stef: my sandels are a brand called "KEEN" I got them just before I went to zion. Whats really cool about them is they have closed toes. They held up really good hiking. I put about 30 miles on they while I was in zion and my feet still feel fine. I do have some TEVAs but I only use they when I am at the beach or river. I don't know how they would hold up hiking I know they are built strong.

Ok, I did not really think about what I was doing. My friend had a crawfish boil tonight. I downed a crap load of crawfish and about 6 beers. The last time I drank was back in march and 90lbs ago (I was feeling darn drunk after about 2 drinks but I did not stop) what really bugged me was the fact that I could eat so much crawfish and I never really felt full. I have had one fill and my doc really don't want to do more because I am only 30lbs from my goal. I was drinking the sametime as when I was eating. maybe that's why I never felt full. I know the crawfish is good protein but the beer could not be good for me, but it the first time in a long time. I think if I only do this one or two times a year I will be in good shape. I think I will worklout a little more in the tmorning. Anyhow I really feel like crap about what I did tonight and I wanted to get it off my back.

MM: sorry it took so long to anwser you about where I hike. I live about 55 miles east of LA cail. I live about 5 mins from the san bernardino mountains thats where I hike most of the time. This whole past week I spent camping in Zion NP in southern utah, where I did alot of hiking. I think zion is my fav place on earth. Here is a pic of a hike called "angels landing" it's a small ridge with 1800ft on one side and 1200ft of the other. I was pretty freaked out up there but it was so much fun.

it's been really hot out here. I have not felt like doing much of anything let alone exercise. I went for a run 45 mins yesterday and nothing yet today i might go out late tonight when it's cooler. Stef: You did 2 hours of biking the other day, Thats alot of riding! I still have not got on my bike yet I think I will try when I come back from work next, it should be cooler. MM: The water jog class sounds like fun. I don't think my gym does anything like that. I hate those tapes also I won't do them at all. I am sure it gets alot cooler where you live than me but I lived in montana one winter and I really enjoyed going for walks in the cold. I had to walk about 2 miles a day to get to work because growing up in so ca I would kill myself trying to drive in the snow. I also heard you burn more cals in the cold reather that the heat. I don't know if thats true or not. anyway keep up with the hard work.

Ja9va: I don't always have this much time to exercise. It's just my time off just worked out to where I can take almost all august off. I only get 1 to 1 1/2 hours most of the time when I am working. plus the fact that I picked up hiking makes it alot more enjoyable. Like today I hiked for 5 1/2 hours with 1/2 hour rest. There is no way I could ever go to the gym or run around the town for that long. Finding something thats fun is the trick to exercise I think.

waters: No I did not lose 89 lbs in six weeks. I have lost 25 lbs in 6 weeks and the other 64lbs in the 12 weeks before that. I don't know anyone that has ever lost that much in 6 weeks. I don't even think that could be done.

I got my first fill today. Everything went really well, only took about 15 mins. My doc would not tell me how much he put in, he said when he tells people how much he fills people start to worry about numbers and not really how the fill is working. I also found out that I have lost 14 lbs since the last follow up (4 weeks ago). so I am darn happy with my weight loss so far. I get to start eating food friday and i will see how well the fill works so far I have been drinking just fine. As far as the water go, my doc told me I could drink till I start eating and have to wait no less than 60 mins after the meal. Sorry about the pics, I am just so excited about the new me.

I did my hike to day I went just over 7 miles and a little less than 3000ft. It took 5 1/2 hour and I rested 4 times with a total of 60 mins giving me 270 mins for the day. I am hoping I get my first fill in the morning so no more hiking for me till I start eating food once more, I have 3 days of blended stuff.

ja9va: I go in to get my fill on aug 7th at 10:00 and I can't wait. I am just alittle bit freaked out because I am always reading about people with their ports fliping on them. I am sure it's nothing to worry about but I always worry I guess. It sound like it's no big deal fixing it I just hope it's ok. Bigbaby: Thats cool you got your port fixed so fast. Do you know if your insurance is going to cover it or do you got to pay for it yourself? Are you in much pain?

stef: I got the band because I want to do the stuff I used to do 120lbs ago ( scuba, hiking, mountain biking, dirt biking ect ) I am alittle freaked out about the biking because last time I went for a ride it hurt my butt so bad I hated to sit down. I have been riding beach bikes but they got the big seat. I think my butt is to big for the mountain bike seats. I have not been on a ride since my weight loss maybe it will be better now.

I just got back from work on Aug 1st I have most of Aug off so I got lots of time to exercise On aug 1st I went to the park with my sister and her kids and just played catch up with everything so I only got a hour brisk walk. but today I went for my first real hike since the band and it felt really good. I hiked for 4hours and 30 mins with three ten min breaks. IT was just at 10 miles (round trip) and about 2000 feet elevation change. I was trying to get to this lake I used to hike to in high school but forgot I have stuff to do so I will try once more on monday.

bigBaby, That sucks about your port. Did your Doc say why it flipped? I have been reading about people and their ports flipping and about getting it fixed, It don't sound to bad. People say it only take about 20mins and it's sometimes done under local. I would like to know if the insurance covers it to get it fixed. anyhow I sure you will be on track before long.

well I think I fast weight loss has came to a crashing hult. I went to see my doc for my first follow up on July 10th and I was 225 however when get on the scale at my gym I am still 225. I have been getting all my protein and keeping my meal size to only 1-2 cups 3 times a day with a little bit of snacking (olives, peppers, tomatos, Almonds all stuff thats not bad for you) I have been exercising everyday for no less than 1 hour no more than 2 1/2 hours. I think the next 40 lbs are going to be very hard for me. It might be the scale at the gym is off but I don't think so. I go in for my first fill on Aug 7th and I see what his scale reads. I was wondering if anyone has gotten drunk yet with their band. If anyone has, how was it? My doc told me not for 4 weeks and not to drink any beer or any Crab drink. I would like to compare what others have been told. Anyway sounds like everyone is doing really well and enjoying their fills, I hope mine does the trick because I am still hungry after meals. well keep up with the hard work everyone.

I have been exercising every day for no less than one hour, so for this challenge I am going big. I am taking most of Aug off from work so I really have no excuse not to reach my goal. I am going to do 1 1/2 hours a day for all of Aug. Thats going to be 2700 mins. All of july I have been doing no less than 60 mins and up to 2 1/2 hours a day so this 2700 mins is not going to be as hard as it sounds. anyhow I look forward it this and I would like to see everyone reach the goal including myself.

I am having a hard time with not snacking. I do really good till about 1:00am (I work till 6:ooam) I eat my last meal around 11:30pm but around 1:00 I feel like I really need to eat. I have been snacking on stuffed olives, and pickels mostly so my snacks are not really that bad but I would still like to stop. I have not had my first fill yet so maybe that will be a big help. Does anyone have any tips for quiting snacking? Someone said to switch to Nuts but I am worried about the amount of fat in nuts. Any way I feel like crap because I try so hard to eat well all day then I feel like I am blowing it in the early AM. Someone please tell me this will be much more EZ after my fill.

On another note I thought this was interesting. I went to my insurance companys web site today to see if my band has been processed yet and it looks like it's just starting. So far I see $9,834 from the surgeon and are you ready for this? $59,704.04 for the hospital. Has anyone else seen a bill that high for the hospital? I got in at about 6:30 am and was out by noon the next day and the surgeon said everything went real good so I don't know why it is so much. I am just glad I got insurance because that kind of money would be very hard for me to come up with.
