  1. Today - I was the sexiest shopper in Walgreens - I purchased Gas X strips - because my stomach feels so bloated and almost pregnant - cant even suck it in, and I am constipated, so I bought liquid stool softener - on top of that gorgeousness, I also have a cold - so threw in some cold medicine. I have been up and down the same 3 pounds for 4 days - taking in MAYBE 600 calories a day - and exercising...I think my body is revolting against me...please tell me this will go away soon and the weight will drop again!
  2. Thanks so much - Ive been going 176 to 179, up and down all week! Helps to know other people went through this - I'm sure everyone feels like - I'm the one person who this isn't going to work for! The first 28 pounds flew off! Wish that pace would keep up! Can I ask what you all were eating at 4 weeks and what type of exercise you were getting - the bloating feeling makes it rough! Thanks!

    October Sleevers

I had my operation on 10/14, transitioning to mushies - ricotta cheese, tuna, salmon, all fabulous compared to liquid. I'm down 28 pounds so far and only 26 to go to goal! Frustrating because I'm maybe eating 600 calories a day - and think because of that I should be losing a pound a day...AT LEAST! I would love a cracker - or something that crunches!!!

    time off of work?

I was more than ready after 5 days - had surgery on thursday - was back to work the next week with no issues. Its week 3 as of Thursday and I feel great - working out already, went for a long bike ride today, long walk yesterday. My doctor said I would need a week at most
  7. I was lap band converted to sleeve on 10/14. I have lost about 22lbs since surgery. I started years ago with the lapband at 312, lost a total of 137lbs, then gained 33 lbs when my band slipped. all and all, I am only 7lbs away from my lowest weight with the band and 42lbs away from my overall goal...All this math out of the way now....I am never hungry - but I miss delicious food. I am in the puree stage and have a bout a tablespoon of hummus and another of cottage cheese and thats a meal - i dont eat until im full - i just eat until its done and I feel satisfied. What I need to know is - what will I be eating in 4 months portion wise? I know it doesn't last forever eating like Kate Moss - with the band it got to the point where I could eat a small reasonable size meals and feel like a normal person who people didnt comment on how little I ate- when will that happen again? Thank you - Im loving the losing - but this part is hard....
  8. Thanks - right now I feel like a wierdo and not even close to my former life. I was very used to eating small amounts - I love to do out to dinner, enjoy a cocktail or two and have a good time. Cant go out to dinner and order a bowl of baby food! And how I would love a glass of wine - just to feel like my old self again (I do not have a drinking problem)- I just used to enjoy a nice glass of wine after a bath with candles lit and my lifetime movie on to relax after a long week. I also work in entertainment where so much about is is socializing and events. I will however enjoy being super hot!
  9. Anyone try sashimi post op? If so what was your experience. Im not talking about sushi with rice - i was lap band and converted, so I got very used to no rice. I am 12 days post op and craving chopped spicy tuna...hoping my Dr will greenlight me to start soft/mushee Proteins at my appt on Wednesday. Im souped out, hate cold things and chocolate.... Thanks!
  10. I am 8 days out today - I havent really had any issues with getting all of my fluids in - except for the fact I am utterly, bitterly tired of everything liquid. Especially cold things. Nor am I a fan of sweet things...I am craving a bright green salad more than words can say! Am I the only one who didnt have issues with liquids? I have been getting in at least 2 protein shakes a day - about 2 cups of soup (total) and water, maybe topped with a sugar free popsicle. I was a band to sleeve conversion - is this unusual? Ive lost about 20lbs so far - including the 12 I lost in he 3 day clear liquid pre-op.

    6 days post op

So jealous you got to eat an egg so soon! I was sleeved on 10/14 and cant have eggs until week 5! 4 more weeks from today! My surgeon allows only liquids (including sugar free pudding & yogurt) for weeks 1 & 2. The weeks 3&4 can add cottage cheese and blended oatmeal. Week 5 is soft scrambled eggs and soft Proteins like tina fish.... I'm not hungry - but I am so sick and tired of Soup and drinking and cold things! Down almost 20lbs since pre-surgery (Clear Liquids for 3 full days)...I had the band before so I become quite used to small portions, etc...band slipped so I converted it. I'm so looking forward to hot food that is NOT soup related - I'm about to lose my mind!!!!!!
  12. Had my surgery done last week (lap band to sleeve) and lying here crying because im so over tomato Soup, butternut squash soup, blended cream of mushroom soup - Im not a fan of cold things so trying to take in as much Protein as I can - I also am not a chocolate fan...any other soup suggestions to get me though the next week and 2 days until I can have a scrambled egg and cottage cheese?? The band was only a few days of each stage - this 2 weeks at a time stinks - Ill do it - but it stinks. Im so craving yummy seared ahi tuna and a delicious salad with a yummy ginger vinagrette!!!

3 wks post and FRUSTRATED w/food!!

Seems like every surgeon has a different post op diet - mine is strictly liquids for two weeks after, then can add in cottage cheese and baby food, then weeks 5-6 can start with soft proteins, "regular" new diet to start week 6 -maybe you are starting too much too soon. Im about to lose my mind on tomato soup, chicken broth, more soup, soup and soup!!!!

