Hey Tiffykins, I am at this same stage full liquids and I am trying to find some different things to eat cause I am hungry and sick of yougurt and pudding. I don't care much for canned Soups either. Do you have any suggestions? Do you think it would be okay to put some potato soup in the food processer and eat a bit of that? Thanks for your help!

Oh my gosh I needed that laugh so bad, thank you! I get sleeved on Tuesday so I havent lost a ton of weight but I have lost 44lbs. and I think 10 of it was in my boobs. I've been describing mine as a withered up baloon that's sat in the sun and lost all it's air. I don't know when all is said and done I just might change my views on breast inplants.

Single Incision VSG
sstoots replied to bellybutton's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After I read you post last night I sent my Kaiser surgeon an email and asked if they do that and if so if I could be a candidate for it. Well my surgeon is out until Monday so his collegue responded with a very vague response "yes it can be done but it has more risks involved, if you would like more info ask Dr. Fisher next week". Do you happen to know what the extra risks are? Thanks for your time. Sara -

Hi welcome to VST and congrats on your great weight loss. May I ask did you have your surgery with Kaiser? -
Hey there i just watched this dateline story about the sleeve and this Dr. does it on an out patient procedure, mostly becuase of the cost. It's a good article. http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/video/surgery-vertical-sleeve-gastrectomy-11968867

Sorry I didn't see your post until now. You do not have to be a Kaiser member to go to the bariatric support group, it's for anyone. the next meeting will be November 25th at 11:00. Since it's so close to Thanksgiving they decided to make it a healthy (for bariatric surgery patients)[ potluck, so if you can bring something great, if not don't worry about it. I most likely will not bring anything as I will only be three weeks out from surgery. They also have a great clothing exchange, where members bring anything that they dont like or no longer fits and then everyone if free to go through the stuff (which is seperated by size) and take what they need. quote name=feedyoureye' timestamp='1287668311' post='86980] Im no longer with Kaiser, do they check IDs? Do you know where at point west the meeting is being held?

Hey all my fellow Sac Girls, I think the Point West support Group is this Saturday from 11:00-1:00. Can everyone do that? I think that would be a great place for all of us to meet, than maybe we can do coffee or something after that?
-
I would love to meet too, I'm down for whatever. Does everyone have weekends off?

Hey Sac Girl, I live in North Highlands and I am having my surgery November 2nd in Richmond by Dr. Fisher. What a trip that we're all so close together. I would love to meet up with you guys too if you don't mind? We're about the same size too, I started at 252 and my goal was 220 and I'm at 208 now.

VSG in May 2009 -- not happy with myself
sstoots replied to ShannonPA-S's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Thickinphilly, are you sure I didn't just write your post? Cause I swear that the exact same thing just came out of my head! I am having my sleeve done November 2nd and I have changed my lifestyle drastically in the last 4 months, so much so that I have lost 44 pounds! But I have still been unable to give up my icecream, I could eat it all day long and eat nothing else and feel so satisfied. I bet I could have lost a ton of weight had I just given up my cecream. Thankk God I found a really good light version, half the fat, a third of the calories. -

Wow it suprises me that Dr. Baggs wouldn't recommend VSG for you! The whole time that I have been considering WLS I had my heart set on Gastric Bypass, never did the thought of VSG cross my mind until Dr. Fisher said that he preferred I have the sleeve. His concern was similar to Dr. Baggs, he though I was too yound to have gastric bypass, that I would most likely have problems later in life associated with malabsorption and that my BMI was considered lower so the sleeve was more appropriate. It kind of scares me now because they are collegues, they perform their surgeries together but they both have different views on what is best for their patients. urgggggggg, I guess I'm gonna have to talk to Dr. Fisher again! Oh well, I'm set on the sleeve, everything that I know now about gastric bypass now I would rather not have WLS that have that procedure done. I know how excited you must be right now, I am right in front of you with Kaiser's process. Good luck and take care. -

Hi Lindsey, Once you reach your goal and you have it recorded in Kaiser's computer system you call them and they will set up lab work and an EKG, both of those are done on a walk in basis so you don't have to wait for an appt. Make sure if you have ever been a smoker that you tell them to order the nicotine test cause this held me up for two weeks. I went to my PCP's at Point West on 9/10 to do a weight check and thats when I found out I was at goal. I went directly from there and called Richmond they set up the labs and EKG I went right back and had those done, it was late on a Friday so I had to wait until Monday to contact Richmond again. Once all your labs are done Sara will set you up with an appt with the case manager, mine was on 10/4, my surgery is scheduled for 11/2. I will have to go back to Richmond one more time before the surgery date on 10/21 for a 4 hour pre op class and a physical. So if your looking to get a date during Christmas break I think you should be right on schedule for that. Good luck getting to goal as quick as possible! -
1 week out today! Way different than I expected!
sstoots replied to PamelaAM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Screw her! If she doesn't like you now you don't want her anyway! My husband is extremely good looking, he could get most any girl he wanted but yet he chose me at 220 pounds, he saw my inner beauty and that's what he fell in love with. I have no idea why but for some reason he is feeling insecure about me having surgery and losing more weight and I say to him "baby when i get skinny why on earth would I leave you for some idiot that wouldn't look twice at me right now". I don't want someone like that, I know that no matter what my husband will be there for me, he will love me, want me, and treat me like a queen regardless if I was 600 pounds bald and toothless because he loves me not my shell. Of course he tells me now that he loves my body but I can't wait to treat him with my future body. I honestly think that we are all very lucky that we had an oppurtunity to be fat in our lifetimes because it has forced us to wow people with what we have inside, fat people almost always have better personalities because most of us feel that we have to compensate for whatever we feel we are lacking. I'm sorry that Im rambling your note just struck a nerve in me, must have been all the teasing I endured in school or something. Take Care, Sara -
Hi Maddie, my name is Sara and I getting sleeved just one day after you on Nov 2nd. I don't have much support from home either. I have lost 44 pounds on my own with just diet and exercise since July so now my whole family feels like I can just lose it all on my own. It's been a constant point of contention between my husband and I mostly becuase I think he is insecure about me losing weight but also he's really afraid of the surgery itself. One thing that helped a ton for me with my mom was to have her get on this website and read the peoples stories that have been through it already and for her to see that almost everyone was pleased with their decision. She had to read it from other people that "have been there done that" to pursuade her that I'm not making a mistake. If you don't mind me asking, what are the reasons that your support people are against you having surgery? All in all you have to do what you need to do to be healthy both physically and mentally and as long as you are making an informed desicion and you are not choosing surgery for the wrong reasons than everything will be fine. Hope to hear from you soon. Sara

