Has anyone gotten out of the Dr supervised diet?
Paula78 replied to TheLid's topic in Insurance & Financing
Well I have BCBS of Kansas, and since I'm Type 1 diabetic I did not have to go through the 6 month or 1 year diet. It only took about 2 months to get an apporoval. (Which seemed like forever at the time.) I did have to go for a psych eval but that was it! -
i shop at fashion bug, and sometimes at walmart.

tann~ I guess i didnt see that, sorry! Just trying to be helpfull!

Ok just remember that what happened yesterday was yesterday! Shit happens there are going to be set backs but you really can't kick yourself for what happened. Its a new day. Go for a walk or do something good for yourself. As far as the weight loss goes have you talked to your doctor? Im sure you have. Im still new to this band but ive heard a lot of ppl say that keeping a food journal has helped to evaluate whats going wrong. Maybe you could take that into the doctor. I hope you are feeling better today, and just remember we're all here for you!! Take Care, Paula:)

Who wants to tell me what a PB is? I know it stands for productive burp, but what does that mean exacly? Throwing up the "slime"? Im just trying to figure out if Ive had one.
-
Ok I'm going to ask again. What is a PB? I know it means a productive burp, but Is it just another way to say vomiting?
-

Thank you so much! -
My Nurse tells me that I can no longer drink Diet Dr Pepper, because "diet pop is known to increase hunger because of the artifical sweetners". I think this is B S personally. But i have given up my beloved diet dr p for the most part. Ive also heard something about it streching the pouch. So I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry! I still have one a few times a week though. Which is way less than i use to drink it! I have not had any problems at all drinking it either!

PLM~ Yeah I think i saw it while I was there. I love the Eagle sculpture you have there at that round-about it was beautiful. I took a picture of it, but it was getting dark so it didnt turn out so well! P.s. I'd like to hear more about your success you can send me an email and feel free to check out my home page too.

Yes I stress hard core about gaining weight too. I was banded on the 6th of March, and ive lost 30 pounds but, Im so worried about gaining weight that I do feel like Im starving myself sometimes. Ive only had one fill though and i hear that it doesnt always do the trick. So i guess ill just keep on feeling hungry untill i get the right fill. P>S> I was in Idaho falls in march visiting my aunt.Im from Kansas. I liked it up there!

Just had a fill--can I eat too much?
Paula78 replied to Angelator's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ive noticed the same thing. It really feels like I could eat alot more if I wanted to, but i dont because I refuse to gain weight anymore! I feel like Im almost starving myself. I feel hungry alot of the day, but I wont let myself binge. I hope things change when I get my second fill. Because ive not yet felt the feeling of being full, and I guess more importantly I want these terrible hunger pains to go away. I have lost 30 pounds in just six week but hell i feel like i could of done this all by myself. -
Traveling by plane tomorrow
Paula78 replied to JeninCO's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I flew about 3 weeks after surgery. My suggestion is to wear comfy pants. (Elestic waist) I wore jeans and because I was still a little swollen they really pressed into my stomach and hurt. I would definatly take advantage of the wheel chair option too! Other wise you may not make if you were like me. (I got tiired so quickly that first week)
-
I was banded about 6 weeks ago, and this may be a dumb question but here goes. What is the definition of "restriction"? Maybe since Im at my first fill I havent actually experianced it yet. Right now Im so scared to put back on the 30 pounds that i've lost that i stop eating before i feel full. The problem is that i still feel hunger pains all day and I keep getting "hunger headaches". I want to do this the right way, but its so much fun to see the weight slipping away that Im almost at a point were Im scared to eat? Can anyone relate to this or am I just insane?

OK so I just had my first fill yesterday 1cc. I'm still on the liquid diet for most of today, but I was wondering has anyone had much success with their first fill? I'm a little discouraged because I was hoping to not feel quite so hungry this next month like I have the month before (before the fill). However after reading a few threads it doesnt sound too promising! Is there anyone out there who has felt some good restricitions after their first fill? I need some words of encouragement!! P.S Although I've been fighting the Bitch i like to call hunger, I've still managed to kick her ass:boxing: and lose 20+ pounds!

My daughter was 8 (shes nine now) when I had the surgery on March 06-07. She's a little older than your children. But i basically told Halley that i had to do this to feel better. I explained to her the procedure with pictures and such. She was very upset at first. She really did not want me to do, because she thought something might happen to me. But over the course of a few months she came around. I think it helped by telling her that once i start losing weight we'll be able to do more of the things we use to do (biking, swiming etc..)Children are very smart and I think its important to be as honest with them as possible. My only concern was that i was afraid that i was going to make my daughter more weight conscience than she already is....but overall i think it its been a positive experiance

I too had a sore throat for the first few days. Chloreseptic throat spray worked awesome for me!
-
I am now 6 weeks out but I remember that first week after surgery I was pretty sore. I also had a slight fever 101. I kept thinking to myself Im never going to heal. I almost let it get the best of me. I think what changed it for me was when i realized that my husband misread the pain med label and was not giving me enough. Once i started taking the right dose I started feeling much better! And by the third week I was on vactaion. And now im down about 25 pounds! Paula:)

I have a question for anyone who cares to answer. I was just banded in March, the 6th to be excact. Is it true that were not suppose to have carbonated beverages? If so why? What about caffeine? I read in the guide book, that my surgeon gave me, that after four weeks it was ok just dont over do it. Ive been drinking diet root beer and have not had any problems. And i enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning as well with no problems. Paula
