Here is what Aetna's website says: a. Behavior modification program supervised by qualified professional b. consultation with a dietician or nutritionist c. Documentation in the medical record of the member's participation at each visit. (A physician's summary letter, without evidence of contemporaneous oversight, is not sufficient documentation. Documentation should include medical records of the physician's initial assessment of the member, and the physician's assessment of the member's progress at the completion of the multidisciplinary surgical prepatory regimen.) d. Reduced- calorie diet program supervised by dietician or nutritionist.

My nutritionist said that she would weigh me only on my first consult in Nov. Should I go to my PCP and get weighed in Dec and Jan to have it documented?
-
How many times did your nutritionist weigh you??
-
I have Aetna and I am currently in the process of doing my steps. As far as Aetna is concerned this is what I'm doing: - Seeing nutritionist 3 times. Once in Nov, once in Dec, once in Jan. - I see a Physical Therapist every Tuesday afternoon Nov-Jan - I am documenting what I eat and what exercise I do. I did not log a couple days in Nov. I hope that's okay.... - I have two years documented of a BMI over 40. Is that pretty much all I need as far as Aetna is concerned?? Am I supposed to be doing monthly weigh-ins as well. Sorry for all the questions. I am just freaking out about everything.

So is it okay to get beef jerky as a snack? I just wasn't sure if the sodium was a killer. -
I have Aetna Aexcel Plus Choice POS 2. I have been researching on Aetnas website about weight loss surgery and I still have a couple questions that some of you might be able to answer for me. First off, is there anyone here that has Aetna insurance and DID NOT have to do a medically supervised program for 3-6 months? I was reading on Aetnas website that you have a choice to do either the three month program or the six month program. Can someone please enlighten me that chose to do the three month program and what all they had to do? Thank you so much!

Okay maybe I am making things way too complicated, but I just want to make sure I have all my bases covered. I had my first consult with my nutritionist today and I am sort of confused. I know I need to see my nutritionist once a month for three months. That's no problem. But what EXACTLY is she supposed to be documenting. I mean, is she supposed to weigh me as well??? Here is what Aetna's website says: a. Behavior modification program supervised by qualified professional b. consultation with a dietician or nutritionist c. Documentation in the medical record of the member's participation at each visit. (A physician's summary letter, without evidence of contemporaneous oversight, is not sufficient documentation. Hey. I have Aetna as well, but I mean is it even possible to RUSH this and them still cover the surgery because of the 3 month supervised exercise regimen/ nutrtionist supervised diet? -
Hi, this is my very first post. I have been lurking on here for a little over a month now. I know there have been many threads created about Aetna weight history, but I can't find any answers to my question. Aetna requires you to have a documented BMI over 40 for the LAST two years. I have medical records of a BMI over 40 for 2010 and 2009. Does anyone know if Aetna considers the LAST two years to be 2010 and 2009?? Or do you think I need medical records for 2008 (becuase I don't have those). Any feedback will help. I have Aetna Aexcel Plus Choice POS2

My insurnace is requiring a three month supervised exercise program with an exercise therapist. Does anyone know EXACTLY what the insurnace is wanting. And I mean, I know it states three months but what would they be happy with? A couple days in Oct, a couple days in Nov, and a couple days in Dec. Anyone been through this before?
-
I haven't gone to the nutritionist yet. I have an appointment coming up soon. They are not making me go to the hospital's facility I do have a choice on where to go as long as it's with a physical therapist or other qualified professional. I called around today and found a woman that has a water aerobics business and she's right down the road from where I live so I am wondering if she could document everything for me. I called Aetna today and they said bascially every time I work out they need it to be documented on what type of exercise I did and all that good stuff. I mean, I have been exercising ALL October on my own. I walk about 30 minutes a day and do 50 crunches. I wonder if I saw an exercise therapist and told her about this I wonder if she could document that for my first month of October and then just see her once in Nov and once in Dec....hmm? I don't know. I'm just freaking out about what EXACTLY the insurance is wanting for documentation.
-
I mean it's a fairly long drive to my hospital's fitness center where I will be doing my exercise.
-
Well my problem is is can I count October as one of my "months" now? I am going to see an exercise therapist next week so I will technically only exercise only about 2 days in October... Also in Nov and Dec I only plan on going about twice a week because it's a fairly long drive...

Hi there! I live in GA as well. What doctor did your surgery?
-
hmm that's interesting. I guess every insurance policy is differnet. Mine said I must complete 3 months with an exercise therapist. I could either join a yoga class, hire a personal trainer, or join a water areobics class.
-
What did yall do for the supervised exercise program? I need to go I guess once every three months to a supervised exercise regimen by an exercise therapist or a trained professional. Just wondering what yall did for this??

Tiff, do you have a facebook? -
I'm just wondering if anyone here has never had a stall after their surgery and exactly what you ate and your exercise routine. I haven't had my surgery yet, but I am meeting with my surgeon on Tuesday!!!:biggrin0:

Tiffykins, can you tell me pretty much what you ate as far as protein goes. I am not a huge meat eater, so are there any other alternatives that you ate to get in your protein? -
Hey everyone! I just got a phone call from my surgeons office and I was approved!!!!!My surgeon is VERY picky about candidates for weight loss surgery so I was a little nervous! I am so ready to finally get this ball rolling. I will probably be able to make my first appointment next week. So excited!

Hi there! I am currently looking to have my VSG sometime in Jan or Feb 2011. I am a 20 year old female, my height is 5'5 and I weigh 270lbs. My goal is to lose 110lbs and weigh 160lbs. I am just wondering if anyone out there was around my age/weight and reached their goal weight. I am just wondering how much extra skin I will have. I know since I'm young, my skin has more elasticity, I just have so many questions flying around in my head!