Hey Lowcho, I noticed in one of your previous posts you said you were having your sleeve done in Northern CA, may I ask were? I live in Sacramento and I am getting mine done on Nov 2nd at Kaiser Richmond. Take Care, Sara
-
Wow there sure are a lot of people with a November 2nd date! That is also my date with Dr. Fisher Kaiser Richmond, CA. I can sooooo relate to the mom who posted a fat mom is better than no mom. I am also so afraid of being put under. I have never had surgery before except for a c-section and they don't put you out for that. I'm just afraid that I will have a reaction to the anesthesia and I won't wake up.

Yeah I'm really curious about the new way to do the surgery too. Two incision for sure sounds better than five! I just got my surgery date on Monday, it will be on my birthday November 2nd, I can't wait! I'm at Kaiser Richmond with Dr. Fisher, if someone could fill me in about the two incision thing I would really appreciate it then I can shoot him an email and ask if I can be considered for that. I'm not liking this new website either! Thanks, Sara -

Parents who have been sleeved, I have a ?
sstoots replied to M2G's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Out of the mouths of babes! I have three boys and my oldest (12) says he's proud of me, but thats about all I can squeze out of him, my middle son (9) and my youngest (6) are the two that are more curious. I heard the two of them in their room talking about me having surgery and my 9 year old was telling my baby "their gonna cut mom's whole stomach off and it's going to be ugly and all bloody but don't tell mom cause it will hurt her feelings, you just have to act like it's not ugly". I hadn't explained to them anything about the surgery I think they had just heard my husband and I talking about it. So I sat them down and gave them the truth and reassured them that they will not have to see any blood or guts when I get home. They had questions that I answered and I just basically told them I'm just doing this to be healthy so that I can be around for a long time. can you believe the next day I heard my 6 year old tell my nephew, my mom is going to live forever cause she's having surgery! Their words are sooo priceless. -
Hi Tankgirl, may I ask are you going through Richmond or South San Francisco?

Hi Everyone, My name is Sara and I am new to this site, I am going through Kaiser Richmond and I live in Sacramento. I have completed all the pre-surgical appts and I am finally 6 lbs below Dr. Fisher's goal weight. My appt with the case manager is Oct 4th, so I'm hoping for an Oct surgery date. Anyone thats been through the appt with the case manager there and has any advice I would greatly appreciate it. From what I've heard she isn't the easiest women on earth to deal with. Are any of you going to the Point West Support Group tomorrow? -

Hi Cyclemom, Congrats on your weight loss!!!:glare: I had my orientation back in Feb 09 (I weighed in at 242), then I had my Psych appt in May 09, I kind of just blew it all off I guess I just wasnt ready, then in June of this year I started going to the gym and I lost a few pounds (I had got up to 255 at this point) so it got me back on track. I had to go to a refresher orientation which was in July and thats the first I had ever heard of the sleeve, I was all along planning on having the bypass and even after the orientation I had not changed my mind. I had my appt with Dr. Fisher August 13th (I was at 225), I was very nervous but he was a doll, I really liked him a lot, he was really interested in anything my husband or I had to say and was willing to answer any questions, he even asked about my kids and their weight and gave me some tips on helping them. This was the 1st time that I considered the sleeve, he said that he would do the bypass on me but that his recommendation would be the sleeve, at that point he said I had lost enough weight but that he was going to set my goal at 220 to give me some time to do research and make up my mind on which surgery I wanted. So I continued eating healthier and going to the gym and went for a weigh in at my PCP's office not expecting to be at goal yet and i was at 214, 6 pounds below. As soon as I got home I called Richmond and told them I was at goal, then they ordered an EKG and some blood work, they told me when that came back to call them and they would schedule the case manager appt but when I did they had forgotten to order a nicotine urine test (anyone that's ever been a smoker) which had to be done before they would schedule it and that took 8 days to come back. I finally got those results on Friday and Sara scheduled the appt with the case manager today. I am so nervous about this appt though, It's driving me nuts! Are you the one that I read is moving to Cool? I have a few freinds that used to live there. -