    Surgery day stories

I totally get it - I was looking for the same -just had my surgery done last week so let me tell you all the details... Started clear liquid Diet Monday (surgery Thursday) - that was painful, considering I had given myself carte blanche to eat WHATEVER I WANTED for the two weeks before. I had been banded 5 years ago and lost over 100lbs, band slipped in May, regained about 30 lbs, so I figured ten more - no biggee 3 days before surgery had to go to the hospital to pre-register, sign all paperwork and have blood taken Day before I had to drink a liter of Halflightly - tasted so gross had to close my eyes and just get it done. Proceeded to spend the rest of the day in the bathroom, which amazed me considering I had only had chicken broth, tea and Water for the past 3 days. Thursday- the big day, I was terrified. I hate hospitals, and was concerned about complications since I have a 6 year old daughter. My boyfriend took me - had to be there by 5:30AM. Arrived, proceeded right to the floor I was told to go to, a nurse showed me my room, they gave me a gown and socks to put on - the reality set in and all I could think about is I wanted this over. I changed and read a magazine while I waited for them to come and take me to surgery. They came at about 7am, I climbed on to the gurney and was wheeled down to teh elevator, the nurse directed my boyfriend to the family waiting area, I kissed him goodbye and cried, then they wheeled me into the pre-surgery holding area. Here they asked me my name, what my procedure was and how I was doing. They also put my IV in. I was freaking out - kept wondering if I was doing the right thing. Considering the challenges Ive had my whole life, until the band, I knew it was. The anesthesiologist came in a few minutes later and introduced himself, asked me about how i reacted. I told him I tend to get very nauseous coming out of surgery and I get the shivers. He said he would be sure to give e something to help that. A few moments later my surgeon came in - I went to Dr Paya in West Hills, CA. He is amazing and I trusted him completely. He did my band before- the slippage was not due to anything he did, it was either my major acid reflux or bad filled (missed) from another doctor I stupidly went to. Dr Paya is a specialist in this field, not just a surgeon who added it to his roster. He cares about his patients and when I found out the band slipped, he and his team did everything they could to not only help me get insurance to approve, but to also get me through it without losing my mind. I then was brought into the OR, all of the nurses introduced themselves - they were beyond nice and put me at ease. They gave me the shot in the IV to relax me, and I was out! Woke up later and thought they hadnt done anything yet. The nurses told me I was all done, everything was fine and I was in recovery. The pain was pretty bad, and I felt a bit nauseous. They immediately gave me something to help both. I think it was now 11am or so - since I had the band removed as well, surgery took more time. They wheeled me back to my room, I rolled into bed and was in and out for hours. My awesome boyfriend came in with a giant mushy teddy bear and flowers. I slept with the bear and pushed my button for pain meds as often as I could! I wasnt in much - but didnt want any either! At around 3pm I had to use the bathroom, so i got up and went - not very comfortable, but bearable- FAR better than when I had the band! The rest of the day I slept - no water allowed, I was SOOOOO THIRSTY,so I brushed my teeth Also did a few laps around the floor, was fine, but made me a little light headed. I was awoken many times throughout the night with people checking my blood pressure, temp, and received a shot in my tummy to help get some gastric activity. Also had some blood taken. They took me down for an upper GI at about 9am. Took 2-3 sips of Fluid, took x rays while standing up. Then back to my room where I waited for results. Walked around a little. At about 2pm, nurse brought a tray of chicken broth, sugar free sorbet and tea - my results were in and all was good. All I had to do was eat a little, walk a little more and I was out! THe broth looked gross - had a few bites of sorbet, some sips of tea, but drank about a half cupof water. At about 5pm, I was ready to go home! got dressed, walked myslef out and to the car, them went to bed. Doiing great so far- already sick of Soup =- but not willing to risk anything and go off the diet program. My first day to eat "normal" food again will be thanksgiving - super excited! Already down about 20lbs - i tend to lose weight fast. I only want to lose about 40 or 50 more, pending how I look. Still not back at work thinking wednesday will be the day. Hope this helps - good luck! It will be over before you know it!
  15. Im on day 3 of clear liquid diet - im so very hungry, my eye is twitching and I would kill for a latte! Im getting my band removed and being sleeved tomorrow morning - I hate hospitals, I hate pain so I am very much looking forward to it being over!! I need to buy Protein today - they all sound pretty yucky - any suggestions? Im not a big chocolate or shake fan... Thanks!
  16. I was banded over 4 years ago - it was great I lost over 100lbs. Until I developed bad reflux, vomited a lot and then realized I could eat like my former self. Went to the Dr and found out the band had slipped. It was also causing me pain and discomfort depending on how I moved or stretched. I am having it removed and being sleeved in 17 days. I will not get on a scale and have given myself permission to eat whatever I want until I need to start Clear liquids...I figure I've been so good for the past 4 years - even if I gave a few pounds, its ok. I wasn't nervous, until I started thinking about things in the hospital. Not a fan of those places and hate that I have to spend the night. Could you please share your in hospital experience so I have an idea of what to expect? Thanks!
  17. Thank you! DId you have to stay in the hospital? Also - I hear some people get catheters - others do not - Ugggh - I do not!
