I'd be down there as fast as they could book me in.
  14. I ate 4 pieces of canned cheese raivoli tonight and couldn't feel any restriction at all. Later, I ate 1/2 cup of refried Beans with cheese, the stiff kind from a can, not the runny kind. Again, no feeling of restriction. I'm still worried.
  15. I'm on day 20. I'm supposed to start soft foods tomorrow. I can drink pretty much as much as I want as fast as I want, but I can also eat a lot of cream Soup (even thicker stuff) and can down a sugar free pudding with no problems. I'm worried.

    Coated tongue

I got it too, but most of brushed off with my tooth brush and original yellow listerine. A couple more brushings with the listerine over the next couple of days and went away completely.

    Calling all May Sleevers!

I got my sleeve yesterday with Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. Everything has gone well and it isn't neatly as painful as I thought it would be. I got my iv out today. Drain will come out tomorrow and I'll be flying home on Friday.
  18. I hear it helps a lot with the shoulder pain that comes along from blowing your tummy up with the gas. I already have one packed in my bag and now I'm wondering if I might need a small extention cord....
  19. My surgery is in a week, but I've had my date for about 3 months. Awhile back I picked a date and gave myself 2 weeks to eat anything I damned well pleased, then on my chosen start date I switched over to strict low carb, which my doc requires for his 7 day pre-op. That was 40 days ago and I'm down 25 pounds. At over 300 pounds, a loss of 25 doesn't really show much, but when I start adding post op weight loss, it will start to be noticable that much sooner.
  20. I'll be right behind you guys. I'm May 10th, which also happens to be my birthday . I'm sure wishing I could have red velvet cake for my birthday. I still have 2 bigs slabs of red velvet cake from my wedding in the freezer. Maybe I can have a couple of bites in October on my 1 year wedding/6 month sleeve anniversary.

    April Sleevers?

Can somebody who has been to Dr. Aceves recently tell me what hotel they use for the night before surgery? I'd like to try to look it up online, if possible, since I'll be traveling alone.
  22. For those with IBS that have been sleeved, after the surgery is your IBS still there, gone, beter, still there but different in some way? Thank you in advance for any insight you may have to offer.
  23. Can you kind of walk me through the first day? Check in, tests, etc? Catheter? If so, before you are asleep or after and when does it come out? How long are you hooked up to an IV? Are you feeling well enough to walk to the pharmacy by yourself the day before you leave? Is there an opportunity on the pre-op day? Are you allowed to eat whatever you want for dinner on pre-op day? Is there a decent place to eat at or very near the hotel? Do they really not have wash cloths at the hospital? Did you have diarrhea on going home day? If anyone had a revision: On me, Dr. Aceves plans on doing a barium swallow test and an endoscope under heavy sedation on pre-op day. If you had this done, how groggy were you after?
  24. Check the airlines directly, too. Alaska was way cheaper ($126 one way) on their site than they were on all the "discount" sights (Over $300).
