    flabby tummy?

My mom had her surgery about six years ago, and no her skin hasn't tightened at ALL. I mean her arms are fine, but her legs are so lose that she cannot even wear a short dress. She's very self consicious about it. But I just hope that maybe by drinking TONS of water and exfoliating my skin, it might help a little bit.

    flabby tummy?

Thanks tiffykins, you're posts are always so helpful. My mother had the RNY surgery at age 44 she started at 330 and got to 140, but she has a ridiculous amount of extra skin. However, she didn't drink enough water and she's never exfoliated a day in her life. I guess we'll just see how it goes. You're right, I'd much rather have a little extra skin that huge fat rolls.
  4. I haven't had my VSG surgery yet but I am working on it. I am a diet cokeaholic and was wondering if it's okay if I can drink it here and there after surgery. I know before surgery you have to taper off caffeine. I can do that. I just don't think I can live without diet coke forever. Obviously I will drink WAY more Water than diet coke. Diet coke for me is just a treat every now and then. :001_smile:

    Nails?

Hi! I haven't had my VSG surgery yet, but I had my gallbladder removed about three years ago and I had to have plain nails for that because when you're "under" they can check to make sure you're breathing by if your nails turn blue. Sorry if this freaks anyone out, this is just what I was told.

    Dreaded Denial Letter Arrived

What insurance company do you have?
  8. Hi you guys! I am new here and this is one of my first couple posts (first time posting in this section). I currently weigh 270lbs and I am 5'5. I am 20 years old. I have been overweight my ENTIRE life. I was an active kid, I played many different sports and was always on the go, yet I was always overweight and I ate healthy also. Obesity runs in my family so I am not sure if that is a contributing factor or not. My grandmother got her stomach stapled in the 80's and my mother had gastric bypass about 6 years ago. So now, I feel like it's my turn to start living a happy healthy lifestyle and I am so very excited to get started. About a month ago I attented a weight loss seminar by Dr. Dennis Smith in Georgia. It went very well and I have my heart set on getting VSG. I filled out my MANY pages of paper work and mailed it into the surgeon this week and I checked my tracking number and his office got my paper work last Thursday. It takes them about two weeks for the surgeon to approve you for the surgery because he won't just operate on anyone. I hope I qualify by the standards of my surgeon. I just had a physical two weeks ago and my PCP said I am extremely healthy and nothing is wrong with me except for my weight so I feel that I am a good candidate for the weight loss surgery and I don't think I should get denied by my surgeon. I am just getting so stressed out dealing with this and going to college and working full time. It's getting to be too much to handle. All I have on my mind is VSG. I just want to be 100% happy again. I mean, I am really happy now. I have a boyfriend of three years and we moved in together this past summer. We've had many talks of engagement soon. So I am living a great life, I just feel trapped in the body of a fat girl and I hate it. Sorry for all the useless information. I feel better already for just saying what I had to say. Thanks for listening!
  9. I mean, I think if I jump through all my hoops and do all the vists I THINK I should be approved when I submit my papers January 2011. I don't see why not. Especially with adequate weight history records.
  10. Yeah when I was 15 years old (2005) I weighed 270lbs. During that year I lost 80-90lbs so when I was 16 (2006) I weighed around 185lbs. Then it slowly crept up on me and now I'm 20 years old and back at 270lbs. I've honestly had a lifetime of obseity. I've ALWAYS been the "big girl" for as long as I can remember. I guess when I submit my papers to the insurance company, it will help to have a BMI of 40+ for two consecutive years and a lifetime of obesity.

    Aetna Weight History Question

I really have absolutely no idea how this works! Some people are saying I should have 2008 also, but I don't have any records at ALL for 2008. But I mean, once I jump through ALL my hoops and do my 3 month supervised nutrition/exercise program and all the other doctors visits, I'm pretty sure all my information will be sent to my insurance company for approval in January 2011.

    Aetna Weight History Question

And if this is any help, once I jump through all my hoops I SHOULD be able to get my surgery in January or February 2011.
  13. By the time I even get my surgery it will probably be January or February 2011 by the time I jump through all my hoops.
  14. in 2008 I went on a hardcore diet and lost 80lbs. Unfortunately gained it all back PLUS some within about 6 months. Are you 100% positive they look at 2008? I have a medical record from February 2009 with a BMI of 43 and a record for August 2010 with a BMI of 45. That is nearly two years. I just don't see why they wouldn't take that. I guess because insurance can be a b****
  15. I am trying to get my surgery covered through Aetna. I've called them and talked to them about all the hoops and all that good stuff. Plus once I hopefully get to meet with my surgeon, I'm sure his office is FULL of insurance knowledge. Thank you all for your replies!
  16. I meant to say in my last post that I have medical records for 2010 and 2009 showing my BMI over 40.
  17. Yes in my other thread I address my weight history question. I have a BMI of 43-45 for 2010 and 2009. I do NOT have anything for 2008. Do you think they consider the LAST two years to be 2010 and 2009? I know this is a stupid question, but I just want to make sure I have everything covered.
  18. How many times did you have to see your dietician?
