Hi everyone! I thought I'd check out this thread to see if anyone lived near Wichita. I was banded at the Weight Loss Surgical Center in Overland Park on March 6th. Loved to talk to anyone on here.
-
I really wonder which 2 will be going home tonight? I thought they all did well, except poor Jordin. Im nervous because she is my favorite.
-
My doctor said that it was ok to eat the day of a fill.

That did rock! We recored AI on our DVR so Ive seen it twice now and Im not going to delete so i can watch it again later...lol! I grew up listening to Bon Jovi, but I liked Blake's version just as much as the orginal! I bet theres going to be some pissed off hard core fans that didnt like it... :rockon: Rock on Blake!

That is a little strange! Did they test you before you had surgery? What is your weight now? Im type 1 Diabetic, have been since I was 12. Honestly 160 doesnt sound that bad, but my DH had blood work done and his was 116 fasting and they said that he needed to watch it. Apparently the new standard for a fasting Blood sugar is 100 or less. Either way hopefully its a fluke but if not its good that you caught when you did and atleast it wasnt that high, you should be able to keep it under good control! Keep us posted

Ok so I have a question. Has anyone been told by there doctor how many calories you should be getting a day? I've heard some people say 600-800. Which dosent seems like not much, especially if you havent hit your "sweet spot." Or is that for bandsters that were at a good fill level. What about us that are'nt so lucky yet? Do we just go by a standard amount? Also if you are only getting 600-800 calories a day how can you get all the protein you need? My doctor wants me to have at least 60g of protein and 25g of fiber a day.
-
So you did use to eat breakfast and lunch before surgery but you dont now? So the band is working if your not hungry most of the day right? I was just asking because you had mentioned earlier that you had'nt hit your sweet spot yet.
-

Well heres a typical day for me:

Breakfast= 2 eggs=14g of Protein

Lunch= Healthy choice=10g of protein

Dinner= chicken and a veggie= not sure how much protein is in chicken

Avg's out to about 1000 calories a day
Bubble did you use to be hungry during the day before you had surgery?
-
Bubble, Are you at your sweet spot? What ways are you getting your protein?

I agree waiting is the worst part of it all! It feels like your entire life is on hold until you find somehting out. I am 29 and had been having chest pains back in Jan. So my dr ordered testing anyway it came back saying that my heart looked a little enlarged and they wanted to do more testing the echocardio-whatever. Oh my gosh, I could hardly function knowing that something might be wrong. Well finally about 2 weeks later we received the test results and they determined everything was Normal, thank god! But that was the one of the toughest two weeks of my life. I will be praying for you and thinking of you!!! :hug:Paula

:help: Has anyone had issues with constipation? If so what has worked to correct it. I suspect that it may be that I'm not getting enough fiber. Are'nt there fiber powders available? I drink plenty of water so I'm sure that's not the problem.
-
You know thats interesting you should ask. Ive discovered that iron suppliments can cause your stools to be dark green too. I wonder if its causing constipation as well. Ive been taking Flinstones complete Vitamins for a few weeks now.?? Hmmm maybe thats part of the problem.. You guys all rock!:rockon:

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I think Im going to try Benefiber. Ive done the milk of magnesia and cant seem to find a happy medium with it (its all or nothing if you know what i mean!...LOL)

So why doesnt insurance pay to have the port fixed? I would think that would be covered.
-
Ok so I've seen a lot of people say that for breakfast they are doing the protein shakes. Some are saying they do cereal. Doesnt that defeat the purpose of the band? If its liquid I would think that it would not fill you up through out the morning. Or maybe youre not hungry in the morning and that does get you by??? I'm asking because I'm tired of breakfast foods (eggs). I use to be a big breakfast eater, but I've found the band has taken the "fun" out of it. Which is ok! Honestly the band has taken the fun out of eating in general! But thats also ok, because that's how I got to be where I am today. (Overweight) Anyway I'm rambling, but I was just wondering how you morning shake drinkers do it.

I wonder where this woman is now and if the mgb "fixed" her problem.

How did you find out about the Band?

I was up really early one morning and saw a commercial for lapband.com. Within like 2 mins I was online researching it, and by the end of the day I was calling my insurance co to see if I was covered. And guess what I was and here I am now going on 2 months! -
So does the protein shake get you through the morning? Or do you have a small snack?
-
Here's my thoughts on cooking and cleaning for that matter:

How long does it take to recover?
Paula78 replied to Lisa H's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think a good rule of thumb is a week or 5 business days. I started feeling better by the third day, but I still felt weak moving around for about a week. P.S. It proabably would have helped if my husband had read the label on the loritab right! I was getting about half the dose for the first two days. (TBSP= tablespoon , not a teaspoon!) LOL -
Well since were on the subject of tanning... Has anyone ever used the "mister spray on tan"?Back in my skinnier days, I use to tan all the time, but I havent gone in several years. Ive become more health conscience though and would like to try the spray on. I have a wedding to go to in July and it would be nice to not be mistaken for Casper!!! LOL

Mine was 1 cc on April 12th. I go back in a couple of weeks for another fill, .25, I think or maybe its .50 can't remember. I personally have not felt much difference, but some people do. In some ways this second month has been the hardest. Thats because I'm completely healed from surgery have my appetite back, yet dont fell the restrictions yet. Its definatly a will power challenge!

My favorite thing to eat for lunch are Healthy Choice Meals. I also like the Dinty Moore dinners there not frozen and usually have chicken with potatoes,or beef stew,and some others. Those only take a bout a 90 sec to warm up. Just be careful the chicken can be a little dry so take very small bites.
